EDIT: part 2 out now kzbin.info/www/bejne/fnuok5uObNp-i9k Hi. It's been a minute. Sorry for the lack of uploads recently and sorry if this video is a little less polished than normal (albeit mostly on purpose). A lot has happened in the last few months of my life, but I'm finally back and ready to pour blood, sweat, and (mostly) tears into more content. Hopefully (no promises), I'll be back to a slightly more frequent upload schedule, along with occassional streams and channel member content. While waiting for the next Garfilled upload, please check out some of the more recent content from the Minecraft SMP I created, [REDACTED] SMP. If you're looking for extremely high quality horror or cinematic Minecraft content, the recent content on there have been masterpieces. I highly encourage you to check it out (plus, I cameo in a number of the recent videos). kzbin.info/aero/PLa-0Lg8oeokOyA3Eo0nTesLnvkTv3YNUQ Also, I've been doing a podcast with some of my friends on my group channel Take Five. Check that out if you like hearing people talk about nothing. www.youtube.com/@TakeFiveGroup Finally, thank you to everyone who has stuck by the channel, especially through all the long breaks between uploads. Stay tuned, Garfilled

What I think this video explains, after seeing it, is the feeling of memories rotting away. With this being made so long ago, it eventually started to fade from garfilled's mind, and upon revisiting it, it was much, much different than what he had once thought it was going to be like. It felt ever-expanding, and always like something was wrong. The fire burning away at the house symbolizes the fading of his memories and thoughts on the world, as it crumbled underneath him into a hellish nightmare, with a shadow figure of someone, perhaps a past tense him, stalking him. Something is not right to him now, but yet a long time ago, to a younger garfilled, everything was right in the world. This is his home, but at the same time... it's not.

also more evidence to that the shadow figure is younger garfilled is that it's just standing within and ignoring the fire, it's younger and is only seeing whats right with world not whats wrong (the fire)
@imperialdan6844 Жыл бұрын
Some other things is that when he read the books, it told the story of him, revisiting the house. A man answered the door and asked what his name was. Garfilled said a name he hadn't heard before but said it anyway. He asked the man for his name, and he said garfilled. He explored the house and went downstairs, and saw a mirror. He didn't see himself in it. He left the house. He woke up in his bed and heard a fire. He didn't move. As him and his house started melting, he looked up and saw himself. It then constantly repeated: "My house is my hell." This is a story about losing yourself. The more you believe things, such as: "focus on the good things." You'll let those things control you and what you do. They'll become your whole life. The fire represents bad things constantly happening. Him taking it represents him thinking, "Everything will be fine," and it slowly kills him on the inside, represented by his skin slowly melting off. He changed his name because he's acting like a different person because of those thoughts. Him saying, "I looked in a window, and didn't see me," is him realizing he's changing as a person. The "house" represents his mental state. Him revisiting it is him checking on himself mentally. The dead him is his old self, the person he was. This is a story about a man who has lost himself because of society filling his head with lies. Telling him: "it'll all be fine." You need to focus on bad things so you can save your mental state. Believing that it'll be fine will make you forget your mortality.

This feels strangely familiar. My first minecraft house was also a strange shape made of boxes, with a low roof, a second floor, windows everywhere and it was all made out of oak planks. I remember the first time i got the "you may not sleep now, there are monsters nearby" I immediately left. I also tried making a garden, wich was blown up by a creeper. This might be related to some kind of traumatic event that happened in the protagonists lifespan - the memories were suppressed and buried away until he entered the world, where they returned. The house being confusing and difficult to navigate with it's unbearably large rooms could be a sign that the memories had been distorted, with the mind trying to make sense of what is going on. The fire on the house could signal that the long lost memory had been found, but the mind is now trying to violently suppress it to avoid bringing the trauma back, or it could be possible that the mind is now collapsing because of the remembrance of what caused the PTSD. This could be explained by the Omori and Petscop soundtracks throughout the video, where: - one is a psychological horror game where the protagonist ends up experiencing life trauma and tries to hide it, before getting the truth revealed and having to be forced to accept it. - the other is about somebody discovering a long lost game they had not played in years, only to discover that it is completely different from what they remember, hiding a dark secret beneath its fabric.

