@adriennegormley93584 жыл бұрын
Trust me; too many tourists are that stupid. When we lived in Bozeman MT, many times Pg 1 of the local newsrag would have a story of tourist stupidity in Yellowstone. 1. Mom sees bear, says to kid, "Ooh, want a picture with Yogi" and sticks kid on bear's back. Bear mauls kid. 2. Toddler swinging toy and it goes sailing off into Grand Prismatic Spring; Dad runs out to grab toy to shut kid's crying up (and mom's nagging) and ends up parboiled. 3. One I saw on Fountain Flats (off main road behind lower geyser basin), guy with camera on tripod trots off into the middle of a bison herd to take photos. Mom said, "He's an idiot. Not staying here to watch him get gored." We left. 4. Tourist sees a bear cub near the cabin the family is staying at that night, goes Oooh and goes over to pet it. Mama Bear does as Mama Bears do and tourist ends up a casualty. You know, the usual stupid tourist tricks.

@@blakesleyk.7166 I looked up that "blanket from Washington," & although the design is by Diné artist Jared Yazzie, the 100% wool blanket itself is not only out of stock, it was "imported," but doesn't say from where. I suppose having it made in the US or Canada (or Mexico, or even South America!) might be just too danged pricey! Even so, I don't think $203 is outrageous for what's being offered, but many would. It seems they tried hard to keep the price WAY down, which is sort of sad, but what with all the unemployment due to the pandemic I could see the reasons for doing so. Still.... I'm not native either but can I recommend visiting the National Museum of the American Indian in DC. I took my kids a couple years ago. Walking around the different floors they have exhibits of many tribes represented showing how they lived with tons of artifacts. After spending about 2 hours, it all of a sudden hit me. Most of these tribes never met, they are from every different kind of climate and geography that North American offers. Nowadays, we can find life hacks on Google or KZbin in a few seconds. It is so easy to share information. For example, the Seminole and the Navajo would've never ever met and they both were from completely different environments with different available resources, etc. The most important thing was they found there own individual way to survive and thrive and it's all there in the Museum. I could've spent days there, it was a revelation.

In Idaho, back in the mid-1970's my family's home sat across a two lane road from a pasture where about 6 Bison were kept. Our house was up on a small hill with a kind of steep incline from the road. The had a 4 foot horizontal plank fence - pretty close to the edge of that slope. It was only about a 12 foot slope down to the highway. One day my sister and I were walking home from school, I was in the 7th grade and she was in the 6th grade. Behind us, we thought we heard s horse's hoofs coming at a pretty good clip. I automatically thought it was my friend who lived in the house we had just walked passed some 5 minutes earlier. My sister and I both turned to look and saw one of the Bison coming down the road right at us. We broke into a run, and were fortunately, almost at the base of the little hill...scampered up it and my sister climbed the fence and was over it about 1 second before me. I had one leg over the top and the other one on top of it. Then that Bison hit that fence and the force of the blow flung me over into the yard. I quickly got up and ran into the house. We called the rancher and then went outside and watched as he tried to get not only that Bison back into the pasture but 2 others that got out. The one that chased us, slammed into the driver side pick-up truck door and moved that pick-up truck sideways. The man did get them rounded up finally. We also had a cow pasture behind our house, and I had a young dog that would go sniff around back there. The cows would always shy away from her, even though she ignored them. I use to climb the fence and go get her. She was still puppy-ish and had hit that adolescence stage where they ignore ya and act like they have never been taught anything...lol. But when she crossed the paved road and into that Bison pasture, I was too afraid to go get her and and would stand by the fence, yelling for her to come to me, and watch in horror as those animals would hunker together then walk towards her..snorting and 'digging graves' with their front hooves. She would finally come when I called her but I was always afraid that one day they would kill her. Cows run... Bison Don't !!!

When people do stuff like that, they don't just put their own lives at risk. If they manage to get themselves killed, they often condemn the animal to death, even if it was provoked. Especially if it happens near where people live or use the space. Like if you walk up to a cub in the forest and get killed by a charging sow, the authorities aren't going to be interested in standing there listening to the details of how it was your own fault. They'll kill the bear (or a similar bear). Same for leaving food out for wild animals. If you know anyone who's done this, please tell them to stop, and direct them to the story about the people who left out food to attract a bear for photos and ended up getting the bear (again or a similar bear) killed. Including bird feeders if you live in bear country. Part of me feels like everyone already knows this, then I see that lady walking up that bison in my head. This is the second video I've seen of some idiot getting WAY too close to a bison, trying to "pet it"... Like can we return to having a healthy understanding and respect for all life on this earth? I'm not nihilistic enough to just call it population control, but I'd probably care a lot less if the animal didn't get killed over it. Even "nuisance" animals are shot. The bear that was lured by food never hurt anyone. It was just coming into the neighbourhood. It's the animals getting killed for no legitimate reason that really bothers me.
@laurajarrell61873 жыл бұрын
Jade Laurel, I'm so glad you posted this. Yes, people feeding wild animals, get those animals killed. Even if they just raid garbage, fear of lawsuit governs the 'authorities'. The rangers at our parks will try moving them, sometimes, but it doesn't work if they get too used to it. 👍🥰✌😷🎃

I feel like this happens a lot because people just don't have any respect for nature. Some people think the National Parks are petting zoos. These are wild animals and they will F up your sh*t, and it says so plastered all over every park newspaper and sign. But I feel like you shouldn't have to be told by an authority not to approach wildlife. It seems so obvious to me, anyway. These creatures don't know you or your intentions; they only know their instincts, which is to protect their young or their territory or to find food etc. I think everyone should take the time to learn about the environment and other species - their ecological value, their needs, their behaviors, etc. Maybe then people would regard plants and animals and water (etc etc) as having their own rights, instead of treating them like they are owned by us and therefore should be subservient to our desires or whatever. Cuz the only experience most people have is with domesticated animals, and so they walk around assuming everything is docile, with no regard for life forms and intelligences beyond the control of humanity; they assume all living things bow before us or some crap, and don't even stop to think that all beings have a right to exist for their own sake (thanks to bs western concepts like God giving Adam dominion over the earth, and manifest destiny, and other equally white-centric ego-driven garbage). Wasn't there a woman a while back the put honey on her child's hand for a bear to lick off and the bear ended up biting off the kids hand??? Ignorance and lack of respect are flat out dangerous. And yeah it often gets the "problem animal" executed or relocated - like we haven't done enough to disrupt their habitats and communities already. Ugh. So yeah, every time I see a tourist at Yellowstone get close to a bison, I want to scream. Sorry for the rant. I'm just really tired of other organisms having to suffer because of human arrogance and stupidity.

Great channel, guys! I was naturally skeptical at first, but delighted to find it not only entertaining and fun, but educational and enlightening as well. I learned the difference between a buffalo and a bison, the difference between "native inspired" and "inspired native" and just how industrious and clever people can be when reacting to another human's incredibly stupid action. Very interesting stuff! Well done, guys! Best of luck in growing this channel and I'll look very forward to your next post!

Leilababy89 be careful with RSO. I was in the medical marijuana program a while ago and have seen many people using naphtha to process RSO. Naphtha is a paint thinner. And obviously not for human consumption, just be aware and make sure you’re only using trusted sources. There’s a way to process it with alcohol but is much more expensive hence why some people use naphtha. Again only use trusted sources.
