I can tell you that life teaches you how old you really are. It started at 40 when playing football with my nephews and I ran out for a pass and my upper body got out over my legs but my legs couldn't get back up under me and I smashed and separated my shoulder. Then in my 50's I finally took videos of myself doing bag work with strikes from punches and kicks...and, well it wasn't as pretty as it felt to me - it was massively slower than I believed. Then at 58, I got in a ring with a younger man by 20 years and he just scoffed at my power (lack of). I think what gets left out of the saying "the last thing to go is power", is that power includes speed and torque (from stored tension) both of which must diminish over time. The theme of my message here is that lions (men), unfortunately, have to be knocked down, knocked out, (or filmed and shamed :)) before they believe that their time is up. I am very worried these short video clips of Mike (at who knows what speed) are just making him believe too much (unless he's juicing - then who knows?). At 61, in decent shape, I know a bit about this cognitive dissonance. I really wish Mike good luck. I'll be rooting for him!