For y'all who wanna know what the book says, "As I turned the corner, the familiar sight of my childhood home greeted me. It appeared just as I remembered it. Except brighter and darker, I parked my car in the empty driveway and stepped out. Slowly, I made my way to the porch. Each step with a reminder of my past. With a sense of nostalgia. I raised my hand and knocked on the door. Several minutes passed in pure still silence as I stood on that porch. Finally the door creaked open, revealing a man. He was tall and pale and dark and cold. I had never seen this man in my life, yet as the door opened, his eyes burned into mine, revealing a spark of recognition in his cold eyes. He asked what my name was And I responded with a name I had never heard. I asked him what his name was.. And he responded with mine. This man welcomed me into my house. His house was exactly how I remembered, I wandered through the barren hallways, embracing the waves of nostalgia that being in the house evoked. Reaching the end of the hallways I was met with the familiar door that led to the basement of the house, descending the staircase I reached the bottom where I faced the large old mirror that had always resided here. I peered through the dust of the mirror and saw the reflection of myself gazing back at me. But it wasn't myself. It wasn't my house behind the mirrored version of me either. It was nothing.. I left the house shortly after. I was laying in my bed when it began, it was the middle of the night and I awoke with a start, I felt that something was wrong, I didn't realize it was fire until I began to smell the smoke coming from the vent. But I continued to lay in my bed, in the sheets unbothered by the inferno. The smoke began seeping under the door like a deadly fog. The room became a boiling pot, the temperature rising higher and higher and higher, I felt my eyebrows singe off as it got hotter and hotter. Flames began to invade my room so tall that they licked the ceiling. The walls began melting, the wallpaper darkening and peeling, I began to feel my skin melt like the walls slowly sliding off, revealing another layer Beneath, and soon that layer was gone and all I could feel was the flames. My home was now my hell my home was now my hell my home was now my hell. I couldn't move anymore, I just continued to melt and melt and melt and melt and melt and all I could see was myself looking back down upon me, laughing at how I was helpless in the flames. My home was now my hell and I couldn't do anything but melt and melt and-"

I don't know why, but when I saw this building I felt my heart drop. This looked just like a base I had built almost 10 years ago. It wasn't exactly like this- it looked different. But for just a moment I thought somehow something from my youth had crept back into my life. It looked new and strange. This isn't my base, it never was. It was someone else's base, but just for a moment, I thought time had brought back a relic of the past.

Everyone's talking about the story but I wanna talk about the horror, the way the tension even though it happens quick builds, from just the first glitch. You already come in knowing somethings wrong but the glitch just really confirms it. And the dread just keeps staying, I don't find there's really any end to it, like it just keeps going with every creepy moment. The only times where I feel calm is when the screen goes black, and then the dread is right back and honestly worse then before. The end really does freak me out my skin is crawling. Good job, I love your work

to me this video is about self inspection. looking inside your memories, recognizing some, forgetting others, but still seeing yourself in the mirror. or, someone like you. at the end, the corpse is himself, scarred and faded and charred with blistered memories and events. he shed that skin long ago, and he doesn’t remember it because change is gradual, and you never realize it. sometimes, change is visiting your old home and seeing your corpse in the closet, wearing clothes you don’t remember that well after all.

A testimony of how good this is: I don't play Minecraft, and I got the feelings of nostalgia and forgotten or vanishing memories. The story trascends the media it uses. Excellent job.
@Mike14264 Жыл бұрын
This reminds me of a story related to nostalgia. A boy once got lost in the woods, and by accident, found himself in a nearby convenience store, by the highway. Near it was a vending machine, and one of the drinks that caught his eye was a lemonade. He didn't know or remember the brand, but he felt thirsty, and even tho he wasn't that fond of lemon drinks, for some reason, he felt compelled to buy one and drink it. It was equal parts sweet, sour and bitter. It was a smooth, perfect combination that went down his throat. It was the best damn drink he ever had, and it quenched his thirst like nothing else had or would. He savored it till the last drop. As he returned home and time went by, he kept the bottle in his room, and the taste in his memory. The nostalgia for that taste was almost unbearable, he needed to try that drink again... but no matter how many times he tried to get lost in the woods, he would never find the store. Until one day, he got lost without it being on purpose... and there it was. The same store, the same highway, the same vending machine. The same lemonade brand. He bought the drink, and drank it. It was equal parts sweet, sour and bitter. He couldn't even describe how awful it tasted. Nothing felt right, none of the flavors meshed. He couldn't even finish the drink. What went wrong? Did the producers change the recipe? Did his tastes change that much? Or was he just so thirsty back then that any drink, even something so hard to even keep in his mouth, let alone swallow... would've been bliss anyways? But there's a vastly more important question... would it have been better if he had never tried to look for the drink again, and preserved the pure blissful memory, rather than try to revisit it and tarnish it, corrupt it with the nature of reality?

