If this really is your childhood home and you're really saying goodbye to it, I feel for you. Every home that you grow up in that you have to leave as an adult just kind of makes you feel so sad to leave it, but also remember that a new family gets to make those same kind of memories within the home. So don't be too sad, just rejoice with the fact that a new family will move in and experience the same happiness that you did.

My brother, sister, dad and i went to visit our old house when there was an auction there. They let us go inside the house since my dad built it. My sister and i both cried- so many good memories there. When we moved out ( 30 yrs ago) i scribbled on the inside wall of the closet where i thought no one would see it, believing some day I would come back there. And it was still there ❤

That line always stuck with me as a girl, and I caught myself doing the same thing when walking out of my childhood home for the last time. You have referenced L.M. The circle!!!! Yes!!! My ten children all had an indoor circle to run around and now my 5+ grandkids enjoy one, too, when they come visit. Funny how useful it is in their play.❤

Can confirm, the moment you get good enough to drop spin on rifle and/or sabre it becomes such a mindless comfort. I remember me and the rest of my rifle line would hang out in the band room before games having entire conversations with people while also casually spinning the entire time. It always freaked the rookies out who werent used to it and expected us to lose focus or get tired and drop it. It always seemed to amuse the heck out of the upperclassmen though.

This was sweet. I was an Air Force brat and an Army wife, married to an Army brat. Neither of us knew a childhood home, and didn't even buy a house until we were in our fifties. Sometimes I wish I'd had a settled life, because you can have such lovely memories of home and friends, but it is good to have our kind of varied memories too.

I love this!! I squealed in my heart when you pulled out your colorguard rifle!!! I loved colorguard, too!!!! I can tell you actually were in it. The body remembers. I’s hard leaving a place that has good memories, but it’s just a place. You carry the memories with you. Keep the memories of your childhood home. And don’t necessarily go looking years later for your old house…..I did, and the changes they made to it were….extreme. It doesn’t look the same at all. I miss our big old peach tree, and pomegranate bushes….But I still have the memories, and I hope my kids have good nostalgic memories of their childhood home.

Aww! I agree! It does seem like a place is just a place, but it can be much more! I did something similar when I was about 16yo. I went back to our old house, that we moved away from when I was about 10 years old. I pulled out all kinds of hidden stuff to show the future father of my firstborn son. I loved that home so much!

This is so precious. I love creating little nooks and hiding places too. We used to have an evergreen tree in our backyard with big branches that hung down to make a “cave” and my sisters and I spent hours creating and playing under that tree. Eventually it got struck by lightning and it had to be taken down, but we kept the memories. 😊 love the color guard skills!!

As a teenager, I would hide junk food in my dresser drawers. Fritos, a box of Lucky Charms, skittles, etc. Of course I don’t let my kids eat Lucky Charms or skittles. Fritos are harder to let go of 😂 What you said at the end resonated with me, it was poignant. Also, you have crazy good rifle spinning skills! 💯

I 100% agree that a place is more than just a place. I used to live in a house up until I was about 6 or 7 years old. Unlike her story the house(s) I moved into afterwards I never have had that kind of connection with if that makes sense. The first house I lived in was the only house I have lived in where both of my parents lived in it together with me. (The reason we moved in the first place is because they were getting a divorce). This move was very troubling for me (and yes I am aware I was very young but still) and for the most part still is years later. My family considers me a hoarder, but what they don’t know is the only things I actually keep are things that have been in and I have memories with at that house. I will always have an attachment to that house even though as many people tell me, “its just a material thing.” I would do anything to be able to live there again (btw im not an adult so I don’t really have any control at the moment XD) but if I could ever afford it as an adult I would definitely considered buying it back, or if it never goes up for sale we have the blueprints somewhere lol. Anyways yeah saying goodbye and looking back on places you’ve once lived can be both nostalgic and sad, but I defiantly agree with her on the connection thing. Also I apologize if you took the time to read this I was kinda ranting a bit XD

Loved this video! My mom moved about a year ago after the passing of my father, so I just went through this. Such a surreal and bittersweet experience! And I am in total agreement on the circle and the closet! I loved running circles in my home growing up. Even as an adult I would walk circles when I lived at home/came to visit! Neither my home nor my mom's new home has a circle. I miss it! In my bedroom, there were two closets, so one was turned into a desk by the previous owner. It was so good for space, and I spent a lot of time sitting at it. When we moved, my uncle wanted to take out the desk for more closet space, and my mom and I put our foot down. Instead, it was renovated to make a better desk. 😂

You're fortunate to have had a childhood home. My sister & I grew up as military brats & moved many times, approx every 2-3 years. I attended 5 different grade schools, 2 different middle schools & because my dad retired when i was in high school, only one high school. Don't get me wrong, it's the only life i knew & tho i missed out on longterm friendships & still to this day have a hard time forming them, we were given a wonderful opportunity of living in other countries & experiencing other cultures, which i wouldn't trade for the world!

I still miss the HUGE, four trunk mimosa tree that was in our front yard. To this day, I can tell if there are mimosas in bloom just by the smell in the air. It was beautiful and was the best shade, reading spot, jungle gym, play house, spot for the kiddie pool, etc. My parents even put our metal swing set and fisher price slides under its shade so we could play on them even on the hottest days without burning our butts. 😂

I 100% agree in the "homes needs to have circles"! My husband wants to convert our home into an "open solution", and I absolutely HATE the idea! We have a toddler, and plan in getting another kid soon. Toddlers love to run laps around the house - I too did when I was little, and I had a good circle: going through the kitchen, dining area, living room, a guest room, and then back into the kitchen again. I ran laps with our dogs through the house, and they loved it too! I too had a similar closet space, which I loved, and I KNOW my toddler would love! She already tries to find hiding spots, and I really wish she had some. Modern homes tend to be so damn boring and less practical than these homes, where the building solutions were much better thought through ❤ I totally get why you loved this home ❤

In one house we lived in while I was growing up, in my room was the door to the attic. It had a “Harry Potter” cubby, that became my “den”, and I remodeled the attic as my “life sized doll house”. I loved that house!
