I am in the entertainment business and this is a very common hold by bouncers and some others. True story: I was in Frankfurt Germany doing a show and after the show my crew and I went to a bar next door. I went to the bathroom and some guy taller than me jumped me from the back and placed me in a choke hold. I couldn't swallow and my eyes went blurry, but I fought him off and tackled him down to the ground. When I was still kicking his fu@king head in everyone barged into the bathroom. My friends and I boogied out of there fast. Later on I remembered that I had learnt these moves in all the past fights I had been involved in. I like toys but in Germany I couldn't carry.... Bad ass forever.

Keep a pocket knife with you at all times... When someone jumps you like that stab him in the arm and twist, pull out and poke again. I did that in Karachi, Pakistan to a SOB. There was so much blood that it was freaky and his screams were music to my ears... I had 40 or some spectators, but all were frightened. I jumped out of airplanes too many moons ago....

@@alexansari2138 for sure thats a good plan! but if the other guy really knows what he is doing, takes you by surprise and locks a clean choke you barely have 2-3 seconds before you pass out. You will have to act realy realy fast and you will probably have no time to put your arm in your pocket , "open" your knife and stab him properly. Unless of course if you have a military style knife placed i a strategical position to be able to grab it really fast. But on your daily life this isn t really possible for 99% of people.

Exactly, if you have someone in a choke I mean real life street fight forearm across their larynx and they try anything and you don't give a fuck about how much you hurt them they will not get out. In competition you aren't allowed to really choke someone so yeah they might get out. In these demonstrations the guy applying the choke isn't really trying to hurt the guy in the choke. The guy doing the choke will either lower himself into a partial crouch or he will lift and lean back taking some weight of the guy off his feet. Sure if the guy applying the choke is only trying to control the guy in the choke then the guy in the choke has a good chance of getting out.

Yeah love that bit! The point is you have to do something. People saying it won't work, but doing nothing defo isn't gonna work. The main thing is you should never allow yourself to be put in this position in the first place! But it happens you know so try what ever you feel is most effective based on your training.

i wrestled all four years of high school. then i changed GYMs and found a BBJ guy. i thought wrestling was badass.. but when u combine the two. look out average guy. i also recommend taking boxing to learn how to thro punches and practice all three alil everyday. im not saying u have to get crazy and try to become a expert. but muscle memory is a real thing. and having muscle memory of na street fight. ull prolly win every time fighting the average Joe. love this vid. and love the guy teaching. remember to always respect ur friends that fight ajd and specially the one that dont. not all ur friends will have ur passions for learning fighting skills.

I recommend boxing or muay thai not only for punching. But also, to learn how to take and defend a punch. Found out when some Muay Thai guy was practicing with us defending a kick “BJJ” style and I found that I was scared of getting kicked more so than being punched. So I need to learn the basics of striking for at least three months or preferably a year, even if I’m not going to use it, I will be better at defending it.

@@dannygjk I'm trying to understand your point. If a sneaky meth head wants to rob me and may even injure or kill me, let's hope that I practice situational awareness and have a quick reaction time so that I can fall to my training and woop his ass. Let's hope that he's not a wrestling prodigy, larger and more athletic than I am. If I don't have situational awareness, I'm drunk, I'm 'rusty' or my reaction time is slow, let's fix that first. Techniques that I know about but don't practice seem [to me] about as useful as a toothbrush in the hands of someone who doesn't know how to properly use one.

Dean fights on such a full spectrum dominance level, even in the fog of combat, thinking seemingly several moves ahead on positioning locks, that his nickname should be Dean "Check Mate" Lister or Dean "OODA LOOP Assailant" Lister. What a delight to watch Dean conduct his mental and physical chess game on the octagon board. Bravo for the visual treats in this video, and the glimpse of a true professional at his craft. It's Dean's world when he enters the octagon and the opponents, though professionals themselves, often just look like pawns on the octagon game board.

I think you just saved a lot of lives this is truly about people helping people. There are a lot of videos teaching people how to get hurt and even killed with fake martial arts so there has been an influx of the real pros explaining that the best defense is running away but when it comes to real life no choice situations THIS VIDEO IS DEFINITELY IN THE TOP TEN ALL TIME SELF DEFENSE WHAT FRIGHTENS ME IS how long will it be before everyone realizes there are 3,4,5 of the most vulnerable life changing or deadly spots to attack . Generally none of us are psychotic but what happens when we give ourselves permission to attack these spots like driving our thumbs as far into person head through their eyes as possible or drive a common wild HAYMAKER from as far as we can reach and driving a fist with our 250lb weight into their Adams Apple like a world series pitcher ...fighting is never good .

"Unfortunately, this person may have really bad intentions for me." Super important. My dad put me in Jiu Jitsu as a younger child and in any self defense class I feel it's the same: NOTHING is more important than you leaving the situation. It doesn't matter if it's a fight, or you're being attacked. You have no idea what they will do to you if you end up on the floor, it's up to you to not only escape the situation, but make sure nobody is hurt when the police arrive. If you've been trained to apply a choke and they end up dead your sentence is usually worse.

