Thanks for another clay block video, I've really enjoyed all of these you've done! I feel like a "battle of the birdshot" clay block video would be very interesting - do 1 really fine shot like #9, something sort of in the middle like #5 or #6, and something heavy you'd duck hunt with like #2 shot. Three different flavours of birdshot from 15, 20 yards or so? THAT would be a really fun video!

In regard to home defense with a 12ga. shotgun, a few years back the U.S. Gummint tested a bunch of various loads and decided that the best of the bunch for defensive purposes was Nickel-plated #4 buckshot. I have my home shotty loaded up with Fiocchi of that description, 2-3/4" with 27 pellets at 1325 fps. There are loads up to 54 pellets if 27 doesn't seem like enough...

It wasn't a surprise seeing what the 00 buck and slug did,.but I was ay-MAZED with what the bird shot did to that clay. It was mildly disturbing to say the least so of course that means it was extra awesome! I heard Paul haw hawin a bunch during this video so I know it was a ton of fun to make. Well that's fair cuz I had fun watching it! GREAT video Who Tee. Thanks for posting it.

I like taking trap loads and casting 00 buck and 7/8oz slugs, socket slugs and currently working on making a round ball mould. Im thinking of using model clay and a wooden sphere to make the cavity. I dont think its going to work well consistently but its fun to just play around with them.

In a normal home defense situation, the distance between badguy and gun probably won't be more than 15-20 feet. At that range even the bird shot is going to hit like a slug.

For home defense in neighborhoods or when there are occupants in other rooms, I recommend #4 Buck...plenty of pellets, respectable penetration, but less chance of serious damage on the other side of a flimsy wall. Love to see a test of that by Mr.Who. For rural settings? Double ought buck wins, especially some of the "tactical" stuff.

I like 00 buck out of a Winchester 1897. For kicks and giggles, maybe fling some 12 GA mini shells. Gotta single load these as they are best for single and double barrels. Still a blast though.
@jamesparlane92892 жыл бұрын
The slug spread it the most but the buck gives you more hits for nearly the same spread of clay. I would go with the buck. Where I am home defence is illegal. Yeah, I know. If it were legal, I would go with 3&1/2 inch shells loaded with 18 pellets of 00 buck. Or perhaps 15 pellets of buck with some No.9 topping it up, added as shot buffer. That should do the trick
