This hits very close to home. My brother is on trial right now and I pray for mercy for him. The only peace I have is knowing that my niece is alive and her abuser was sent to the same place Hardy sent the guy in this song. My prayers go out to anyone that is in this situation. God Bless and much love

This song hits me in the gut. I've been there to the point where my father came over with a loaded double barrel shot gun. It took me and about 6 cops to keep him from pulling both triggers. I was so scared my daddy would end up in prison. Thank God we got him to change his mind. I had to have both my jaw bones reconstructed and had two huge black eyes alot of broke teeth and a huge gash in my forehead. My dad's in heaven now but he was ready to take matters in his own hands and I didn't want to lose him. I still have scars and had to have dentures because so many teeth were broken. I love this song and I admire any man that cares that much for women no matter who he is

Being an intelligent woman and business owner and a paralegal for 10 yrs not to mention a victim of physical and emotional abuse. You can't run far enough or take out restraining orders. The system fails. This is an anthem to every woman who has lived it. In the end I got a piece of paper granting me a divorce due to abuse. He is living his life and I will be in therapy for ever diagnosed with PTSD. Any man that steps up to the plate Bless you.

Howdy Birdman from North Texas. :-)This song always makes me cry. I rarely speak of this- But when I was in college, getting my degree in criminal justice, I'd had a boyfriend who was just like the man who was sent to hell by the judge from under the seat. He beat me up badly and often, called me the most horrible names and took great pleasure in gaslighting me. He put me in the hospital several times. At the time I weighed no more than a handful of thistle down and he outweighed me by 125+pounds. I was no match for him but I did fight back and got in a few good licks. The last beating I took from him was his last. My dad and maternal grandfather had come to visit me and when they saw me, it was on like Donkey Kong. Keep in mind, these are ranch and farm raised men. They wanted his phone number and address and I gave them the information. I rode along with them and they , too, told me to wait in the truck and keep my head and ears covered. Right then I knew what they were going to do and I was worried for them. Through my muffled ears, I heard loud shouting and it sounded like his place was being tossed. I kept quiet and my head down for fear that the altercation would come outside. A little bit later, dad and my grandfather came back out and I could see the look in their eyes that they had done some roughing him up and making sure that he would no longer be a "problem". I wept. Thankful that he was no longer going to hurt me, but worried about dad and grandfather. Once we got back to my apartment, They had me shower and told me that I shouldn't be late for my job. I did what they told me to do. I have no idea what they were doing while I was at work, but I'm dead certain that they did something with his body. Both of them would never tell me and my grandfather carried that secret to his grave. Dad is 85 now and I have no idea how much longer I will have him around, but deep, down inside I will always be forever grateful for stepping up for me. These days I am a detective with my local Sheriff's Department.I always make sure to carry the judge under my front seat. "Rose In Paradise" by Waylon Jennings is another song that tells of a similar story to this one.

I really enjoyed your reaction to this song. I was in an abusive relationship with my son's father right after my son was born & I was having difficulty getting out. In the early morning he hit me then tried strangling my 13 yr old daughter so we called the cops & he was arrested. I called my ex (who is now my fiance) and thankfully he came and got us all out. My ex is now in prison for murder for killing a man a couple months later then burying him in the concrete under the deck he built so if my fiance hadn't gotten is out when he did that would have been us. Once I was out & got my own apartment, I wanted to pay it forward then I just happen to look out my window & saw a man trying to drag a woman out of her car by her hair so I called the cops, I do believe he was arrested. I don't know if she ever found out it was me but that didn't matter to me all that mattered was that she was okay & safe. Sometimes it's really hard to get out of a situation like that & not everyone makes it out & I commend the ones that do but it's a really good feeling when/if you have someone that cares so much to want to protect you that fiercely.

He did it, knowing full well that he had nothing to gain from his actions and everything to lose. But he never gave his well-being a second thought. He just did what his conscience & character dictated with no hesitation at all. And her life is better as a result. These are the kind of people that, when presented with certain situations, like some soldiers in combat. They simply react as their nature dictates and completely disregard the consequences to themselves. Some Medal of Honor-winning soldiers have done precisely what this guy did-like MV TSgt John A. Chapman, ON March 4, 2002, who was awarded two medals of honor posthumously. In my humble opinion, this guy should not have spent even one day in jail. He just did what society and law enforcement all too often fail to do. He took out the garbage permanently. That guy had not only beaten this girl horribly and repeatedly but also threw her out into the rain. He was already working on another one when this girl’s savior busted through his door. So, this girl’s selfless savior inadvertently saved two women from this horrible fate.

Thank you, great reaction! I subscribed, loves and peace to you! He just met her on the street, but this must have been that 'one more thing' that made him say not today Dude. IMO he ultimately saved her life. They get back out, defy no contact orders and there ya go. The dude played F around and find out one too many times! Plus the acting in this...he beat on that door with PURPOSE! I also love the no regrets look on his face at the end when she says Thank you. No regrets. He said it was worth the price. The dude likely would have gone too far and killed her eventually.

I see what he did as being totally justified. Some men, a lot of men, actually, don't abide by an abuser. Grew up seeing their mom's get hit, maybe. Real men don't hit women. My brother told me that when I was 15 and a guy I was dating at the time sent my home one night with a bruised lip. My big brother and his two best friends caught up with him the next weekend. 16 stitches, 2 broken teeth and a skull fracture later.... lol And the then ex-boyfriend of mine never uttered a word to his family or the cops about who had done it.

What most people miss is that Hardy's character could have just left. Cops were a few minutes away, he wasn't from there, she wasn't going to give a description. He could have just left and lived his life. But he was a law abiding man, so he put his gun down and waited for the cops to come and accepted his fate. Good dude.

I worked the streets as a LEO for a few years and did many years with State DOC (retiring 8yrs ago) now that I am not restrained by a badge I see things a tad differently. When the system, when society fails to protect those weakest among us it is left to rough men standing outside the rule of law to do what is necessary to preserve the peace, protect the innocent, and return civility. Some call this "vigilante justice" but for some the vigilante is the only hope to obtain justice.

BIRDMAN, FUN FACT. MICHAEL HARDY'S MIDDLE NAME IS "WILSON", SAME AS LAINEY'S LAST NAME. SHE IS ALSO ON SEASON 5 OF "YELLOWSTONE". TWO OTHER GOOD SONGS BY HARDY IS, #1 "A ROCK" AND #2 "GIVE HEAVEN SOME HELL". BEFORE HARDY STARTED ON THE PERFORMING SIDE OF THE INDUSTRY, HE WROTE FOR OTHER BIG ARTISTS. FOR EXAMPLE. HE CO-WROTE, BLAKE SHELTON'S BIG HIT, "GOD'S COUNTRY". REASON HE REMINDS YOU OF MORGAN IS, HE WROTE FOR HIM AS WELL.DID ANYONE ELSE NOTICE THAT THE LOOK IN HARDY'S EYES WAS THE SAME LOOK OF SHOCK AS A CHILD WITNESS?

It’s not the right thing to do, but I understand how someone could decide that’s what needs to happen. Like to think I would never do it, but I’d be a liar if I said i couldn’t imagine it. I’ve hit men for far less and I’ve killed (in Iraq)… not particularly proud of either because violence should be a last resort. Some people don’t deserve oxygen though, so… morality becomes iffy.
