Your "Bit by a Wombat" story is like my "Bit by a Shark" story. Many years ago I was on Dangar Island in the Hawkesbury River at a friends weekender. Some locals had caught some small sharks nearby and put them on the local wharf. I used my foot to try to turn one so I could see the mouth and my big toe brushed against a tooth and drew some blood. So 60 years later and now living in Canada I still talk about the time I got "Bit by a Shark". Recently became a Patron and really enjoy your videos and lifestyle.

What a great place! It's amazing when you think at the top of Everest there are sea fossils. So even at 29,000ft above sea level you'll find evidence of life dating back 65,000,000 years. Then there are the white cliffs of Dover. All dead sea creatures. We are but a breath on this planet. Glad you are making the most of it! Take care.

Thanks for taking us on your excellent adventures. Wombats are certainly single minded and that extends to their customary pathways. If you want to know how single minded, try putting up a mesh fence or a tent on one, they will just go straight through. You can identify their paths by their scats which are rectangular in cross section. I've no idea why they're rectangular but I have a theory. Since they don't deviate from their paths, if the scats were round they'd roll to one side or the other and they'd step in them. Disclaimer; it's possible that theory isn't true. Q. What do you play with a wombat? A. Wom.

Another delightful episode. It’s always extra special when a place you hold dear and have special memories of is highlighted. Your footage of the wombats is just delightful. There certainly weren’t that many wombats on my first trip as a high school student in the 70’s and I have never been bitten by one during any subsequent trips. The corby grubs did make a mess of my groundsheet though. I appreciate your attention to detail across all areas of geographical features, wild life and history. The height of the cliffs and gaps between the rocks atop Bishop and Clerk are vertigo inducing. Not sure if you had time, but Mt Maria is also well worth the climb. It is a joy to watch your explorations. 💕

Free Range Sailing Corby grubs are lawn grubs that feed on grass roots and organic matter in the soil. The campsite at Maria Is use to be down beside the creek on a lovely area of lawn. When fully grown in winter corby grubs are about 15 mm long. They are widespread and serious pests of pasture in Tasmania especially in coastal areas and on well-drained, light soils. At night they emerge to feed on the foliage of clovers, grasses and some weeds. And as I found, also plastic ground sheets. I think I may have cut off their air supply. My army green ground sheet with orange tape repairs lasted many a year after! 😉
