Just so you guys know, turning into a mind flayer doesn't actually just change your body, it's closer to mind flayer consuming your body, brain and consuming your memories and copying them. In that process your soul gets destroyed which in dnd terms means that you won't get to afterlife and pretty much lose yourself and become a husk with your memories. It's something like making an AI chatbot of a dead person, it may sound and act like that person but in reality is just an imitation that will get corrupted by itself if enough time passes.

Just a heads up, you could have still recruited Shadowheart at the start. The game temporarily allows you a larger party during the tutorial area, since after the crash your party is disbanded anyway. A dnd turn is 6 seconds. Karlach and one of the orc bros went on the same turn. The cultists basically watched an ilithid orc and a tiefling with a demon machine in her chest spewing flames out of her shoulders take down their God's avatar to within a inch of its life in JUST 6 SECONDS only for one brave cultist to try and stop it before the second ilithid orc finished it off. It took 24 seconds for them to see their God's avatar get turned into mince meat with nothing but decaying gnome bodies.

One of my favorite game moments in a game, I think our first 5e game, but might've been Pathfinder or an earlier edition involved a similar concept. We were imprisoned and forced into arena combat. Because I had been failing a bunch of stuff, I was mute, blind, deaf (gagged, blindfolded, etc.) and very exhausted. I could truly do nothing. The rest of the party were not such failures. One of my party members had no weapon. The one thing I did have. He could've simply taken it. Instead, he asked the DM if he could wield me like a flail, with the mace in my hand. I was a halfling. The DM allowed it. I think it gave it reach but also some penalty to hit. I was so happy to just participate in any way 😂

Bardic Inspirations only trigger if they're needed. Meaning if the inspired character's attack roll is too low and he would miss, Bardic Inspiration will fire and add another 1dX (X depends on the Bard's level). They can also be used in a similar manner for saving throws. Took me a while to figure that one out. Problem with "left-over" inspiration on a character when they're exploring is that it'll also trigger on a failed skill-check. So if a character has to do, say, a survival check because of a hidden chest and fails the roll, the inspiration will be used up to try and make the roll succeed. So it's probably not a great idea to simply put inspirations on everyone in your party as a morning ritual. IMO, they're best used in combat - preferably by the Bard himself. Especially in late game when everyone can get pretty insane buffs to their saving-throws - Anointed in Splendor, Heroes' Feast, etc. I usually use them for myself since I play a Sword Bard and he needs them for those awesome flourishes. Still: If I have my bonus action left over at the end of my turn and nothing more to do otherwise, I will sometimes put an inspiration on someone who could use it either for offense or defense.

My god thank you for explaining this, I knew it was only a buff for the attack roll/saving throw but it never triggered after a half hour or so of wandering around in act one... So I just used it like guidance and then respec'd into a sorcerer since it's a more damage focused class.

To hit the final boss with throwing weapons you just have to aim anywhere on the brain stem. Sadly, explosives will drop down into the void before they explode if you throw them there. Instead, you have to ignite a platform adjacent to the brain and throw them onto the fire. This was not a fun problem to troubleshoot on my Honour mode run where the majority of my damage came from a throwzerker.

Fun fact despite being 3 months. In the beginning tutorial there is no party cap, you can have 4 players, laezel and shadowheart. Its the only time I believe its possible to go over the cap, likely option is the cap is just disabled because Laezel is required so it wouldnt work 4 players, and then it would be weird to save Shadowheart and then say "your party is too full" on the crashing ship about to kill them all.

I think you may have a misconception as to how Bardic roll is used in a combat sense. It reads that it will work on your NEXT roll. The way to save this turning combat is to turn your passive Bardic roll feature off (so that it doesn't burn the roll on whatever random check goes next) and then turn it back on before you are ready to commit to the action you wish to get buffed by the ability. The nature of the ability is intended for it to provide an unexpected boost to whatever comes along the way next, so learning to control the ability by it's fundamental nature will be difficult but it's not impossible.

While Connor is a G I don't think hes viable for the whole game as he doesnt level up, dosent scale, dosent benefit from player perks or feats (excluding the oathbreakers aura of hate) only has 22hp i mean technically anything is possible, but you can only get one of him and only one paladin can be buffing him, so it would mostly be a slog in any battle where theres more than 1 enemy also summons can't enter the portal during the final boss so if you somehow got there you'd just fail at the end by default

I used nyrulna against the netherbrain. You cant properly aim with throwing weapons. What i did was to aim at the brain by clicking at its portrait at the turn order above instead of the enemy directly

Many years ago I was playing rol with some friends and I was supposed to make a rope get to the other side, and I kept failling, until I picked a gnome in the party and threw him along the rope tip xD the good thing about playing barbarian xD

In a pathfinder game I was part of, We played an 'all full-caster' party of just gnomes... One guy spent all of his money building a flying a ship, which we christened the 'Gnome-ageddon'. Only partially related, but all the 'Gnome' puns reminded me of it, lol

@@hag8752 just finished another playthrough and I discovered you actually CAN save her. I think it's dependent on saving Wyll's dad, but he can actually convince her to return to Avernus. You, Wyll and Karlach decide to go there as a group and rip and tear.

@@hag8752 I was SO happy when she agreed to return to Avernus. Also made the most sense for my character since I'd become a mindflayer. I'm a potential threat to everyone, so going to Avernus is probably a good idea. Now I just want a DLC based on that ending.

I did a whole playthrough like this where I kept beldrond and used exclusively him for my whole playthrough. I remember doing 89 damage to grym boss by throwing beldron from above. I’m surprised somebody else did a similar campaign 😂

It’s a little late, but if you want to go to the second floor of felgroy’s toys, you have to go discover the plan to plant bombs in arfur’s basement, go disarm the toys, confront arfur (he’ll give you the password) then go to the toys and have fun

The way Bardic Inspiration works is it must be casted on a party member first before the party member can use it, not sure if you knew that but that might've been why it never triggers.😅

tip: on the nautiloid you can have more than the regular game's full party size because its scripted so the laezel and shadowheart can both join you in the final fight to get off the ship

There is gnothing more amusing than gneutralizing your egnemies with a hither-to-fore ugnkown method. Brilliantly played, but I must ask, "why gnot use g oblins"? More abundant and of the same relative size and mass and gnomes. But as Sam Kinson said, "Good answer! Good answer! I like the way you think! I'm gonna be watching you!"
