Chris, I suggest to put the parts in the sun or posture them with heat before painting to make sure they will not move or shrink showing the cloth texture again, that's what we do with boats

One thing you can do if you want rivets visible and still have parts removable, you could install nut plates. In aerospace we use all types of nut plates, some with the threading on the side, some in between and all types of sizes, could be a cool look if you want to incorporate that

Chris, could you use a piece of solid rod to kinda make your own super trofeo GT3 style racing mirrors? 3D print or plasma cut a block off plate for the mount. Attach the rod, bend it how you want to suit the body line...then attach mirror face. Kinda think it would go along the cyberpunk theme.

For the bullet hole fender: you need to shoot a real piece of metal and then just bond the metal smooth with the custom fender. Those bullet holes in fiber glass don’t look punk.

For factory pannels, Fusor ( 108B) is what's used to glue pannels on. If anyone at home decides to try something like this ha. Its a 2 part , but goes into one gun. Really easy to use. If you glue 2 pieces of metal together, the metal will rip before the fusor ripps.

@steveseeger2 ай бұрын
If you had time you could 3D print mirrors, even the camera holders like Audi has for their concepts that use cameras instead. You can directly print in PPA-CF if you get a hardened steel nozzle. That material is as strong as steel and high heat resistance, but pricey.
@david9291902 ай бұрын
Your vision in builds always cpmes together so ill trust that the apocalypse theme works out. Just seems like you'd come so far with making your own body panels and then you went away from a clean build because you needed a door skin and quarter you could jave made.

17:25 Okay Chris, how many weeks do you have til SEMA? 2-3? - how do you have the priorities, to go to a gun range to shoot a panel ans create another whole design aspect - when the right front fender PLUS Headlights are still missing?! I've watched your channel since 5 or 6 years now and EVERY time your timeline towards SEMA was unrealistic and immensly stressful, - starting to experiment with headlight design? Dude, for the lights alone this process has to start at least 6-8 weeks out. And in general - you cannot throw a SEMA car together in a total of 8 weeks. Especially not a crashed one AND with a widebody cyberpunk-redesign. I don't get it. Every year: "8 weeks to SEMA - let's start!" 🤯🤯🥴

I've had a lot of doubts along the way. I don't thinks it's possible to ruin the car since someone else already did that. So at this point it's a build back with your own flare. And at the end of the day car building is a personal flavor type of thing. It's kinda seeming more post apocalypse than cyberpunk currently.

think of it like star wars futuristic, lots of cobbled together junky aesthetics there as well . I kinda like the vibe he's going for and he's not "ruining" the car since most body panels were trashed anyway, but I do wish he had a bit more time to do some stuff properly.

If you used hollow points on the resin fiberglass body panel, maybe the reason why you had no penetration was the round had nearly double the surface area, of that of a solid core round, and far better expansion properties too. These are just some of the reasons why hollow points are notorious terrible for dealing with armored targets.

About that mirror thing. Why not put a nice retro mirror on the car (like camaro 85-91), and at far out point of the mirror put a small camera. Then put a 7" screen on the place of the glass on camaro mirror. Then you get mirror image from a spot 12"-13" out, but it will still being viewed on the right place..
