for all of you wondering why the town centres look so miserable its done by design as buildings do have an effect on society so they have built them as ugly and bland as possible by design as a form of demoralization. this was part of a KGB playbook and its a strategy to demoralize a people.

Hard people in the north end. Used to train in a gym there in the 80's. Some lads were renowned for being hard but as long as you were friendly to them, they'd be nice as pie to you. Still lots of poverty in the area but most of its been knocked down and families move elsewhere. Great documentary on KZbin showing what it was like in the 80's. Only one man in one street had a job. And he was blind.

When i was a kid you had to camp out to look after it or the next estate would torch it. Sad as because you don't see it in Manchester anymore. They Manchester council started Wythenshawe park massive bombfire that stopped all the community ones . So that carried on for 20 year and now they say " we've got no money now " . As ive got older now i see how they have intentionally or not killed community's in so many ways.

I was just asking the lady at my local shop if bonfires like this still went on (tonight where I live I've never seen so many fireworks across the town - it was literally 360 from 5-7pm), she told me no, bemoaning health and safety! Must be just round here - they've always been a miserable bunch compared to the north west!
@fearlessjoebanzai
@fearlessjoebanzai Ай бұрын
To be fair to our community though, over the last few years it's started to come together again over festivities - I've never seen as many trick or treaters before (loads more than when I was a kid in the 80's) - and I always scoff when I hear people say that kids don't play outside on their bikes these days, because where I live they are out everyday!!!
@Mathew-z6u
@Mathew-z6u Ай бұрын
Yes mate it went on for weeks all the local kids knocking on doors or clearing wood for the bommy (maybe even remove a fence or two!) then leave a couple kids on guard whilst your out looking for more wood or you'd come back and the rats from the next street had lit it! After the fireworks became big the local authorities stopped the bonfires and at the same time the commercial side I e the shops ramped up Halloween cos there's money in that and they couldn't sell fireworks to kids (understandable) I loved bonfire night it was free fun included everyone and was a uniquely British day but don't worry you can spend loads on Halloween/valentine's day/mother's day /evening Xmas they won't go away like I said there's money in them!

I am made up the bonfire has made a comeback, they where almost eradicated in the early 2000’s. Bonfire night is back in the hands of people who enjoy it most. Nice work from all who make this possible...
