Who in their right mind would be with a guy like this? This movie could have been a dark comedy, like It's Always Sunny in Philidelphia, but the movie needs to punish Nate for being awful. It needed to backfire. She should have said, "Well, you failed my test. I can't be with someone who is so emotionally unstable." (not saying that depression is a reason to dump someone, it would be fitting for her to get back at him for creating artificial anxiety for no legitimate reason by revealing she pretended to give up on him) and then she could mock him and call him out for his nonsense. Bad characters can be put into funny situations, they just need to get what they deserve in the end

It's interesting that in Loqueesha he played a guy who "tough loved" a person out of killing themselves and displayed no empathy whatsoever and in this movie he plays a guy who threatens to off himself because his fiancee left him after he ruined her life. Except this time instead of someone popping up to go "ok well do it then," like he apparently thinks people should do to others, the fiancee blames herself and he got everything he wanted.
@lizzyrank5405 Жыл бұрын
I might be cold blooded, but if you are in a relationship with someone that threatens or even self harms and then blames you.....I just say do it. My ex did this saying he'd off himself if we broke up. Thankfully I was a teen; even after knowing how teen relationships work and especially abuse and s*iside-murder happens; I was naive to stay. I didn't the second time; what I gather from people like that is, they don't actually do it. They threaten and abuse your kindness to keep you tethered to them. And I say even if they do, it's not your fault, get them the help if you want, or thing they'll actually do it. But if in the end they go with it, thats their own fault, because they have the gull to threaten, gaslight and blame another person for their own wrong doing. Not to mention if they ever go through with it, it's to HOPE that they left a big enough impact to make you think of them your whole life and blame yourself, maybe even stop dating so they can be your only, if no the last relationship you had. Like I said maybe I'm cold blooded but I whole heartily dislike people like that. Holding a life over someone's head is down right evil.
@IAmNotAWoodenDuck Жыл бұрын
@@lizzyrank5405 Yeah, I've had people like that in my life too. Coddling them for displaying that kind of behaviour really doesn't help at all and only shows them they can do it again next time. When I encountered it I just told them in a kind but firm way that they really needed to seek help because I couldn't help them with that and I didn't change my plans. Suddenly they didn't feel so bad anymore. That's what makes both scenes so interesting. A person who's desperate and out of options who calls a radio station as a last cry for help? Well, they should just toughen up and quit overreacting. A man lying in the middle of the street threatening to kill himself because he got dumped for a good reason? Oh poor baby, give him whatever he wants. It really says something about what goes through that man's head that he thinks people would agree with him on that.

Like have it be that a couple of her friends are actually in relationships or know the bros and fed them ideas. and/or have a scene where her boss consults her about the faux-termination and she tells him to go ahead with it. That the entire thing was a test against the main dude, too in order to see if he can be supportive in tough situations...THEN they can have that revelation that they're both crazy.

Been married 22 years now. I'd much rather spend time with my wife (and family) than anyone else. Admittedly, I do sometimes prefer to be alone instead, but I think everyone feels that way sometimes. Also, I enjoy spending time with friends, but most of our friends are in-common, so we are still spending time together when we all hang out. Finally, if things do get rough, we work together to work it out rather than build fortresses around ourselves, and fight it out. I think too many people forget marriage is a partnership in good and bad times. Being able to enjoy each other together in good, and being able to work together to resolve issues in bad is so important. The key word being TOGETHER.

Something I started seeing pop up a lot in the past year or so is internet chuds like Steven Crowder, Ben Shapiro, Matt Walsh and the like railing against no fault divorce. Notably when publically addressing his divorce after it and security footage of him verbally abusing his wife were leaked Crowder repeatedly complained about the fact that the state of texas allowed her to leave him. We're here talking about what creates the happiest and healthiest outcomes but it's important to remember that some people don't care if people (particularly women) are happy in their marriages so long as they remain married. Hell, I remember Michael Knowles saying that even in the case of physical abuse where a partner's safety is at risk they should "just work it out" because getting divorced is a worse outcome. Let's not forget the time Dennis Prager put out two articles about how marital grape isn't real and a wife "not being in the mood" isn't a valid excuse for not putting out. That's the kind of vibe i get from Jeremy Saville, he doesn't strike me as someone who is overly bothered with how women feel. He leaves that to Loqueesha 😂

Since this is my personal Roman Empire, the whole "50% of marriages end in divorce" figure is based on a faulty study from the 70s/80s where they literally just counted the number of weddings in a year and the number of divorces in a year and the number of divorces happened to be around half of the number of marriages. However, they didn't take into account whether those divorces where from people who had been married that year, so their way of calculating it is fairly faulty. The only way to know an actual percentage would be to do a decades-long study (although most people keeping track believe the number is between 5-12%) and as far as I know, no one has attempted one.

"When you have real love you can't just abandon that person just because they did something that no self respecting person could forgive" This line is the most insane and toxic "moral of the story" I have seen in my entire life. Jesus. This guy is really made "True love is when you stay with me no matter how shitty I am to you" the message of an entire movie.

As a Black person, this is one of the scariest movies ever for the point that anyone walked away from this with anything positive to say without being paid mercenary style to say anything more positive than "This is terrible and you should stop, yesterday."

