A detailed step by step guide to build a Bixler 1.1 glider with INAV. This should make a decent long range aircraft, and also a great aircraft for carrying a Gopro.
The CLI codes:
set max_angle_inclination_rll = 600
set max_angle_inclination_pit = 600
set small_angle = 180
set nav_fw_bank_angle = 35

set failsafe_throttle_low_delay = 0
set nav_rth_allow_landing = FS_ONLY
set disarm_kill_switch=OFF
set nav_extra_arming_safety = ON

Awesome video! I'm using another version of iNav, 2.6.1 and didn't see the "don't spin motors when armed" option. Is that in another tab? Also would I use AETR in the receiver tab for a tx16s radio? And do you think the CLI codes you used would work for a hobbyzone aeroscout? I am a complete beginner at this. Thanks!
@gizfpv
@gizfpv 3 жыл бұрын
I believe the 'spin motors when armed' option is now on the output tab? As for AETR, that depends on your radio. On the TX16, I think you have to press the SYS button, and then on the first page scroll to the bottom where it should say what channel map is being used. Basically you just gotta make sure you tell INAV to use the same channel map. So if the channel map on the Tx16 is TAER, tell inav to use TAER. Or if it's AETR, tell inav it's AETR. As for cli codes, they should still work fine

Great Tutorial for a beginner, well done.....You maybe should have warned against plugging in the Camera and VTX plugs backwards at the Flight Controller.....or....boom.!!!! Im still not sure why they didnt use a simple 3 pin output with power on the centre pin, like it is on a basic F4 board, bad move by Matek IMO. I have two of the F405s and love them, but Im really careful when plugging the VTX or Camera into it for the exact same reason. An accident waiting to happen if you ain't paying attention.

I know, it nearly caught me out! Why they have the ground wire in the middle is baffling. I did try to emphasise the need to get it wired up right by pointing out the need to adjust the wires on the servo plug. Hopefully people won't make any mistakes

Love your videos bought a wing not long ago but didn't laminate it. Just covered it with proper flying tape with different colours does it matter I didn't laminate it or should I take the tape off start again with laminate it first then put tape on after.
@gizfpv
@gizfpv 5 жыл бұрын
It depends really. Does the aircraft need laminate? Does it feel strong with the tape? For optimal results you'd wanna laminate the aircraft first and then put the tape on after, but if the aircraft is already tough I wouldn't worry about it. No point carrying extra weight if you don't need to lol

@@hillbillypetej tape works great. One of my s800 was tape laminated. Its still holding strong after hundreds of crashes and hard landings. Great part about tape is if it gets to beat up you peel it off and stick a fresh piece on. Just make sure you tape it in a warm area. Trying to tape it in the cold will cause it to not stick well. If you have a laminating iron then run it over the tape to warm the adhesive and make it stick better. If you dont have a laminating iron then use a clothes iron. Works just as well. Just move it around at a brisk pace. Just want to warm the glue. Dont overheat it or the glue will transfer entirely to the foam and the tape will come off.

@@thefitchesvideo Sorry only just seen your message. Yes, what you want to do is move the aileron downwards fully and then attach the tape to the hinge. Then move the aileron up fully and attach the tape to the other side. That way the tape won't prevent the aileron from moving

@gizfpv
@gizfpv 3 жыл бұрын
Hi. No, a TBS receiver won't work with a Flysky i6x. The only receivers that will work with a Flysky i6x will be Flysky branded receivers. To use a TBS receiver you need to have a TBS transmitter/radio. Basically, as a general rule of thumb, the brand of the receiver needs to be the same as the brand of the radio. There's some exceptions to this (3rd party receivers sometimes exist). To find a receiver for the Flysky i6x just look up 'Flysky i6x compatible receivers' on Google, you'll find plenty of answers 😊

Hi giz!! i'm ready to assemble a inav plane like your bixler!!! I have 2 questions for you: 1) Positioning the gps under the wing affect its performances? i alway thought that the gps should be mounted without anything above it!!! 2) The vtx under the wing doesn't over heat? My vtx became very very hot at 600mw and i suppose that under the wing, covered with tape it won't receive enough air for cooling!!! What do you think about it? thank you for the attention and my compliments for your videos... they are always useful and the montage is awesome!!!
@gizfpv
@gizfpv 5 жыл бұрын
GPS is absolutely fine under the wing. Foam doesn't block GPS signals at all. And the vtx remains perfectly cool under the wing too. There's only half a millimeter of tape between it and the airflow, so the heat escapes no problem 😁

Man I am struggling with this brother. I bought everything you have here based on your video which is excellent by the way. I am stuck on servo madness.... I am trying to get the receiver tab set up like you show @ 12:11 in the vid, but I cannot select TAER in iNav even though that is what I have set in my radio. It will only allow me to chose AETR, Futaba, Default or JR. As it sits, when I raise the throttle control on my radio the flaps move, when I move the roll sticks the rudder moves, etc.... Where have I gone wrong.... ? New to planes, been on quads for a little bit and I cannot believe I am stranded here in no mans land like this.....

Hey Giz, Great job! In iNAV you put both NAV ALT and NAV CRUISE on Channel 6 switch position 3. Just wondering if this is correct or should one be assigned to position 2. And if using flaps where and how would you set that up with same FC and radio? Thanks,
@gizfpv
@gizfpv 5 жыл бұрын

@gizfpv

The reccomded lipo is a 2200 3s. However if you're willing to cut out some of the foam inside the nose you'd easily get a much bigger battery in. I reckon a 3s 4000 would fit well. Only downside however is bigger batteries would throw off the CG, so you'd most likely need to add a little tail weight to compensate
