The defence of Jutland reminded me a lot of my very first game of EU4 many years ago. I played Denmark and was attacked by the HRE. We held the narrow gap for as long as we could, despite them sending wave after wave of Hohenzollern's extended family to their death. It was a blood bath that went on for years. Eventually it looked like my manpower/economy couldn't take any more, I sent some troops to take Paris or some other high-warscore target from behind while they were focused on the north, and that was enough to have them agree to a white peace. That was a trial-by-fire way to learn that game.

I noticed that the enemy ai now allways stacks the players front and leaves other fronts wide open. Had germany doing barbaross while i was beeing in a faction with russia as commy italy. Stacked frontline on my side, couldnt move an inch out, stalin was in berlin in 8 month. 😂

I'm loving the DLC, but ngl as a newer player, those huge focus trees are kinda scary to get into. Kinda hard knowing what paths work for what without watching (excellent) vids like yours when that's the case. I actually enjoy the default trees better sometimes, like for Spain and Turkey.

iirc it depends on the AI. I've had the same issue myself with other instances, like invading UK as Germany right after declaring war.

Just to let people know why Denmark surendered so quickly. It wasn't due to the military giving up, even though they were severely outnumbered and out gunned. No, the reason is that only moments after the invasion started, the German ambassador Cecil von Renthe-Fink, met with the Danish government, and told them that if they didn't surrender immediately, then Germany would unleash it's bombers on Copenhagen. When they not long after heard the roar of the Luftwaffe planes over the city they knew the threat was real, and remembered what had happened to Warsaw, Poland not long ago.The invasion started at 3:55 in the morning april 9th 1940, the government called for ceasefire at 6:00, the last military action took place at 8:15, and the government officially capitulated at 8:34.

Did a run on Denmark last night. I did the fort side of the branch and it does fix the economy crisis. Was able to build forts on the German border to 7 and used the focus and decisions to bring it to 10. Germany didn't declare war on me right away, and won the war with a couple land gain with it.

A better way to do the navy cheese is to put the finished below the new one and assign all the docks to the new one and while your navy is training they will get damaged and repair it will take it feom the old production line and add it to the new production line

As México it's really easy to get good marines, I recently did a run as a Special Forces México, pretty good i'd say marine and Paratropper are the easiest to come by and Mountaineers the hardest but the improved recon on Mountaineers is pretty worth it

you can just get free puppets if finland and the baltics with the focus "offer protection". With their armies you can just beat norway and sweden normally and easier. And the whole spike in world tensions with finland and the hope they dont get guaranteed is not needed. You can also integrate finland via decision for nordic formable, they thought of everything.

Denmark did have a weapons industry, Dansk Rekyl Riffel Syndikat A/S made the madsen light machine gun. We also made 20 MM aa guns other small arms.

I've only had the game a few days but Denmark has been my first real play through. I don't remember the focus tree being that large though. Is there a DLC that is adding a lot more options to it?

Arms against tyranny is the newest Hoi4 expansion, adding non-generic focus trees to Sweden, Finland, Denmark, and Norway. If you're on base game still, I recommend either buying the DLCs on sale, or getting the Paradox Subscription. Also, I believe Finland's historical focus tree from AAT was added to the base game.

Just loosely followed this strategy in my first Denmark game. I didn't rush building ships, but I declared on Norway as soon as focus finished and only had about 35%, maybe the ai logic changed slightly, not sure how I can pull this off now.

With Finland, you can just offer them protection via the decision that you get from doing the focus. Instead of invading them, it changes Secure our Eastern front from a war goal into a decision to annex Finland outright gaining all of their units. From experience Finland usually accepts Danish protection.

Have been wondering do space marines still work in HOI? And would 6 infantry, 1 tank (ideally heavy), 2 artillery also work as a template? Or would it be too expensive for most countries?

7-2s haven't really worked since No Step Back changed combat width. Also, they to work, but you use the light tank engineers division and then turn your light tank into a brick with no speed using the tank designer (you don't need the speed given you're using space marines). Edit: To clarify what I mean by brick is that I mean you just fill it with armor. Firepower is unnecessary.

Also just saw his Belgium video where he used something similar only with heavy tank destroyers and it worked really well lol. And thanks for answering and clarifying and yeah got what you meant by brick. As long as have armor and can pen enemy armor don't need speed as they just need the same as infantry.

@Hyde_Hill They don't need to penetrate enemy armor. They just need to not be pemetrated by AI. Also, no, you're not seeing 20 widths. You're seeing 18 or 21 widths. I know you like round numbers, but unfortunately, this matters a lot. For pushing it was 41 to 44 widths that would work. There was a whole graph. Though with some new changes I saw bitt3rsteel in another comment mention 15, 21, and 30.

@@buddermonger2000 Okay thanks so you could go 8 - 1 - 1 and then max armor and maybe let anti air take care of the penetration? Or would you still recommend a more penetration gun? Because then you could conceivable go for a more soft attack gun on the tank right? Even maybe so far as going armored artillery instead if that has enough hardness to bot be penetrated. Haven't played in a long while so my knowledge mainly coming from video's so sorry if some of my questions are basic. Thinking of playing again.

@Hyde_Hill So, what you actually want to do is use the light tanks in a support company slot. There are the flame tank engineers as well as the light tank recon, though the flame tanks are generally seen as more optimal. Honestly, normal artillery should get you enough piercing. If not, just use AA. The gun really is unimportant, and you'd probably be better served lowering the production cost of the tank instead of focusing on the turret.
