Its not even copying. If I recall the LN correctly, Great Sage basically abuses the Words of the World to communicate with Rimuru. That is why for the first half year of him being in that cave he didnt hear a voice. Out of necessity to be useful it found a way through the Words of the World to communicate directly

One thing you have to know: Raphiel (formerly great sage) is pretty much 15 quantum computers stuck together with a rudimentary AI personality. It dose as it is told prioritizing the goal over everything. In this case the goal: resurrect those killed. Options: Use available magic [Insuficient] Use available magic and sacrifice lifeforce to make up for the missing magic [Doable] No other options it then went to do that and was presented with an option: Use available magic and sacrifice lifeforce to make up for the missing magic [Doable] Absorb and use the magicules in 2 arch demons to make up for missing magicules [More acceptable] It went with the option that would do less harm to Rimiru in the long run WHILE getting its orders done

Diablo wants to serve Rimuru-sama because he was intrigued by Shizu's mask that transcends time and space. He kept an eye on her and even helped her out at times and saw that it was Rimuru who actually created the mask. He realized Rimuru is extremely powerful and has the potential to be the strongest being and be able to answer all his questions, so he decided to follow him. Plus.... he's bored AF. He figured being by his side will be fun and better than whatever he's doing now. Diablo and his descendants are...odd and that's putting it lightly. He stopped himself from getting stronger (something that drives all other demons) because it would limit the number of people he could fight. The other 6 primordials think he's a weirdo and some even hate him because of that.

The voice is not Great Sage ... Its the Voice of the World .. voice that is Heard by a person when he gains a significant skill or evolves ... the Great Sage used that voice to talk to Rimuru as he wanted in the cave ... so its the other way around .... Sage sounds like the Voice. For monsters becoming a subordinate ie swearing allegiance and or getting a name are a big deal ... they become connected to their master / namer ...the intentions of both parties and such do play into this ... And they get the benefits from their master-/namer getting stronger ... that is what is happening here Rimuru is evolving to an new class/stage of being .... and the resultting boost trickles down to all of his subordinates ... all the HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of monsters he named .... Archdaemon is the highest stage a Daemon can reach naturally ... so all top demons with out an external trigger are Archdaemons ... meaning they have similar raw power ... what make a difference is How log they are alive ... ie the Experience and Mastery they amassed .... So the Primodial Demons naturally are Archdeamons ... but they were alive for so long that its comparing it to a younger Archdaemon is not even possible So he is not wrong Noir who will become Diablo here is an Archdameon ... for Razen that means he is at most 1000 old as that is how old daemons Humans were able to summon in historical records .... in the official records that is ... and Razen is actually strong enough to defeat an 1000 year old Archdaemon ... unfortunately for the mage as he later realized ... things are much much worse than that So his reaction when he realizes what he is up against is understandable .. Primodials are beings that can go toe to toe with Demon Lords .... Spoiler And I mean Awakened Demon Lords - through mainly if they dont have Ultimate Skills So Rimuru could defeat Noir>Diablo but it would be a exhausting fight for Rimuru

Great sage did not have a voice and needed a way to communicate with her master and so she borrowed the voice of words of the world in order to speak with rimero but they are 2 separate entities.

Diablo and the red primordial are the strongest, all demons strive to gain more power since demon society are super hierarchically except one, Primordial black and those that share his color are more interested into pursuing "fun" Demons reside in the spiritual world and can not enter the regular world unless they are summoned or possess sombody except Diablo but most of his power would be suppressed when he was in the regular world, well as long as he does not receive a name and gets thousands of souls and go through an awakening like Rimuru

ok, quick note: A demon, like Diablo, is not the same thing as a demon lord. There is quite a collection of Japanese words for beings with different meanings and origins that all gets translated as "demon" into english because there is no better term for it. For example: Akuma (the term for Diablo), Mazuku (Roxy from Mushoku Tensei is one of that) or Oni (Rem, Re:Zero) Rimuru is now a Maō, that's related to Mazuku but the ō indicates a form of royal status like King. That gets sometimes really confusing I tell ya.

Not only did Rimuru summoned Noir (which for rest of the Tensura world is already extremely bad news), he also gave him a physical body (which would allow Noir to permanently stay in the human realm), he would also later name him (Diablo) which would evolve him to max level, equal to an extremely powerful Demon Lord and to top it all of, Diablo won't be the last one.

Megiddo is rimuru summoning a bunch of water spirits and having them form water lenses to concentrate the sun´rays into deadly beams(the Great sage is handling all the calculations)

Spirits can operate on energy other than Magicules which is whaťt fuels normal Magic and monsters .... this is why Rimurus Magic was restricted inside the the Barrier Hinata used on him as it purifies Magicules ... but both Ifrit and Hinatas summoning of spirits worked in the barrier As such with Megido the core is to constantly summon small water spirits to create the droplets and the lenses used to direct and concentrate sunlight ... despite puting up a Anti Magic Barrier ... that said Rimuru is summoning the spirits outside the barrier and then just have them enter it from the outside to gather watter droplets at points determined by Great Sages calculations The beams themselves are natural energy something most people dont consider as something that needs to be guarded against ...