This is one of the most accurate depictions I’ve ever seen of how my dreams are in real life. Starting calm and nostalgic in a way, seeing things I recognize, understanding where they’re coming from and more. But as the dream continues, the familiar things become less familiar. They grey areas of the things I don’t fully understand become filled with chaos, trying to grasp a hold of the new “reality” we or I, am experiencing. I’ve never really been able to analyze thing until seeing it like this, almost a 3rd person pov. It was uncomfortable and disturbing, but I think it was because of how much my inner mind could relate to the things that were happening.

I wasn’t expecting a psychological horror film from this… I sort of get it though, it’s the memories being so specific in your head, but at the same time they were so different, and you’ll never remember it fully or experience it the same way again (?) idk, maybe I’m overthinking this…

While I didn't find this scary at all, I was still enthralled. You are a terrific storyteller, and it was really cool to see your creativity on display. I also like how the book you zoomed through (I paused to read it) foretold everything that was going to happen.

My personal take on this video is that garlfilled is seeing a past version of himself and that there is a time loop happening. The mirror is a gateway to his past self. His house burnt down in the world and he was in hardcore meaning he died. But when he got the world file into a modern version it got corrupted and he was seeing his past in that world. His past self wanting to be whole and alive again/ or his past self wanted to be left in peace and stay dead as he was supposed to be in that fire.

This is a very well made piece of horror fiction. Love the use of Immersive portals to create some of the not quite right scenes and the camera work was pretty well thought out which is rare given how much of minecraft creepypasta sticks to the first person perspective. Also love the use of the youtube ui itself in the horror. Great piece over all.

So, what I gathered (mostly from the books and hidden images/text) is that Garfilled at one point lived in this house, and this house burned to the ground. It's unclear Garfilled's relation at either the owner of the house, the visitor of the house, or BOTH (somehow), but the owner of the house died in the fire, burning to death. The visitor escaped, and left the house and the body within. As shown in the events of this video and the book in the secret video, the visitor returned to the remains of the house. The suppressed memory of the tragic event resurfaced slowly, and he eventually made his way to the basement, where the body of the owner was. The owner had a note next to him that I don't quite understand, but the visitor left the body and the house once again, and never returned. I agree that the house warping was his memory being warped by the struggle between remembrance and mental suppression, though I still am not sure who Garfilled was. He seems to be the visitor, but there are multiple references to him being also the owner of the house. Even he doesn't understand. He sees himself as the owner, and seems to not know who he (as the visitor) is. Maybe he's made himself believe the owner was himself, because he can't handle remembering the actual owner and who the owner actually is? I'm not sure. But I think I understand the general timeline of the tragic event that occurred. The story of the Owner and the Visitor.

The owner of the house is his former self, his childhood self. It follows a similar idea to the question: "would your childhood self recognize you today?"

Excellent storytelling and videography. The suspense had me jumping out of my skin towards the end. I'm not smart enough to entirely figure out and interpret the story being told, but I believe it could be something akin to trauma and childhood. Looking back on your younger years, would younger you recognize who you are, who you've become? Thoughts of dark basements with sinister secrets, endless spiraling stairways, and an observatory are things children imagine when it comes to their home, their "dream home." Not in the sense of it's their ideal house, but a distorted version that's been conjured up through the eyes of a developing child. Returning to a childhood home just to see everything in and around it barren and having lost it's vibrancy, that's a pain that many experience. But having absolutely no home to return to? Only seeing cindered beams and frames, dilapidated carpet and hardwood floors? That's nightmarish. I believe that this is about returning to a home from your childhood memories, but these past once-pleasant memories have been eroded by what current-you knows. You know the house burnt down, you know there was never an observatory or endless staircases to explore. You know there was never a monster in the basement. That is, you thought you knew. Tomorrow will be a good day. But yesterday will always seem just as good. In a tomorrow that doesn't exist, and a yesterday that has been burnt away, this anomalous hellscape of a dream is your today.

Also 4:35 reminded me of the phenomenon "hypnic jerk", which is that small twitch you experience when falling asleep or waking up from a dream. I thought that was a super neat detail.

