Good vid. I am not a huge turbo guy so you've kinda lost me sadly. But I'll always be rooting for ya, and checking in on your Garage Sale videos, if there are anymore. Also, I love you're childhood stories, and monologue at the beginning of your Garage sale videos. Always entertaining.

Love me some pc engine/turbo grafx. Only had little tastes of it as a kid, but it always fascinated me. Games held such an aura of mystery and awe. Years later I would get the system and gather a few games. Love it. So many treasures. Keep it up, man.

I never liked shooters till you started to do playthroughs of them, now they are all I play! I'm trying to start collecting PC Engine shooters too since I have a Duo-R I never play and these videos are actually pretty helpful to know what games to avoid and what to expect to pay. Oh I also discovered Out For Justice because of one of your old intros, that movie was fucking amazing! I've been watching you since day one and you are still the best.

One of the nice things about the PC Engine, is that it has quite a few shooters that are quite different on the system. Fantasy Zone is excellent on the system, the only version that is better is the Saturn version, but not by a huge margin. Love the Darius series, the weapon power-up system and the stage procession work really well. The Vita (and the PS4) have the latest incarnation with Darius Burst.

Awesome videos bruh! I love my Pc Engine! Unfortunately, my sound board crapped out so I had to buy another one. One of the best, if not the best systems for shumps. Sapphire and Rayxanber 3 probably have the best graphics. My favorite shmup on it though is Gates of Thunder. Cool name, rockin soundtrack, sound effects, graphics and the game moves great which for a shmup is I think most important in making it playable.....

I agree. Sapphire was ahead of it's time for a system that old. It had lasers like that of Layer Section on the Sega Saturn, some polygonal graphics and nice metallic rendering in some areas. Great shmup.

Aha! finally somebody who shares my feelings about Pokemon GO! The old guard... Okay, i will try to help you Bithead1000. I strumbled about your channel by a recommendation from one of Ander's videos, a guy doing mostly pen&paper RPG stuff, his handle is woodwwad. He said he was not very much into video games but enjoyed your channel. Well, i am into video games and that made me curious. And i see why. Your approach is very different from classical retro channels. Its better, it really is. I'd label it console retro garage sale subculture if i had to pick a label. A strong point you really got going here: you talk a lot about games. The context, you know, how it was back then. If somebody would write a well researched review about the evolution of games encompassing that time, there is no better channel for it. None, period. Plus you like shooters. The real shooters, vertical/horizontal hardcore 8-bit shmups. You play R-Type with passion (level 3), that is all i have to know. I come from a slightly different subcultre in Germany. Back then it was C64, Amiga 500 and that stuff. Yes there were old Atari's, Nitendos and Sega Genesis around. Mario, Bomberman and Thunderforce III, Phantasy Star IV, but most gaming revolved around home computer systems, Commodore cornered that country at the time. This was a time where video games weren't a multi million dollar business and people concentrated for the most part on creating the best games they could imagine without development shedules. This changes with the era, you noticed it, too, when you talk about the Metroid series, for example. *long stare* Along the way something changed. I realize your heartblood is in this garage sale thing. That is fine and useful as it builds an understandig of the subculture. But if you have a really bad season and i know home computers are simply not your thing, when it comes down to it, but how about covering some arcade stuff (like Konami's Aliens for example)? Just to fill the gaps, you know. I know you have to fill that cabinet of yours but this is an option. The arcades back then... why did we ever stop doing that, i ask you? Hardware is expensive due the collection value but there are always emulators around, you know. And i know this is technically not your area of focus but try the C64 version of Denaris/Katakis (not the A500 one, thats a very, very different game). Or maybe a SEGA Turrican? Keep up the good work, man. It is really appreciated. This is historical work you do here, man. Like being a curator in an vidoe game museum. It really is.
@BitHead1000

If I were to sink my teeth into computers, the C64 and the Amiga would be my first choice! I'Ve always had a strong curiosity for Amiga because I have never even seen one, let alone play one. For a long period of time I would watch one Amiga long play after another. Great to have a friend in Germany. One day I will have to review my German WW2 K98 Mauser bolt action rifle.

Bithead you really should play the pokemon games. They are classic gameboy rpgs and honestly the biggest reason to even have a gameboy besides maybe tetris . Maybe it's hard to appreciate if you weren't a kid in the late 90s/early 2000s, but they're great games.

I wish things were different here in Australia and I wish the PC Engine was marketed more here. I was a big shmup fan back when I was a teen in the mid eighties. I only heard of the PC Engine when I bought a copy of CVG back in 92 or 93. There was a games shop called Video Games Heaven in the mid 90's that had a PC Engine for sale but the games couldn't be bought. Shame the games now days are so expensive. I'm sorry but, even though I like SEGA, there shitty marketing for the Master System and Mega Drive was a let down. I wish I never got into SEGA consoles. I don't really like them.
