Governments have no legal obligation to do what they said they would do (or not do) when lying to the electorate to secure sufficient votes to win power. 'Democratic' government is a joke and has nothing to do with political representation of the populous and yet the right to vote is the constantly-quoted symbol of this 'you are free' confidence trick. You can vote so you must be free, and you can choose the government so this must be government by the People for the People. But for this to be true there must, first of all, be choice in how a society is run and the direction that it takes. Yet all that is offered in the 'free democracies' are political party MASKS on the same Archontic face - and this is 'choice' frustrated before a single ballot is cast. Once a MASK or 'political party' is officially elected it can go its own way (as it is always planned to do) with little or often no regard for the election promises through which it attracted its electoral support. Wishes and desires of the population only have to be considered again when the next election is close and the entire farce is repeated. This has been the case throughout the history of 'democracy' and still so many people can't see how they are being systematically deceived. They continue to campaign for the MASKS and argue with other MASKS over which MASK should be pinned to the unchanging face this time around. You don't like this MASK after its years in government? No problem. You can now have another MASK and when you eventually reject that MASK, because it is doing the same as the previous MASK, you can choose to go back to the other MASK once again. Democracy is NOT freedom as anyone with even a minimum of awareness, in their program, must surely be able to see. But those who point this out are condemned as being anti-freedom because freedom is democracy.

I only pay R7k ever 4 to 5 months in summer, then about R9k for the 3 months of winter, I don't have a pool, but have 2 houses, with 3 people on property. Unless everyone is using a heater, you cooking with electric stove and oven every night, using an arcon and you do not turn your geyser/s off.. Then it pretty easy to have such a high usage..

Eskom is a fixed price for post paid power.. You also have the R10.52 "line rental" per day.. so 30 days is R 315. But 0 to 600KWh is R 2.45 600KWh up is then charged at R3.87. Your first 600KWh is R1470.0 The remaining KWh is 1700KWH X R3.87 =R6579 So you looking at R 8364.0 as an example

Let's get the Eskom story straight; it's been balled and gutted by successive ANC regimes, tenderpreneurs - and continues to do so. It has been bailed out again and again by the taxpayer, and now the threat of a 40% increase to make us suck up a 20% increase. (Which let's remember, Municipalities like Mandela Bay multiply by 3 before charging them out to taxpayer residents - not to the "poorest of the poor" who pay nothing, under the ATTP.). If you can - get away from Eskom. And every other SOE, they remain toxic.

Eskom also this problem with the split. They don’t know what assets they have & ‘who’ it belongs to - how do they split these assets. Municipalities also feature in this conundrum. When it comes to the cost of energy, municipalities must stop x-subsidising other services with electricity. As a country, nationally we need to have a close look at the overall proper rates, energy & municipal tariff structures. Too many middle men adding cost but no value with no transparency. The discussions had at conference related to gas when it comes to energy will have a massive positive impact on energy costs. (On shore gas-not fracking).