To circumvent that protection Rimuru utilized scientific knowledge from his original world creating an attack using a pure natural force ... one which traditionally protection is not set up for ... Such Barriers work like Anti-magic Area they are put in place and remain until they are either taken down directly or run its course ... independent of the magic user. An Magical attack from outside the Barrier would hit the barrier first alerting the people under the barrier and even if the attack is powerful enough to penetrate the barrier it would cause a slight delay that gives peo0ple time to try and protect themselves or escape ...

I’m honestly torn with the idea that Diablo could actually beat TDL Rimuru at this point. Since he doesn’t have an Ultimate Skill his skills would have no effect, and while Diablo negs in experience and magic skill, Uriel’s Absolute Defense kinda just negates anything Diablo can throw at him magic wise. Even Spiritron attacks (disintegration and melt slash) can’t pierce it so idk how Diablo wins tbh.

I think, as fantastic as Slime is as an anime, it really REALLY suffers in the adaptation. It has to skip SO much. Like, genuinely I love the anime, but I've also been ahead since season 1 ended so I knew what plot threads were what, and stuff is explained. Great Sage/Raphael activating the resurrection art is one people miss a lot. Same with Words of the World versus Great Sage and then Raphael. I think the issue is that it is largely advertised as an action/adventure anime. When really it is political/economic/adventure? 🤔 Hard to say for sure. The utter disdain most people have for "all the meetings" says enough. *Light/vague spoilers below* The next season might be the last if people don't notice this difference because we're gonna be having a LOT larger meeting to combat ratio moving forward. That or people will just be utterly lost

Anime doesn't do a good job of explaining things and they cut out thingsmtoo. Great sage felt Rimuru's loneliness when he first appeared in this world and she wanted to talk to him. For 3 months she attempted to contact him and finally copied the same voice as the Words of the World (a system that controls everything so other people can hear it) so she could finally talk to him. After evolution to Raphael (which took 100 million attempts and shouldn't even be possible, but GS wanted to help Rimuru and knew her evolution would be important to him) you can hear her voice change. Diablo also kills Claymans spy (one of the 5 fingers) when he blows away that attack. Reason Razen though Diablo is just a Greater demon is because Rimuru used "Greater demon summoning" so one would expect only greater demons would show up. No one would imagine a primordial would answer. And Razen was correct when he called Diablo an Arch demon later because that's the strongest form demons can appear in this world, even if they're a primordial. They need to get a physical body and a name so they can evolve further (demon peer) if they want to become stronger. Thats also Raphael in the end, not Rimuru (hes still sleeping because of the evolution). You can tell by the voice and red eyes. Also, she knew there's not enough magicules to revive everyone and was testing Diablo and his loyalty. She knows who he really is and someone this powerful can be a threat to Rimuru unless hes 100% loyal to him. But since he instantly offered his descendants (they're demons born into his lineage) as an offering, he passed the test. I love the anime and some changes that they made (like Rimuru and Shizu's relationship) but after reading the books imwas bummed they don't explain certain things and skip others.

Diablo is also one of the most cunning characters in Tensura world. Sacrificing the other two demons in exchange for magicules isn't just to help Rimuru, it also means less competition for him when it comes ot getting Rimuru's attention. Spoiler:... He also tried to get rid of Beretta, a demon that Rimuru summoned who possessed a golem to act as Ramiris' bodyguard, but Beretta who is as cunning as him, being under his lineage, told him that killing him would be equal to desecrating Rimuru's creation, which is Beretta's body, that's why Diablo dropped the idea of getting rid of Beretta.

Many people gets confused about words of the world and the great sage, these two are completely different, easier comparison would be great sage would be personal super computer(calling it supercomputer is understatement) only for rimuru (only rimuru can hear her) and words of the world is like a computer that is common for all people, Raphael (formally great sage) takes over his body when he is unconscious during evolution that is what the red eyes represent as it was shown in season 1, and yes her voice gets more human like with evolution Rafael (formally great sage) uses words of the world's voice as it is easier to communicate with rimuru that way, but after evolution her voice gets more human like making it somewhat different from words of the world

I loved this story arc, we finally get to see Rimuru lose his shit. He is seething with rage when he arrives back in the village and seeing all the dead bodies. The cherry on top was seeing Shion! Rimuru was about to unleash hell but he refrained and he called on his comrades for a meeting. I gotta revisit and watch this again. The entire story arc changed the mood of the show. Rimuru went from being carefree and peaceful to being "Fuck around, and find out" the kingdom of Foul-mouth got their teeth knocked out and deservedly so.
