One of the greatest wingers of all time. Combination of elegance and explosivness. The stats may look ordinary in terms of goals, but assist record was great in that era. Let's not forget giggs was out and out winger in a 442 system. In today era, he would of been far more productive as wingers have become inside forwards.

When he got older and couldn't make the runs like he used to he focused in on long passes and getting in good crosses. It's amazing how long he was able to be with the club and still be able to contibute.

Giggs (along with Romario) literally took me as a child from not bothered about football to LOVING football for life thus far. His pacy, mazy runs in those early years along with really large goal contributions really lit up a game. It was always exciting when he got on the ball as he make things happen. Superb as an out and out winger, but would pop up centrally and do the strikers job alot too! Then if i recall he became badly injured and with it somewhat injury prone and he definately lost abit of something through that but as time went on Fergie used Giggs in deeper roles and his experience made him more intelligent on the ball, often playing like Scholesy! Also he was an absolite role model having no red cards and always playing extremely fair (on the pitch at least ahem!). Truly after George Best, this was the closest UTD have had to his second coming but Giggs trophy/medal cabinet and honours is stratospheric in world football and its no coincidence, the guy is a legendary player!

I remember when commentators kept making out it was rare if Giggs scored with his head which it never was he was good at headers. He was more comfortable heading than using his right foot. I counted around 20 headed goals here and different types of headers, flick on headed goals (Wimbledon 96/97), finding corners from crosses either from left side to right corner or right side to right corner or left corner, downward headers (Arsenal 02/03), long range (Coventry 00/01), headers where he has to jump quite high (quite a few) etc... A much better ratio of scoring with his head than some strikers, way more than ThierryHenry for example.

Yeah but Cristiano has 10 less PL titles than Giggs for ManUtd. It's a team game and Giggs (who I'm not even an amazing fan of) was just as happy assisting (or not even assisting just seeing his teammate has scored) than scoring himself. Giggs also tracked back much more. As did Rooney who I'll mention in a bit. Ronaldo was also given every opportunity to score as many as possible. Taking many penalties, he was on free-kick duty for over 3 years before he got good at them and that was because he was more interested in seeing if he could score rather than maybe allowing someone who'll make better use of it take the free-kick. There were better free-kick takers than CR7 for a long time including Giggs & Rooney but CR7 was on them a lot which helped him with the practice he was given (I think most other teams wouldn't have been so patient with him) when he shouldn't have been on them, he'd shoot into row z when there's a free-kick that isn't even in a shooting position but would've been useful to cross into the box etc...He scored just 3 freekicks in his first 4 seasons and 1of them was sort of a fluke, at least 1 other was courtesy of the new balls swerving more than they used to. Rooney scored more free kicks than CR7 in 2004/05 and I doubt he took as many as CR7, Giggs scored at least the same maybe more than CR7 over that first 4 year period of CR7's ManUtd career as I can definitely reel off 3 free kicks Giggs scored Bolton 03/04 Giggs Benfica 05/06 Lille 06/07.

Exactly, I love CR7 but always felt like the Ronaldo show. Beyond legends, no doubt, but as a team game. Giggs defo offered more. Ronaldo, let's face it, is a selfish human being on the football pitch even when he assists it all about him. Credit to him wouldn't have the record he does otherwise but can be grinding on serious football fans who just love the team play element of football. Partly why we all loved the Spain side and why Messi is adored so much by football fans. Selflessness goes a long way.
