Fat = flavor
@GlaciusDreams3 жыл бұрын
@@LawDog88 not true in gravy. More fat than needed to thicken with flour actually detracts from flavor. It's not like marbling in a steak or any effect like that. Also this is agreed on by literally every developed cuisine in the world. Source: culinary training.
@GlaciusDreams3 жыл бұрын
@@LawDog88 in fact just to add to this, more fat than needed for the cooking process takes away flavor from nearly anything. For example Mac and cheese would lose a TON of its flavor if you just dumped in a very neutral or even a fat that tastes good with it (bacon fat). Yet mac and cheese has a ton of delicious fat in it. Because it's needed in the cheese and the emulsifying or thickening mixture to create the product properly. Anything extra and less of the flavor will actually hit your tongue.

Made this today, Xmas Eve morning. Delicious and very easy! A few notes from my experience. I cooked sausage first and used that pan to cook 4 pieces of bacon, which produced 2 tablespoons of bacon grease. Instantly built the crazy right in that same pan. All the pan remnants made a GREAT gravy. I used Adobo plus onion powder and extra pepper for the All Purpose Seasoning. Tip: don't make the gravy too thick because it will continue to thicken in the oven. Next time I'll make extra gravy to drizzle over top when serving

Cook your bacon on a foil lined sheet pan in the oven at 375°-420°, 15-20min depending on how you like it. No splatter, bacon stays flat, doesn’t “Krinkle” up, depending on your sheet pan you can usually cook the whole pound at once, and the drippings come out better also, not so much of the burnt stuff in it. Or don’t, you be you. Good video, will definitely try this.

That way I get the great sausage flavor in the gravy and you don't have to dress it up with seasonings other than salt & pepper. Give it a try, I bet you will like it.

This man needs his own tv show!! I learn from him every video. btw- about saving the bacon grease - my momma and daddy would have spanked my butt when I was a child if I ever threw out bacon grease. In the south bacon grease is gold! It makes veggies so good and many other things.

I made this yesterday and it was amazing I couldn't find the garlic butter so I just made regular sausage gravy but it was so good everyone loved it

I've never seen garlic butter in the store...didn't know you could buy it pre-made...I always make my own, especially for garlic bread.

I looked up the garlic butter seasoning online so when I can I will order it that way
