Hi, guys! Hope 2017 is starting off well :>! So, I mentioned some complaints about watercolor in my voiceover during the last half, and I wanted to say that I don’t think I addressed the effect of paper and certain pigments (which are more “permanent” than others) on the staining factor. Thus, for those of y’all who were planning on mentioning that in comments or were curious about it, maybe I’ll elaborate it in a video where I work with watercolor. You’ll probably get a demonstration of what I mean too :D. Good day!

that happens to me in watercolor too but if i use watercolor tubes they are a little more easier to blend. it also helps to work wet on wet - laying down water before you apply the pigment so the pigment spreads and doesnt just stain your paper

Wow, I'm so happy that you're back to weekly posting, and have time/inspiration to draw) As for the drawing, I love the way it turned out, even though it's simple, it's still looks gorgeous ^^ And as for the watercolor problem, I think ox gall might help, it's a wetting agent and it makes the pigment more flowy.

I usually use Arches hot press paper. It's a watercolor paper so it absorbs well. I use mix of watercolor and ink/marker so it works for me. I agree though, hot press paper is really hard to find. Arches is expensive so I am often keeping an eye out for sales and buying a stack to stock up when I can. The artist struggle, so much material on hand yet never what you want to use in the moment lol

For your watercolour staining problem thing, maybe you could try out YUPO watercolour paper? I have no idea whether it will suit your needs (I don't really work with watercolours . . . ) but apparently the paper is waterproof so the pigment will just sit on surface and you can move it as much as you want! I hope this helps :D

To be honest, I have been follow you because of your "in depth shading". In term of shading, I always refer back to you. So when hearing that you will change to simplify your shading because you prefer it, I did feel a little sad I would say. But by no mean, do what you like, don't even bother my ramble, ignore meh 😂 Oh yeah, if you don't like the staining colors, why wouldn't you just use similar color that is not a staining color? Btw, I think I saw Fabriano Artistico Watercolor paper (they have hot press) on Blick on sale for SUPER AFFORDABLE, I heard that they are good paper, you should definitely try them, but they come in big amount too (*´∇｀*)
