That juice one was some insane luck, but if I got home and my partner was like "You spent 5$? You could have gotten on sale 2:50$ juice down the road." I would have been like, "And you didn't think to mention, 'hey this place has juice on sale' to me?" Like, come on.

2:58 That's just kind of my coping mechanism. When Roe vs Wade was overturned, when I was diagnosed with painful incurable disorder, when I went through a break up from a 4-year partner, I just think well this is really rough now, but it'll be okay. If I don't believe things can eventually be okay, I will go into a doom spiral. And so far, things have turned out okay in my life, in spite of the troubles and the persistent illness.

I had a prophetic dream once lol when I was like 13 yrs old. I had a cat that I bonded very closely with because he'd been injured as a kitten and was mostly paralyzed from the waist down, so I had to take extra care with him and he trusted me very much. This was probably two or three years into me having him, and I had a dream where I was walking through a pine tree forest and I could hear him meowing, and right as I saw him sitting in between the rows, I woke up. I went to feed him that very morning, only to find him gone. I searched all over for him for the whole day but he was nowhere. Again, he was partially paralyzed and so couldn't really wander far away due to his walking being a bit difficult. Well, I remembered my dream and so I walked to the pine tree forest that was near my house and went inside, calling for him. When I got nearly to the middle of it (it was a BIG pine tree forest) I suddenly heard him meowing. And there he was, sitting exhausted in the dirt. I picked him up and carried him home. I had another dream like that too but not prophetic. I had another animal I was close to. lol I know, but I've been rescuing animals since I was a child so I tend to bond with them over people ok. She was a little chihuahua who I rescued and I'd had her for 15 years. Well, she died of old age, and the next day I sent her in to be cremated, and my mom came over to spend the night with me. That night, I dreamed that I was sitting in my desk chair, which was right next to my bed. I remember seeing myself and my mom both asleep in my bed, and my tv was still on. The chihuahua was sitting in my lap like she used to do, and I was just talking quietly to her in the dark room. It was so real, and I would just glance over at myself sleeping in bed and then back down at my lap. The only thing I remember saying was that I told her "you died." And as soon as I woke up it was like I teleported from the desk chair to my bed, and suddenly the room was bright and it was morning. Very surreal, makes me wonder to this day.

i had a dream very similar to your second story. i had 2 elderly burmese cats, one passed in 2015 aged 13, the other died 2017 at 15. i had a dream that they were together (they were inseparable in life) and well in a completely different environment i'm not familiar with, i remember crying and cuddling them because i was happy to see them again, it felt very real.

Don't be so pessimistic, most people are good people. The world (if you live in a developed country) has never been safer. Back then it actually used to be way worse. Police and security cameras didn't exist in the ancient times so people would get away with insane crimes pretty regularly out in the street. Also getting in stranger's cars isn't anything crazy either. People get in taxis and ubers every day. An uber driver could easily pull a gun on you but it rarely happens.

I think the caveat to that statement, at least in the US/West, about hitchhiking and trust is that people assumed you were nice and trustworthy... if you were white. As for safety, etc, I wonder how much more is reported, honestly. Because I think there is some amount of increase in crime but then how much of that is because we no longer have asylums and mental health treatment has been so severely reduced (thanks, Reagan) and simply because of the increase in population. Still, I try to argue with the olds about how when they grew up things weren't so peachy and wonderful as they thought and that the world hasn't just suddenly gone to hell. They never believe me because they were kids then and because they don't remember it, it didn't happen.
@SubtleHawk2 жыл бұрын
I think people think things were better back then because of a few things. One reason is TV and the internet. We have access to so much information now that even though in the US/West crime has been declining (in the US crime recently peaked in the 1990s but it's been a steady decline since the 19th century if you look at the numbers) and people see more bad things happening than they ever could before. Even though proportionally there's less crime nowadays people are aware of more crimes, which feeds into their "the world is more evil now" narrative. Also there's more security cameras, everybody has a phone in their pocket that can record video, and the population has increased a lot since WW2. This means that, like you said, there's an increase in documentation and reporting, which exacerbates the narrative that I was talking about earlier. The Chinese Robber fallacy is something that also fits into all of this. This is a good read about what that fallacy is in case anyone's interested: slatestarcodex.com/2015/09/16/cardiologists-and-chinese-robbers/

Hold up, my friends and I I saw the same thing (18:34) when we went camping. It was these lights really far up in the sky that were moving in a very geometric pattern. To us, it looked too far away to be a plane but too uniform to be stars so we assumed they were satellites or something.

I'm curious for you to cover some of Ballen's "Missing 411" content. Some of it is weird, sure, but SAR folks can tell you that lost people can act in strange ways, especially children, nevermind predatory animals, the affect of inclement weather on SAR searches and the amount of people in "Missing 411" cases who claim they "only took their eyes off their child for a second." Yeah, right. (Though, to be fair, at least one from the videos of Ballen's that I've seen has actually been charged with negligent homicide and ended up taking his own life because of it.)

It only needs to be a second in a forest. There's a reason that when hiking, you MUST make sure you can see the person in front and the person behind you can see you. Disorientation can happen very easily.
