Hey Gravy - just picked one up and is shooting less than 1” at 80 yards with Freedom Munitions. Was shocked with accuracy. What size grains weight do you use on deer? I’m taking out a 110 Vmax tomorrow. Just got some 125 grain hollow points. Many thanks - Ron

@@ronwinn879 I’ve used both the Barnes 110 grain Tac TX and hand loaded 110 grain Vmax on deer. They both work great. I haven’t used them myself, but I’ve been told the 120 Tac TX are even better. I’d use any of them, whichever is most accurate in your rifle.

Right the heck on man! There are some really cool parts of this video for my family and we watched this one together. My wife and I vacationed to Tennessee in August and we were in that very same BPS and went to Opryland mills and Grand Ol' Opry too (Hey! it's ok, we had never been to Tennessee before and we got to see Carrie Underwood and Sarah Evans too!). Anyways, we bought our boy a camo Savage 93 .22 Magnum for Christmas. He has had the fever for a bolt action rifle big time. By him watching you unbox this camo Savage bolt action his appetite is now wetted for exactly what he is going to get! Great video as always!
@Jusader2 жыл бұрын
Very cool. I work at a BPS at the gun counter, and can feel the frustration of not having enough help! At minimum, I get around 2 people a day that will yell at me personally from the line of people for not being fast enough, or how we don't have anyone on the floor to help (nobody at cutlery, optics, archery, etc). It's usually a juggle of having to process around 80-100 firearms daily (we're getting in a ton of Heritage Rough Riders since there's a $30 rebate), and trying to be at the counter the same time for the line of people picking up their firearm they ordered, which is probably in the back not yet processed. If you tell a customer it's not ready, you'll get the story about how they drove 2 hours, it is unacceptable, and they're speaking to the manager immediately. On top of the 100 different tasks the manager is doing, now they're trying to help process the firearms (trigger lock, verify manifests, tape boxes, acquire them in the bound book, go through order system to then accept the package, etc etc), and it causes more frustration on the manager which then translates to everyone's frustration. Customers are generally still at the line at the time the store is closing right now - our back vault is stacked to the ceiling of customer orders, everyone is in the Christmas spirit. Our store does not put away firearms until the very end minute of store closing. So, with the limited help due to the budget, it's generally 2 of us putting away over 400 guns each night - don't tell a customer that, though, it's another reason to be belittled by the customer and you'll hear they drove 2 hours away, and then management will have you to doing a 4473 until 9:45pm, then get the guns up! Generally speaking, you'll get out around 10:30 (store closes at 9), and be back in the next morning at 7am to open, which means you're putting guns back out that you just put away. Relevant to the video, we don't get in many of the Savage 300's. But, to be fair, we rarely sell them as well. I think we had one for over 6 months at a period there. We did get in a Savage 110 350 legend with a threaded barrel, it's actually one I'd consider. I'm not a fan of Savage AXIS, but mostly because I've had to process thousands of them, which the boxes are not an easy feat, plus the gun comes in a plastic bag. Anyways, it's cool to see you finally got one and was one of those good customers!

Boy-Howdy! Got my heart beating fast... there isn't much more exciting than getting a new rifle out of the packaging! That's a nice looking rifle, plus with the heavy barrel and Savage trigger, you should be able to squeee every bit of accuracy out of it. Regarding cheaper scopes, in the way back, I bought a K-Mart brand 3X9 thick thin cross hair scope years ago which they must have imported from Japan. It was a terrific scope over the years. I made several 400 yard shots with it using direct sight hold where the thin met the thick cross hairs. If it works, it's Gold!

Nice. A friend of mine bought an Axis last year. The scope and rings were no good but the rifle is decent. Once he replaced the scope and rings he was on target. Sucks to wait that long in line. Last week at Cabelas Calgary I waited for a few minutes, bought the rifle, buddy mounted the scope on the RA Ranch then did the escort to the door. I've got a 110 Hog Hunter and that accu trigger is nice. I did have to tighten the stock bolts after firing a couple of times so if it happens again I'll use some blue loctite.

They generally had a good selection of reloading powders and 280 caliber bullets but I never once found them to have 7mm rem mag brass in stock. Also their customer service has been crappy for at least the last 15 years. Count yourself lucky that they even had and could find what you came there to get. I almost picked that up, BUT! I ended up paying a little more and getting their exclusive Model 110 version in 6.5 creedmoor. It came paired with the Vortex Diamondback.

I got a savage axis 2 in 243 from buds with mossy oak stick. It fits the shoulder well with 13.5 lip. that shoots one hole groups. Literally .35 in 5 shots. And the thing is light and comfortable to use hiking. I locktited the bases immediately and put a fx3 6x scope on with warne rings. Used the bushnell it came with on a Walmart savage 17 that didn’t have a accutrigger but my gunsmith made it light!
