Come with me around Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand.. as we check out some of the local bird activity to be found in a typical month of May.

I’ve seen many of these birds round Phi Mai it’s nice to know what are now thank you. And I’m especially glad someone asked the Asian Kaul sound in the background. When I’ve asked all I get told is Nok 😀
@WildVision_14 жыл бұрын
haha.. yes, nok is simply the Thai word for 'bird'

Well done... some excellent footage. This is very helpful for me for working on my bird knowledge, particularly with the species where you captured the call in the shot.

Thank you! I really loved the way you did this. It gives you a few moments to try and identify the bird before you passed along the identity. Very educational.

05:30 lol at the woodpecker drumming on the scaffolding. My parents live not far from Chiang Mai, so I love looking for bird life whenever I visit them.

Great video. Must be hard to catch them, because none of the 'noble birds' (so no sparrows or mynas meant) will come to the ground where people are. Yet there was a 'flaw': You documented acoustically a very common bird - you can hear it several times throughout the clip, clearest between 1.55 and 2.15. Yet you didn't show (nor id'ed) it. Real pity.
@WildVision_15 жыл бұрын
thank you for the comment Michael, yes that bird you hear between those times is an Asian Koel (a very common member of the cuckoo family found all over Thailand). They are easily heard, but often shy to actually see.

Have you seen kzbin.info/www/bejne/f3XaeXdjjrigjsU Is there anything we expats realistically can do when we meet 'releasers' - other than looking disapprovingly and maybe adding, 'no good' (and unless it's a grown-up, vicious looking man)?
@WildVision_15 жыл бұрын
@@michaellaudahn i hate to see these captives birds, and yes that occurs all over Thailand. It's a catch 22 situation.. i want to release them purely for the birds well being, not mine. But i know if i do release them, it feeds the trade and it continues. Its exploitation of the birds for money, simple as that.
