I hope you get your wish. So you know: you can travel from Rome on a train that will take you to a funicular that climbs the hill to the city above. It is all very doable. And Orvieto is a beautiful city to walk in. So sedate, especially compared to the noisy excitement that is Rome. Buon viaggio!

I was there with 2,000 peoples on the way from Florence to Rome last week. The Cathedral from outside is very gigantic and beautiful, but very simple in the inside. That's what faith is all about, simplicity in the inside.

It's been all over the news a big quake in central italy, lots of medieval buildings wrecked. Dunno if it was in this place exactly or not but it says central italy in the descrip.
