Watching these videos is a trip. Bionicle ended around when I was born so I never experienced it, but it is directly related to the toyline that I did grow up with, Hero Factory. I watched the Bionicle Commercials a lot (specifically the mahri one), watched Web of Shadows, and knew that Bionicle was huge back in the day but I never understood why. Now Im deep into Bionicle Lore and bought my first Gen 1 official set for used, which is older than me. Its so surreal seeing something old and cool that you missed out on, if only I was born earlier. Ty for these detailed and heartfelt reviews, its so cool seeing someone being genuine about their hobbies and explaining their perspectives. It's also nice to see so many Bionicle fans still being active in the community, I really respect the hard work yall have been pouring into the franchise for 24 years now holy cow, insane.

That make me feel so old now lol I was a baby when bionicle was first released but I remember when hero factory came out. I wasn’t crazy about it ngl I got a set or two it wasn’t for me however, I was thinking about reviewing all the hero factory sets whenever I finish bionicle. Anyway the bionicle community is definitely one better communities to be in glad see even the younger generation appreciate bionicle now that makes me happy. Hope you have a great day!

I had been meaning to tell this story in a previous comment, but I do remember being envious of someone I was friends with who had received Karzahni as a birthday gift in early August of 2007. Not only was this set a Toys R Us-exclusive (At least in North America), but it was also only available for around four months after its initial release. Even though I personally don't remember ever seeing it in stores at the time. Beginning with Sarda, the Bohrok limbs in Metru red at 3:13 are a similar story to the Metru green (earth green) ones on Defilak (8929). In how, while new to Bionicle at the time, they actually first appeared as part of the "Nidhogg Dragon" in a set (7015) from the short-lived "Vikings" theme from 2005. In addition to him being the last appearance of the Great Kanohi Huna, every piece on him in Metru red makes its final appearance here, including the "Voodoo arms". Idris is similar to such in how the Metru blue (earth blue) Bohrok limbs first appeared as part of the "Armored Ofnir Dragon" in the final set (7021) of the "Vikings" theme in mid-2006 before appearing here. She is the final set to have the socket joints in transparent fluorescent blue, which were introduced with Matoro Inika (8732) the prior year. The rounded Inika feet in solid Metru blue first appeared in the Mahri form of Hahli (8914), and make one other appearance after this. Both of them mark the final appearance of the Toa Hordika style of chest armor, and the penultimate appearance of the "Voodoo claws" in silver. And the last to have the Technic 19M "Flex hoses" in their origin color of silver. They were the last appearances of the "Voodoo arms" in Bionicle, though the black ones would make one final appearance in a set (8637) from the "Agents" theme in June 2008. This part would also appear recolored in dark stone gray in a set (8059) from the "Atlantis" theme at the start of 2010 before it was phased out altogether. On Karzahni himself, nearly piece in Metru green on him is exclusive, and is the final appearance of the Piraka legs and the Toa Metru double sockets in that color. The latter of which debuted in Nidhiki (8622) back in 2004. Leaving only the Rahkshi legs in that color (also introduced with Nidhiki) remaining. The tail tips in Metru green on his hands first appeared in 2005 as part of the "Midgard Serpent" in yet another Vikings set (7018), and have appeared in just three other sets since '07. Most recently in this year's Icons Chrysanthemum (10368). The knives introduced with Takadox (8916) also make their last appearance here, as is true for the cape and the "Vacuum Shields" recolored in gunmetal on his back. At 9:21, the Technic 19M flex hoses in Mata red also appear in two Bionicle minifigure-scale sets (8926 and 8927) from 2007, and continue to appear in other themes in different colors to this day. Though they haven't appeared in Mata red since 2014. Bringing us to the "trap" part of the set, it is the final appearance of the Technic 7M flex rods in silver. It is also the only appearance of the Technic 112-degree angle elements in Mata red in Bionicle. Collectively, this set is the last to have the Squid Launcher, even though I personally didn't miss it after 2007 ended. As such, I am definitely looking forward to your 2007 overview as well.

But aside from how this set was the last appearance of Bohrok limbs altogether, I was also surprised that you didn't mention how at the time of release, Karzahni was the largest constraction-scale Bionicle set in terms of parts since the Bahrag Queens (8558) from 2002. Even as Karzahni's part count is still only 59% (373) of what they had (636), and no constraction-scale Bionicle set since 2003 had even exceeded 300 parts up to this point in the theme. Though the Bahrag only held their title for eight more months, before being surpassed by two other sets in June 2008...

I can’t believe I didn’t mention that either I kind of forgot 😅

@@robethematoran6975 And I somehow also forgot to mention how this was also the last set to include the Technic rubberized socket joints which first appeared in mid-2004 in the Metru-Nui Titan sets (8621-8623). Though they also came in a "Vikings" set (7015) and a UCS-style Batman set (7784) between that time.

I knew this guy had to be stupid expensive on the secondhand market, but I wasn't prepared for him to be THAT expensive, though the recolor gold mine as mentioned is probably a substantial factor into why. The collector in me wants to add this to my collection out of completion's sake, but that price tag firmly puts it in Manas territory; too price prohibitive and will only continue to get more expensive over time. Glad to see this video; in-depth reviews and 360 turnarounds on this set are so rare that I completely forgot he had a cape and outright didn't know he had those red tubes. I assume the cape is just Vezon's reused?

I got the set off eBay a couple years ago incomplete, just missing half the trap and Idris' mask (because of course it was), as well as the little spikes on big man himself. Well worth the 250~ is paid for him. Glad I did too, because when he was on shelves, i never encountered him except at toysRus and didn't think to get him Also, hope you're doing good Robe!

Certainly a lot better than paying 400$ like I did for him I never got the chance to get him in stores my parents never took lol. A significantly better price with just a few pieces missing, and yes I am doing good thank you for the comment greatly appreciate it
