Really enjoyed hearing about the books you've read lately and totally agree that certain kinds of book covers are way more satisfying. I do think that it would be really great if you diversified the authors you read a little more - the publishing industry does tend to favour white authors so it's understandable that people end up reading more white authors, but this is something we can all work on in attempting to be anti-racist. Some brilliant books I would recommend are: - Girl, Woman, Other by Bernardine Evaristo - Queenie by Candice Carty-Williams - Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie - A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara (though would not recommend for anyone who finds storylines involving abuse and self-harm triggering) - On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong - Beloved by Toni Morrison - The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy - (this is by a white author but it's great and I thought you might enjoy it:) Daisy Jones and the Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid Would love to know what you think if you give any of these a try!

I'm so with you on preferring books to e-readers. You get excited starting a new book and opening the freshly untouched pages. You can physically see how far you have read and you get the beautiful covers. It's just a better experience and nothing beats the Smell of a new book 🥰🥰🥰

Matte book covers are lovely. I've also been known to pick books if they have the textured page edges. There's something about petting the sides of a book while you're reading that's soothing for me. :)

Agree with you about books! Sometimes I read on my phone bc it's a fast and easy way to the hold on some titles, but it always annoys me having to stare at the screen for so long. The feeling of having a physical book is half the experience

Oh yes...I do understand about books...love to hold them, smell the fresh ink and old books have a special smell, the sound of pages as I turn them...and the matte covers were new to me, but I have a new one...and the cover is velvety feeling. I just love books, they were my best friends growing up and still are. Deliah looks so pretty in the beautiful dress. Love her little vlogs and her new pink sparkly sock...her face when she saw them....priceless. Do hope your feeling better, my son is kind of going through the same thing. So I get it. I love finding old books in shops. They have a scent that just makes me happy! But I’m a careful reader, as I don’t like to break spines. I also now use bookmarks, Thoth I used to dog ear pages when I was young. Great vlog! It’s been nice to see you here more frequently again ☺️

book wise: you don't sound bonkers at all! I feel the same! Matte covers are the best ones. And nothing digital compares to actually holding the book on paper. It's so satisfying looking at one's bookshelf... Besides, even your pile books are aesthetically pleasing! A nice pastel palette (I say this so you don't feel weird talking about how they look. Lots of people work on a book cover precisely for that, to make them appealling to the eye and touch, so no shame in apreciating them!). Delilah, OF COURSE you are beautiful! extremely cute too. xx

Can I recommend The song of Achilles - I loved it and you'll be glad to know its chunky and has a beautiful matt cover. I totally understand what you mean with the YA books, I stopped reading them when I was about 15 because they seem so repetitive and almost fantasy. The song of Achilles will dip your toe into the modern classics genre which could lead you to more traditional classics. Which seem pretty daunting at first but are really rewarding

It's so good, I love Madeleine Miller's work so much I wish she had more books to read! I read Circe too and I honestly think it's one of my favorite books ever (I really like the female protagonist perspective)

I felt similarly about call me by your name! I thought it was written beautifully but the process of reading it felt very unfulfilling and almost frustrating. I think if I'd read it at home in rainy England I would have hated it, but reading it on a balcony/by the pool in Italy definitely made it better!

Delilah has gotten so grown up these past few months it's incredible. I thought she'd finally slowed down a bit and then she's straight back to growing and maturing haha. It's incredible, kids are incredible. Speaking of kids, I just became an auntie for the first time ever! And I bought the baby loves books like (baby loves aerospace engineering, baby loves gravity etc) but otherwise I'm not sure what to get especially as he gets older. If anyone has any recommendations that'd be wonderful!

I switched to kindle years ago when I did 3 intercontinental moves in 5 years. I did get used to it and haven't gone back since. If I'm really craving a paper experience I take some out from the library. I wouldn't even call the kindle a screen really, it's like e-paper lol. But I do understand the love of the physical experience.
