MJ is the most self-assured athlete I have ever witnessed. And I've been watching sports since 1979 (Magic's rookie season).

My best MJ story, in his first few years in the NBA, every night there was a show called CNN sports and they have a play of the day everyday at the end of the show, could be any sport like bball, football, baseball, hockey, golf, etc. And everyday the play of the day was MJ cause he did something outrageous that no one has ever seen before. And the news casters would go crazy every night. That was the mid 80s. GOAT

Dan Patrick was one of the CNN anchors back then. He tells the story how he voted Jordan EVERY season for MVP.

Never get tired of listening to true GOAT stories! MJ elevated the entire league bc if you got caught slackin it was a wrap!
@kirbyaugustine7616 күн бұрын
That aspect of MJ’s impact on the game is not spoken about enough. He elevated the games of all his peers. He was the standard of excellence everyone aspired to reach and he relished that pressure. In today’s game they’re wondering why viewership is down but never question the correlation between the leadership or lack there of the superstars of the league. None of the greats would allow a 300 point All-Star Game… NEVER!

Most confident person I've seen on tv or anywhere. Jordan's confidence was infectious. His belief in himself made his teammates be confident. If they were not confident in themselves, they were confident in the team and in what the team would be able to accomplish. Because Michael was their leader.

Same type of energy he had in game 6 of 1998 finals. Still calm and collected with confidence with injured Pippen. Even though MJ missed half of his shots in 4th quarter from being gassed, he still scored 16pts out of the final quarter.
@BENJIBKNY7 күн бұрын
This doesn’t get talked about enough. Lebron fans & Jordan haters like to say he couldn’t win without Pippen when he willed the Bulls to victory with an injured Pippen who basically couldn’t move in game 6 of the 98 finals.
@sunike076 күн бұрын
@ seriously, MJ haters have said to me “oh, it’s just one game” or “Pippen still had the better +/-“ just to discredit his victory. I revisited that game 6, Pippen only had 8, MJ had 45, next player on the roster to only score double digits was Kukoc with 15. MJ was always the go to guy on offense, so figuratively MJ was THE LAST MAN STANDING

There's a famous clip of BJ looking at MJ after he hit one of his game-winners, and he's looking at him, running towards him in awe, like he's trying to touch God. 😅 You never ever have to ask this man who he thinks is the GOAT. He has seen miracles with his own eyes.
@paulusrumanouw31768 күн бұрын
This is inline with the story that Doug Collins shared when MJ only scored 8pts in the wizard then asked him if he still believed in MJ, then the next 3 games he exploded with 51, 45, and 29 pts! So in that 4 game stretch he avg. over 33pts despite scoring only 8 in the 1st game.
@seancrowley31427 сағат бұрын
I love that Doug Collins story. It goes to the heart of the kind of person Jordan is. Collins benched him that game if I remember correctly. Even though he is Jordan, he was still coachable and not above criticism. Then, he went out and proved that he could still play. Amazing.

This was the Labradford Smith game in 1993. Smith outscored MJ 37 to 25 the night before and MJ responded with 37pts the next night in the first half alone, and 47 points in 30 minutes.

Reminds me of Kobe when he'd shot 3 air balls during his early years. He'd kept shooting. His confidence never broke. BTW. I like the story that BJ told between Kobe and Jordan at a dinner. Epic conversation. Armstrong is from the Detroit area like myself. I remember when he was playing basketball in high school.

BJ talkin' MJ. I have listened to several of BJs interviews and of course, as you might imagine, A LOT of the interview is about MJ. He is a lot of fun to listen to and seems like a really great and fun guy! I am going to say this... LeBron is a great BB player. As far as the entire package that is LBJ, I put him in the top 20, and that is it. When it comes to charisma, leadership, determination, hard work, and heart, those are where LeBron falls really short vs MJ. MJ led by example in a way that no one else ever could. I promise this... in 5 to 10 to 15 to 20 years after LBJ retires, the Sports Podcasts, the YT highlights, the stories... LBJ won't have even a tiny fraction of people talking about him or showing his highlights... NOT EVEN CLOSE

My personality is almost exactly as MJs, i hate to lose at anything. Wheather its my yard, bones, spades, video games, darts , and on the court. I just believed no one remembered who was 2nd place, i still have that mentality at 55. But trust, it can't be healthy all the time. Because you put so much pressure on yourself, at times it can stress you out.....but i will never ever be comfortable with losing

1993 my parents bought nosebleed seats to the Washington Bullets versus the Chicago Bulls I was nine years old and I got to see Michael Jordan. The laBradford Smith game. I was there. It was like seeing a mythological creature play basketball. I don’t think he missed a shot in the first half.

BJ Armstrong is behind one of my nicest memories as a kid. I'd never won anything like a Raffle or contest at that time. He visited my Sports Camp and signed some basketballs. I won one! Ultimately, that basketball made me a target all day with kids and counselors asking me to play with it. I was forced to assert myself. I was twelve, and was seen as mostly nice... It was an important exercise in me drawing boundaries even with adults.

MJ is the reason why the 90’s were great. Just like how the 80’s were great because of Magic and Bird. And the 70’s because of Dr. J and Kareem. The 60’s & 50’s because of wilt and Russell, and so forth.

MJ never took a night off. If that dude was in the lineup, it was standard min. 20/7/5 And that’s his baseline. Kobe was the closest by far to come to that, followed by LBJ. No days off, hard workers and talent came soooo easy to them. It looked like a piece of cake.
