This pandemic scared me into going cold turkey with my nail biting. Now my anxious habit is taking extreme care of my nails. I am now so emotionally attached to them and spend 1-2, even up to 4 hours sometimes, every day keeping them nice, filed, and just looking nice and healthy. It’s not great though. I get very very stressed and upset if I get a single bubble or chip in my nail polish, or if they’re not all even and uniform, or even if they’re too long or too short. It’s not fun, but sometimes they’ll give me a boost of confidence and I think that’s worth it, at least a little.

Same here... I couldn’t have nails longer than 5 days on... for two years! But atm I have them on for 11 days for the first time and I am getting sweaty cos I have a little lifting

Hey love sorry to barge in to your comments! I bit my nails for yeaaars and I can garantee you that the extreme caring is absolutely normal when yoi first stop and it is ok!!! It will with time pass, and I even took a beautiful picture and put it as a homescreen on my phone so I would see it every time I did something on my phone to remind me to take care of them. One habit I can suggest is also to moisturize your hands all the time, instead of picking on your nails. It helps a lot! Anxiety sucks and I feel you, this quarantine has not helped at all and I had a breakdown and reuined months of caring for my nails, so now I am back on caring for them 24/7 like a maniac 😂 don't give up, it will get better

I am not a therapist/doctor, but I think that if you are spending 1-4 hours daily on nail care, you should consider discussing whether this is healthy with a therapist. OCD and anxiety disorders can manifest in a number of ways-and spending this much time, with anxiety of something isn’t perfect could be OCD. Again, I am not a therapist, but just a concerned fellow human.

I used my gel-x kit for most of 2019 and absolutely loved it, but I had to have them off for a bit and then covid hit us. I started biting them before I got the chance to do a whole new set again :( and now I have a party coming up for my grandma’s 80th birthday, and I’d love to have my nails done up! The e-file is the most important thing in my opinion bc when I didn’t have one the nails would pop off within a week and I’d waste so much product on my nails. But even gel will stay on for so long and will not peel off like it used to for me

Mine this the brush! If you don’t have a high quality brush, your application won’t be as good, therefore you’ll need more filing. Which I absolutely hate. Lol

It’s just a blooming gel so it helps spread the colored gel I used ugly duckling brand but you can also use clear base gels

Hi! I have to say you are gorgeous I love your style and I love your videos! I used to bite my nails luckily I quit a long time ago now I do my own manicures with gel and stamping and everything ... I definitely relate about having stuff on them. I hate having bare nails! The only way I was able to quit was putting glue on ones constantly, letting them grow out underneath and then keeping them painted.

Hi Sarah, i wear these press on nails months now and before i used my efile on the insides of the tips but then i saw that you can only use one coat of primer on the inside and i wear them for almost 3weeks now. They stay on very very good that way and it ssfes a little time. With love from Anita

For anyone watching now, 3 years on, know the little flash cure lamps make life 100% easier( the one where your nail passes under the light, no need to flash cure in the big lamp) Beetles make a good one for example. You still need a big lamp, or a 60 second cure after the flash part tho. Thanks again,great video.😊

Hi 💖 my nails are super damaged from filing too much and soaking my apres gel extensions off with acetone. My nail beds softened severely and broke down like crazy :( i haven’t had nails on for a month now and it still looks hideous but I feel like it was best to let them breathe. They got like holes and deep carved lines and everything 🥺 Im going to reapply soon - so I wanted to ask if you have any idea why the acetone technique was so harmful to my natural nails and if I could use a protective, hardening nail polish underneath of nail extensions to kinda protect the natural nails from gel as well?

Kiara Sky and Enailcouture both make a flash cure light!! You need one! Enailcouture also has a little flash cute flashlight. They are made for you to get your nail under when doing your own...I used to prop my light up on 2 packs of toiletpaper! Love my small flash cure lights!!

I have those dreams too 😂 really beautiful nails, looks like the inside of a shell. Also a nail biter, I found doing just a pink acrylic with gel Polish designs on top made my nails easier to maintain and didn’t leave my nails bare for biting, especially when I’m busy.

What happens to the glue under the plastic nail? Does it adhere to your skin? Like, normally the nail would be there, but since your nails are so short, does the glue cure to the sensitive part where you’ve bitten the nail down?

I have learned after watching your videos that I am a Biter & Picker. A problem I have while using my cuticle nipper I clipped into my nail bed on my thumb. I have a good almost 1/4” growth from the cuticle area now, but the rest of my thumb nail looks almost like your middle finger or your right hand (maybe a bit worse). Can I put nails on or should I let it all grow out there is no open area on the rest of the nail bed? Thanks in advance.

I found when l changed from a normal primer to an acid one that helped, acid primer puts little pits in the nail instead of the normal one just acting like double sided sticky tape. I bought mine from amazon for under 5 £ it's the silcare one if your interested. Hope you find out what helps and what doesn't.

Love them I love that matte top coat! It’s the only one I’ll use! I prefer using xl forms for sculpting but you may have sold me on these full length extensions. It takes me about 5 solid hours to sculpt a new set on myself, but I work in healthcare and my company has me working about 65 hours a week (sometimes 7 days a week) so I really don’t have the time. I think I may have to just suck it up and buy those. ❤️

Hey! I have a client with severely bitten nails, the hardest cuticles I've ever seen and really short nail plates, so short that the skin at the free edge of the nail is bigger and higher than the nail plate (if that makes sense). To your opinion, should I try this system? Will it burn her if the gel possibly touches the skin? Or better stay on applying acrylic? 🤔

You should! being shy and cringing at yourself is very normal when starting youtube. I’m helping my husband with a channel and I just said while filing him “don’t think that this is for anyone just talk to me like you would normally talk to me” and he did and it was so much better. The pressure of thinking someone is going to see your video as if it’s live is what people seem to be scared of. Try and film as if your just chatting to a friend no one has to see your video unless you choose to upload! Hope that helps a bit- I know it’s super hard to film yourself just go watch my older videos and see how awkward I was 🤣
