I was guilty of bullying when I played football in high school, but I'm a changed man now and I don't pick on the nerds or the weak because that will only lead to Columbine and Virginia Tech type incidents. We alpha males need to protect the weak. It's not good enough just to be narcissistic and focus on getting money and girls, we need to look out for these guys and not drive them over the edge.

If I was one of Rebecca's parents, I'd have escalated things until that principal was fired. If Becca hadn't done what she did, Greg might not be with us today, and the school could have faced a massive lawsuit, and possibly even been closed down in the worst case. By standing up to Millie, Becca may very well have saved the jobs of everyone who worked at the school.

I had a reputation at my school as the kid who got in a lot of fights. What that reputation didn't explain was that I ended a lot of fights, I did not pick them. Whenever someone picked on me or bullied me, I fought back. It got me in a lot of trouble, but you know what? After I got that reputation people would rarely pick on me. And those who did would quickly learn why that wasn't a smart Idea. It also helped that my Dad was a lot like your Mom, and had stood with me thick and thin whenever I was involved in a fight. Really goes to show how bogus school punishments are that the victim of a bully needs to defend themselves from the school as well.

Reminds me of the fourth grade. A frequent bully of mine shoved me in the hall while I was holding a school laptop, almost making me drop it. So when I passed him going into class, I blew a raspberry at him. Yaknow, like a child. I then got called down to the principal office where I got marked for a SUSPENSION because I “almost gave him pink eye”. I was a foot away from this kid, in motion, walking past him when I stuck my tongue out and blew a raspberry at him. That remains to be the only mark on my record to this day and I will NEVER live it down

It's always nice when parents have your back. My parents always told me that if I needed to defend myself or my sister to do so without fear of punishment on their end. "Don't start fights but if you get dragged into one then you gotta learn how to finish them". My mom even encouraged my oldest brother to kick another boy's ass that had started a fight outside our house, this boy that had been picking on my brother for months mind you. My parents don't mess around they trust us enough to know we aren't gonna throw a punch unless someone deserves it.

I was harshly bullied in around the ninth grade in English class by someone who just loved to torment me about how much I sucked for liking dinosaurs a lot. Essentially, being a nerd. And this went from constantly grabbing my attention to humiliate me in front of the entire class just so I can scream in front of everyone to bugging me with questions that halted any and all class activity because it was bugging me so much. Which even bugged the teacher! And she was so sweet and stood up for me. And yet he STILL bullied me! It got so bad to points where I would cry in front of everyone and, again, was humiliated! And this happened across classes too. Not with the same person, mind you, but with a lot of the people in my classes. I’d be made fun of, humiliated, pushed around, made fun of, be the absolute floor mat and punching bag of the school. And the final straw with this bully was when we were watching a movie that had an assignment with it and he would CONSTANTLY interrupt the movie by asking me questions just to annoy me and the worst was when he started pushing the desk behind me so it could hit me behind the head. And that was the final straw! And everything stopped from there! I blew up in front of him and stormed out to the principal’s office to talk about him and his… pardon me, shitty behaviour. And after that… I don’t think I ever saw him again. I’m pretty sure I got him expelled. Which… I don’t feel too good for myself for doing, but it’s what happened. He ruined my life and was harassing and belittling me and making me look like a moron, and I made sure he had an ounce of respect in his body.

The amount of times I got in trouble for defending myself and the teachers said they'd call my parents, only for me to find out years later that my parents had no idea most of these had happened. My main theory is that the teachers knew punishing me was bs and that my parents would know it too, and so they just told me they were telling my parents to scare me into behaving -_-

So recently I went to my local school board and gave a speech about how badly I was bullied in my junior year and how my teacher did LITERALLY NOTHING. I had water poured on me, things thrown at me and my identity was made fun of. The teacher saw these things happen. When a kid poured water onto my back, I stood up in class and called him out. I made sure to tell him that what he was doing was wrong and the teacher was like "yeah that's wrong. now back to class" not even writing this kid up! It took more than two incidents before the vice principle called my mom and I on a Saturday. But she said "these bullies will either get a Saturday school workshop, or a suspension. But we can't disclose what since that's confidential." Now I'm a senior and thankfully, I don't have any classes with these kids. But the lack of care I got from the school has made me not trust the admin. But get this, when I went to the board meeting and gave my speech, the Superintendent of secondary education told me that she had no idea that this was even going on and said that she would talk to the admin and to email her if anything else happened.