I agree with you 100% on why and how marriages last. I met my husband online and we instantly clicked after our first date. He became my best friend and we are inseparable. We fell in love fast and he proposed exactly a year and a half after we met. Long story short, we have been married for four years and together for seven years and we’re still in our honeymoon stage. I believe that there’s someone for everyone.

When I've heard of testing a woman to see if she'd be a good partner, it's been things like, see how she handles being told no on something important to you; ask her to pay for an outing; will she let you spend time with female friends?, etc.. The more you talk about Jeremy, the more he sounds worse than PUAs. Because at least they're *aware* they don't care about women as people.

My parents are divorced, but they still actually like each other, so most of the time my folks are under the same roof. Now they are basically just best friends who happen to (mostly) live in the same home and are a lot happier with that dynamic. They got divorced for reasons I don't care to get into for a bunch of strangers on the internet.

i married my high school sweet heart at age 20 when we had been on and off since we were 16 and at that point had a 4 month old baby together. a month later i got pregnant with our second child and our relationship went downhill from there. i ended up leaving him when i was 8 months pregnant & almost 10 months into our marriage and we divorced shortly after. best decision i’ve ever made. yes it was extremely hard especially bc i truly believed he was the person i was gonna spend the rest of my life with at one point but i completely lost my own identity in our marriage and it brought out the absolute worst in both of us and we both became extremely emotionally abusive to each other. now 4 years later we’re both much happier and healthier and our family dynamic is way better! i 100% agree with what you said about marriage. we were kinda pressured into getting married from my pastor parents bc we had a baby out of “wedlock” and i wish i didn’t give in to that. EDIT: ooooofff the threatening to ✨attempt✨ brought back a memory of the same ex one of the times i broke up with him and he had my car so i asked him to drop it off at my school campus where i lived at the time and he calls me slurring his words saying he couldn’t drive bc he just popped a bunch of pills bc he didn’t wanna leave without me so me freaking out ofc calls 911 and had a friend drive me to his apartment. i get there & the paramedic told me he was fine that he just took 3 sleeping pills to make him sound like he was od ing. i was pissed and left him alone in the hospital for his mandatory hold bc he did threaten to attempt so they still had to keep him there, and i went to a party instead. this was only one of the many times he’s used stuff like that against me and it just reminded me so much of that scene bc i was considered to be the bad guy just like julia to his friends when they saw me partying on snapchat while he ofc lied to them about what really happened. ofc once i told them what actually happened things changed but god i hated that day so so so much,

I'm not saying people don't think marriage is suppose to fix their relationships, (and yes I agree divorce is a good thing). But actually, the most cited reason for divorce is because the man treats the woman as a homemaker even when she has a full-time job. That's cited even more than infidelity.

The park scene with the physical therapy is really funny in an awful way if you think about the fact that they drove him to the park, presumably helped him to the grass and then just sat down on the bench to look on concernedly as he just kinda flails around "learning to walk again" through trial and error.

You’re so right about marriage. I’ve never connected to anyone the way I do with my fiancé. We’re both calm and collected individuals most of the time. My parents, however, made me celebrate when they got divorce. When things got their worst with them, I wondered why they EVER got together in the first place. Now that’s bad😂. My moms happily married again though and lives comfortably

The complex of marriage is something that I grow further and further from wanting for myself with every passing day. Same with having kids. I'd rather be in a long term relationship with a person I love more than anyone else, with the main priority of our relationship being us and our happiness. Whatever that looks like, marriage or not, kids or not, however it needs to happen. Society's view of the necessity of marriage despite the idea that it should be toxic because "men and women can just never truly get along" is fucking psychotic. Your advice is spot on Pig

"make her out to be the bad guy by making her say that he should just go ahead" idk what it says about my character, but I would probably act the same in that situation thinking he is either pulling another stunt or weaponizing a suicide threat. seen it happen to others, happened to myself twice. I simply can't care
@tymothyyoung1530 Жыл бұрын
The fact that he not only thought this would make a good film but then believed it enough to actually make it real is beyond my understanding, but then watching it back and still thinking it was still great. and with that unbelievable ending which is just his own ego inflation as you'd literally have to be crazy to take him back after that. No self respecting woman alive would marry him and say she's just at much at fault. I'd leave him laying in the road and walk away.

What’s odd is the premise doesn’t sound all that bad, like it might genuinely work as an overthetop satire, but the main issue I’m seeing is, like you said, Jeremy wants you sympathize with his character. With the right script and delivery, this could have been quite hilarious, imo, and seems like something Norm MacDonald (May he Rest In Peace) could have pulled off.

I feel like the twist should have been that his incel friends who talked him into it were actually just trying to ruin his life the whole time, like they were carrying a grudge over something Loqueesha didn't even remember, and they knew he'd be dumb enough to throw away his relationship and make himself miserable for no good reason.

You know this concept could work if say, the friends are bullys who always mess with the gullible and sheepish main character. He then reluctantly goes along with everything and a comedy of errors ensues. But in the end he finally stands up to them and rides off into the sunset with the girl. With i dunno, some kind of ham fisted metaphor about having the confidence to be yourself and speak out against negative behaviour woven in there somehow. It would still be pretty trash but you might be able to get Happy Madison to produce it 😂
