Dude you're becoming my favorite KZbin guy. I loved the Turbo growing up and my love for Ys Book 1 & 2 is crazy high. Fun as hell to see a guy that feels the way you do about the Turbo and Pc Engine, every time I watch I wind up on Ebay spending cash on more games. Well it has taken me almost 2 months but I finally found the time to sit down with a 6 pack and enjoy the entirety of the video. But boy was it worth the wait. It is unbelievable how many amazing games you have picked up since focusing on pce shooters. Not a bad one among them (I just pretend Deep blue doesn't exist). Hard to pick a favourite. Probably Sapphire but I have always loved Override. The charge shot in that is awesome. Great stuff mate. Looking forward to more pce vids

The Playstation 1 comes in handy for some shooters as well (imports mostly). In The Hunt has an optional arranged soundtrack and the slow down isn't as bad. Better versions of games like Donpachi, DoDonpachi, Raystorm, etc... You also have games like Einhander, Philosoma, Gradius Gaiden, R-Type Final, G-Darius, etc... There are up to 65 or more shooters for the PS1. Some PS2 games like Gradius 5 and Silpheed are really good also.

There is an English translated rom of Valkyrie no Densetsu that can be enjoying on an Everdrive if you are so inclined. One of the best reasons to own one is the fan translations! Nice collection, big spender.

Damn BH. Cracked up when I saw the briefcase because that's exactly the same one I got for my PCE collection a few years back. Mine holds 100, so I limited myself to that many. You should add Metal Stoker to your pickup list -- would be curious to see what you think of it.

Since you and I seem to have very similar taste in shooters, I have a couple of suggestions for you: 1- If you haven't already, please give Dragon Spirit a real chance. Sit down with the intention to beat it and I'm sure you will grow to love it, especially since you dig RType and Image Fight, as it's cut from the same mold. 2- Try Lost Sunheart if you like Download as it plays similarly and it's weird as shit as well.

Just last night I was playing it, had the music through the stereo system and was in one of those trance like states, with my focus only on the brilliant level design and the soundtrack. The music IS reason enough to play that game. Heck, I even commented to my wife that sometimes I sit down to listen to music, which just so happens to be part of a game. Dragon Spirit is one of those. Yeah, Dungeon Explorer is probably, overall, a stronger soundtrack, but some of the tracks in this game give it a run for its money.

Everything I can find online suggests that Street Fighter II CE card is physically larger to fit additional ROM chips and the necessary mapper hardware. I can’t find anything suggesting otherwise or that it was a lie. ROM is memory in a cartridge system as far as the system is concerned (maps to memory). The closest I can find is an article calling the fatter jewel case a “lie,” claiming that there was no need for the jumbo-sized case except to make people feel like they are getting their money’s worth. I can see how that could be misinterpreted for the card/housing itself. They did use the extra jewel case space for a mini art/comic book.

Was pretty dissapointed with Cotton myself, it's good, but not a $100+ game in my opinion. Very nice collection, makes mine look weak by comparison haha, although I get distracted and collect for other consoles. I agree that R-Type and Gate of Thunder are the best horizontal shooters on the engine, my favorite vertical shooter on the Pc engine is certainly Soldier Blade. I was going to tell you about a Hudson shooter on the Virtual Boy called Vertical Force, it's extremely similar to the other Hudson shooters, however there's a nice twist added where you can switch between planes to dodge enemy fire, very interesting, have been playing it quite a lot recently, my retinas are probably destroyed because of it. Rayxanber II is one tough son of a bitch, I can't make it past the first level!

I have also been meaning to buy Rondo of Blood, but the $200 price point makes me cringe, I own it on the Wii virtual console and have an unofficial copy for the Pc engine, but it's such a damn good game that it's worth emptying my bank account for, however I have been meaning to buy Radiant Silvergun and Metal slug on the Neo geo CD as well.

Re-watched this again and about your question about Ys Book 1&2. I didn't get to play it on it's release so after all the praise it was the first game I bought on my TG16 and PC Engine adventure . After Plateformers and shooters, my favorite games are RPG's. I'll be honest, I had to MAKE myself play it. Music and cut scene's are still fantastic, but the rest is just bland. Especially the story.... Oh that story is barely so non existent I was hugely disappointed. Overall my feelings on it are I'm glad I bought it for the music alone and to find out for myself that it just doesn't hold up today for me. Exile and Cosmic Fantasy 2 are leagues ahead as far as RPGs go in comparison in my opinion. I find I'm right with you 99% of the time on game opinions/taste. Just not on Y's 1&2. Did play Y's 3 on the SNES years ago and liked it much better. Want the TG16 version now though.