It’s sort of the same feeling as digging into your old toy box and finding all your old toys, or seeing your childhood room, old things, the memories flood into you, the hardest part isn’t the fact that you moved on, it’s the fact that you have to accept change and the fact you’ve grown I’m someone that has felt this. And I always will, I’m grateful my parents spent all that money on me. To that I say, Mom, Dad I’m sorry if you’ve spent a lot of money on toys and stuff for me, and see them damaged or lost. Im sorry if I forgot expensive items Thanks for taking care of me throughout the years ❤ The nostalgia is enough to make you cry really.

…I feel like this video explores into Dementia in a sense. Here Garfilled is, exploring a house he made (probably in his childhood), quite literally a memory. As it goes on, he slowly forgets parts of the house he made. Then they start getting deteriorated, and odd in design (Probably from the memories becoming hard to remember, but still there.) As it goes on, eventually the house burns down. And this is exactly what dementia does to the mind, to destroy it in a sense (as far as I know). After that, tiny fragments from different parts of the video play, mostly from the beginning, as the small fragments of memories remain. I don’t know what the corpse could mean, but maybe that could just be the body of Garf (maybe?) after eventually dying to dementia. I’m no expert in this field by any means, I’m more of a Computer-Science guy. But I’ve seen enough dementia-videos to get that vibe from this recent upload. Still, amazing video. Would love to see how this continues!

5:08 if you read the books from the library earlier, it mentions someone going to their old childhood home, knocking on the door and being greeted by a dark man. The person goes down to their basement from all those years ago to find a mirror covered in dust, and in the reflection they don’t see their house anymore. Later the pages say that they’re lying in bed and their house starts burning but they can’t muster up anything to leave, so their skin melts off and they just die there. Sound familiar?

Ok but actually though? Absolute masterpiece. You start out like you’d expect; but with that pause at the beginning. You have the basement, which somewhat foreshadows what’s to come. You have a laugh at your bad build, only to slowly introduce more and more of the dystopian world this actually is. You switch to past tense when you enter the library, which is a small but incredible detail that changes the entire feel of the story. This is no longer a live reaction. Now you’re telling a story. The books? 10/10. And yes, I did pause to read them all. 0 clue if you wrote them but whoever did, excellent job. I think it’s really interesting how they seem to be a bit out of order, though. How you wake up from the fire (the last page), and then discover the man in the mirror afterwards. I love how the observatory also only had two block walls. Amazing, I applaud you on continuing to keep that detail. And then the repeat. The back to the beginning, the changing of the narrative, the glitching in and out. Tbh I kept waiting for the jumpscare, I was so on edge. Anyway, keep doing what you’re doing man, because you’re amazingly exceptional at it

I have a theory but it’s probably not accurate When garfilled revisited his old house he doesn’t remember what he built or what he didn’t build such as the basement and the stair way leading to the “mirror room”. When he broke the glass 2:07 the reflection was still there meaning it was not a mirror but normal glass. When “garfilled” was leaving the room we can clearly see flames and holes in the ground. When he walks into the other hallway there are lots of signs saying “tomorrow will be a good day” however when he gets to the end the signs say “yesterday will be a good”. This could be what garfilled did but the figure had no idea what this room was. When he goes into the library there are clearly books saying that his house was burning down and him melting as past him laughed at him, back in the hallway the signs said “yesterday will be a good day” which might mean the tall pale figure set the house on fire and when the real garfilled melted, the pale figure became garfilled. When he went up to the observatory he had to get the telescope and in his inventory there are 1 skull some bones and most importantly a flint and steel used halfway. When he looks at the 3rd window he sees the pale man or himself in the past. Not knowing what is going on he runs out onto the stairs but falls off after panicking. In the next scene we are clearly in the past with the real garfilled since the house is normal now, but when he goes into the basement he says “the house was been trying to remind me, it was another mirror” so the house can tell the future and what does garfilled on the other side of the “mirror” do. He melts. On the next part he revisits the house but the house had burned down and when he goes into the basement, he sees the tall pale man. But hey that’s just a theory a gam-

While everyone is talking about this being something about memories (which the comments were great at explaining) I came up with another story which is 100% not intended here but 100% something I would see being made into a short horror game The house is first normal but notice once protagonist goes up the long stairs they are in good shape, then we have the breaking the mirror segment where we can see protagonist in a burned down room, walking down the same stairs, but now they are broken, possibly burned All the fire and the body at the end can create a story about someone dying in a tragic house fire and now realising that death maybe If I knew how to make this a game I would