I love Becca's mum. I was being thoroughly bullied at primary school (grades 4-6) and my mum kept telling the head teacher to do something about it. His attitude was "Kids will be kids", essentially. It got to the point where I started weighing up which would be worse. Going to school...or bunking off school. You know what finally changed things? My dad speaking to the head master. Not because dad was more forceful. Not because of his job. Simply because he wasn't some "overbearing mother who wants everything to be perfect for her little darling". I found out about all this waaaay after I'd left the school, but it made a lot of sense in hindsight. Never did like that headmaster. Dolt of a man with stupid ideas. I remember him once saying "How much water would you see outside if the temp is 0C?" and the answer was "None. It would be ice". Which I disagreed with. And he said I was wrong. Despite the fact I have 100% seen it rain in 0C and below before. It was years later that I learned 0C isn't the point at which water freezes (and certainly not as he seemed to think *instantly*), it's the point at which ice melts. But I got off topic. I love to hear of parents fully supporting their kids when they've done the right thing. I will never understand schools punishing the kids who fight back against the bully just once after ignoring the bully's many, many infractions over the years.

I go to a pretty twisted at school too. I like to read a lot and I get in trouble a lot for it the app I used to read most of my books since you can’t really get paper back unless you want to miss out on half your classes requires me to be at school during school hours or pay a monthly fee so of course I read during school hours when I’m done with my work and my leader ship teacher of all people doesn’t really like that, despite the fact that there’s many many people who commonly do things far worse than reading when they’re done I have so many minor, behavioral in fractions from that teacher for reading.

Something very similar happened to me. I was getting bullied for about a month when one day the girl shoulder checked me in the hallway, I stumbled and started walking faster to get away from her, next thing I know I’m waking up on the ground covered in blood and not able to remember what happened. Turns out when I didn’t react the first time she body slammed me into the stucco wall which sliced up the left half of my body and banged my head. I staggered to the office (security guard was a jerk and yelled at me to go to class even though, ya know, blood) and the nurse took pictures and cleaned me up. They called girl to the office, she tried telling them I tripped her first and she only reacted. Despite all the witnesses no one came forward and desire my injuries they decided we both needed to be punished. I was suspended for 2 days and she got 5. When my mom showed up and argued with the vice principal he was like “we have no tolerance for fighting.” So my mom turned to me and in front of him said “If that’s the case then next time she starts something, make sure it’s her who ends up in the nurse’s office.” The school suddenly took the bullying I’d been reporting a lot more seriously after that.

When I was in 2nd grade, a kid bit me as well. It wasn't that bad of a situation compared to yours but it was still gross. In 2nd grade, we did this little learning app. However, with this learning app, you could access other peoples' accounts without a password. You just had to click on their profile. The kid who sat behind me logged onto my profile and tried to change my profile picture. To 2nd grade me, I thought this was the worst thing in the world. I saw him trying to change it and I repeatedly told him not to mess with my account. After I told him (not asked) not to mess with my profile picture like 5 times, I eventually reached over and closed out of my account on his computer. I had already told him to stop and he didn't so I didn't know what else to do. As I was reaching over, he grabbed my arm and bit down HARD. I started crying but as the good student that I was, I didn't make a big thing about it. Thankfully, I was in the front row and my teacher saw me crying. The girl behind the person who bit me told the teacher what happened and I went to the nurses office. Of course all the nurse did was give me an ice pack and not disinfect the bite at all.

I moved to a new school to escape a certain bully that did his "job" of bullying so well that it was literally messing with my mental state. But, this year he joined my school just because his dad started teaching there. (Better pay I guess.) The first week went fine, nothing strange or bad. But, that first week was his "planning week" to try and ruin my life again. He started to bully me AGAIN, but the moment I was done at my locker at the end of the day, I went straight to my guidance councilor and told her about his bullying, the reason why we came to the school, and about some brief past event stuff. Not even a day after I told her, I was called into her office for a one - on - one talk with her that lasted almost an entire class period (45-50 minutes). A day after that, he was called into her office. And he never decided to bully me again. A main reason from him bullying me at my old school was because of me not communicating it to anyone, also if I did tell someone about it nothing would be done.
