I'm curious to know why the recipe has so many cow parts? Foot, skin, intestine? Would the flavor be significantly different without all the cow parts? Thanks for posting!!!
@ladyd3217
@ladyd3217 7 жыл бұрын
MremboOne No it wouldn't change the flavour its just his preference to use all of those. u can still cook this with just 1 type of any form of meat/fish u prefer.

Oga can you please tell me the purpose of the cocoyam in the soup? Is it to thicken it? Does it have to be cocoyam? Or can I use another type of yam?
@brineted1010
@brineted1010 7 жыл бұрын
well i speak as the right owners of the soup igbo person. you can use ede{cocoyam} or ji{ yam} and the purpose is to thicken the soup.

Hi,im a yoruba man .i made some bitterleaf soup today and it tasted really bitter , i bought the bitter leaf frozen from and defrosted for 6 hours then washed twice in cold water.i also used onion ,catfish smoked mackerel,blackbean, and knorr ,with egusi and mixed with tete leafs.why is it so bitter? And how can i remedy this.

Nice concept lots of meat though.. next time allow the coco yam to cook until the water dries a little bit to bring out the thickness.. or better still use archi.. foreign cocoyam doesn't thicken soup like real Naija one.. thanks anyway

too watery. too much meat. no need for the turkey neck or gizzard. The dry fish must be enough to taste in the soup. With Ofe Onugbu, the best way is to keep it simple. and Ogir and iru are not entirely the same thing. You must use ogiri for the soup to be authentic.
@brineted1010
@brineted1010 7 жыл бұрын
well done but as an Igbo person , we have different meat and fish for differnt soups, so try to learn that becuase you have the right fish: stockfish, catfish, then just use more preferably goat meat, or beef or both., and the kanda{pomo as you yoruba call it} the rest are not for onugbu soup. well as i said well done for trying,. again we do not cook with iru, rather we have ogiri igbo or ogiri okpi. again it is too watery

Brian Ted Mumu...shut your trap and break your fingers to keep from making your comments. I've seen you trolling on multiple cooking channels critiquing good chop, never saying anything positive. If you don't like it, make your own channel and do better.

Brian Ted wow, shameless food critic. You’re obviously an Imo/Abia man aren’t you. We use kpomo in Anambra/Enugu for cow skin just like we use oyibo for white man, it’s you irrelevant imolites who insist on using kanda and bekee. Iru is just the Yoruba name for okpei, same thing. The guy did well and really tried, I will like to see you cook a better one than him instead of criticising people’s food. Shameless imolite
@anoncollins8226
@anoncollins8226 7 жыл бұрын
Brian Ted and if you knew your onions about nni Igbo you’d know that we never use okpei for onugbu but ogiri IGBO, imagine criticising someone else when you don’t know anything about cooking yourself, shameless ewu

@@prettycaramel9237 no you should shut up. He is actually right. That is my Native soup he just bastardized. You have to research well on food not native to you before going public. Because you will be misleading the public. Ogiri and iru are the similar but different seasonings. They do not taste same and their flavours are quite different. We use ogiri in our soups. The different meat he put there were too much and unnecessary. Furthermore, we don't put too much oil in our soups... Alot is not cool with the soup

Too much obstacles (meat). Can't stand the meat content but soup looks nice though.I would shift all the meat aside n maybe try the soup with at most a slice of cow skin or nothing at all.Good job
