Awesome video, Heath! I've been to Graceland... but now I need to take a trip to Tupelo. Very cool stuff.

It's a cool place for Elvis history! Thanks for checking out this vid. It's one of my favorite things I've ever done, but also one of the least-watched videos we've ever had. I appreciate you watching!

Again, I agree! I hope to visit both of those places when the pandemic passes. I've already had the joy of visiting Graceland in Memphis as well as Sun Records. I need to plan another Memphis trip when it's safe to check out the Stax museum of soul music, too.

Rip Elvis Presley, you’ll be remembered for music and cinema and introducing Kurt Russel and of course the king of rock. Great memorial/tribute video

Thanks for shooting this video. I'm actually a local to Tupelo and I have never been inside the birth home or museum. I have been to Graceland many times as an Elvis fan but I guess knowing its been there my whole life, (well, the birthplace atleast) that I took it for granted. Now I really want to go check it all out for myself. So thanks!

My pleasure! I made this video to share the history of the area with people, so I'm glad that you're interested and I HIGHLY recommend a visit to some of these sacred rock and roll locations.

Great video Heath! When I was growing up, my mom was a huge Elvis fan. Because of her I listened to a lot of Elvis as a kid and saw a lot of Elvis movies. I haven't revisited the movies in quite some time, but I think I need to. She got to see Elvis live in the mid70s, on one of his last tours, in Hartford (I grew up in New England). She's headed to Tennessee for the first time on vacation next week but I am not sure Graceland is on her itinerary (she's travelling with her sister who is not an Elvis fan.

I love all the Elvis movies, but there are some stone-cold classics in his film catalog. King Creole is probably my favorite. Also, that's really great to hear about your mom headed to Tennessee! There's so much history there, tons of museums in the Nashville area, Graceland, Sun Studios, and Stax in Memphis, and even a bunch of cool stuff in Chattanooga. I hope she has a blast.

There's two things when I think of Tupelo. Elvis' birthplace and the WCW Uncensored '96 Doomsday Cage Match. Obviously the former is #1.

You should do a video of your top five or top ten favorite Elvis movies. And just tell us why you love them. This is awesome man. I'm loving your channel!!! I got a soft spot for some of the corny ones. Like don't get me wrong Jailhouse Rock, Loving you, king Creole they're really good. But I keep going back to Girl Happy, Tickle Me, Fun in Acapulco, Clambake. Viva Las Vegas is always awesome fun.

That's a fun video idea, and we will probably do an entire Elvis Movie video at some point in the future. We love them all, the good AND the not-so-good. A top five right now would probably consist of: King Creole (I think his best film) Viva Las Vegas Clambake (Shelley Fabares is fantastic and this one also has Bill Bixby) Flaming Star (cool western co-starring Barbara Eden with a crazy ending) Blue Hawaii (classic) But this list changes all the time, depending on our mood. We love them all!

By the way @Ovidio Olivo If you're into Elvis movies, we highly recommend this book, which has detailed essays on every movie he made as well as behind the scenes info and a critical appreciation of the movies that are dismissed or overlooked. It's really great. www.amazon.com/Elvis-Films-FAQ-Thats-Hollywood/dp/1557838585

Amazing that the hardware store is still there. Did anything at the gift shops grab your wallet? I had a neighbor who claimed to have seen Elvis in the 70s. She was a bit flaky and I was a kid at the time so I was never sure what to believe but she described him as magical even though he was slipping at that point. She looked reverential as she spoke about him. For a national treasure and such I find it odd that I almost never hear Elvis on the radio.

Would you believe that hardware store was actually super-busy, too? Not with Elvis people, either, but with people coming in for auto parts and general store needs. Bree grabbed a shirt from the store and I got the Elvis cardboard cutout that's now living in the studio from the Birthplace gift shop. I also bought a coffee mug, but that was about it. And that's such a great point about never hearing Elvis on the radio. It just speaks to how much the major corporations are controlling everything. First Clear Channel Media and now iHeartRadio seems determined to force feed us the same 30 songs for the rest of our lives.

@@CerealAtMidnight That's cool about the store. I miss old school hardware stores. You never knew what you might find in there. I was recently lamenting the loss of DJs with knowledge and personality. Even when you hear one he/she does not have much time to talk. I'm reminded of a Simpsons episode where two radio talk shows guy were replaced by a robot with sound effects.

I have a video coming up that I think you’ll enjoy. It’s still in the planning stages, but it’s got something to do with the radio revolution of the 70s and the last gasp of independent DJs.