When I started Jujitsu in 1979 nobody knew what Jujitsu was. My teacher taught Bruce Lee Jujitsu. His teacher Henry S. Okazaki, brought Jujitsu to Hawaii from Japan in the 1920s. And was considered to have the most comprehensive martial art in the world at that time. Karate, Kung Fu, Tai Kwon Do, were popular in the movies, so that is what people studied. There was no competition for Jujitsu in my day. Now because of people like you bringing Jujitsu from Brazil, people want to do Jujitsu. Because Jujitsu is mainstream now. You guys have brought it out of the shadow of these American mainstream styles. My teacher took his Jujitsu students from Hawaii and was the first to beat the San Jose State never before defeated undefeated Judo team. In the NCAA Championships. We know the Gracies, Machado's. Our martial arts family goes back many generations. The great thing now is that people are cross-training. Nobody cross-trained in my day. It was not allowed. You had to give up one style and start as a white belt in another style. And it took 15 years, to get the secrets from each master. Because back then, the immigrants had the arts. So you had to respect the art and their culture that came with it. MMA and BJJ is the closest thing to real fighting in the ring. But of course like you said, I would be limited with the rules. Japanese jujitsu is more direct. Because the Samurai used it on the battlefield. So every technique had to be martial combat. I went and trained with the San Jose State Judo team's black belts for fun. At the time I was only a blue belt. I was impressed by their strong legs. But they would not allow me to use my Jujitsu techniques, because of the rules. That is the main reason why I never competed. I was discouraged by the lack of freedom I had in their judo competitions. But thanks to people like yourself, people are seeing the limits of their own styles. And for the first time in America, people are breaking with tradition, and opening up their minds to blending the arts in new ways.

Havent trained in about 20 years. Been criminal as fuck. But there you have a certain takedown and lights out. If hi has a strong neck pull back in his face just under the nose into the theeth up touching the nose on the gums. Nobody can with stand this takedown. Bodydynamics Are key. And nope i aint well trained. But I live ;} if this Choke. Or lock.. came as a suprice on me and I could split second fell the attacker is trained. Id try to hit up under his albow. We teach our Sheriff’s Academy recruits similar methods, almost exactly, including the finger grab. Here is a part of the technique we just learned, try raising (shrugging) the shoulder opposite the wrist going under the chin, as the arm comes around, or after it makes it, as you grab. No kidding, shrug it. It is very hard to lock the grip when it happens. I personally love turning back towards the the side they grabbed with, pulling the elbow down and torquing their shoulder. Game ended.

This is a great video with good methodologies . It's interesting how many instructors will never mention eye jabs which is a definite fight ender . A properly executed Japanese stranglehold is deadly business if done correctly . The larynx is crushed with the forearm during the process of the strangle hold . More than one turd has been blinded in one or both eyes . Thanks for this video .

Dork Born good thinking! It would be better to go for their front thigh then work your way up from there. It might not affect them too bad with adrenaline and possible drugs in their system. So dont stop until you have a beef flank for sundays church bbq.

I have never tried the technique but I did try a similar one with an 8 year MMA practitioner. The problem was that in the firs step when you pull down the arm with both your arms it has no effect. The guy did not budge. So I wasted a few seconds of valiable time to no avail.I am going to try all his options with maximum resistance and see how it goes and will report back. Lots of useful stuff here. Thanks for sharing! I really like the last technique and will test it shortly.

Having been assaulted and choked out 3-4 times I did survive. Petite XX, avoided even worse. Seems I did a few things well...but being I was often in the air and not touching the ground, attacker was XY, seemed strong and taller than me. Glad I fought and saved my life. I tried to flip over but my conditioning and injuries restricted me. Glad to see this video/subscribed

my buddy had a guy that tried to choke him from behind in a bar fight, but the guy was almost twice my friend's size so most of the normal defenses were off the table. he reached down behind him and grabbed the dude's balls as hard as he could and started to tear them forward, away from the guy's body and the guy let go of the choke real fucking fast and dropped straight to the ground. afterwards some people were giving my buddy shit about doing that and calling him gay, but like he said, if you are 5'9" 160lbs and you have a 6'4" 280lb guy who wants to hurt you and has a deep choke locked in, it's better to look a little gay by crushing his balls than it is to get chocked unconscious and probably get stomped out on the concrete. if you are in a legitimate possible life and death situation during a street fight it's better to start fighting dirty than not waking up ever again.

I Rode the Subway in the Bronx New York for 20 Years ! Never once did i see a Rear Choke Hold ! Usually i would see some Dude Getting Blindsided with a Razor Sheet Rock Cutter ! BJJ Failed every incident I've ever seen ! Laying on the Steel Floor in a Grappling Position on the Subway Train in Close Quarters is the last place in the world you wanna Be !!! Too many Dudes think the Real world Streets and a MMA Cage are the same ?? They are two different Worlds and i don't care what Martial Art you practice, You can lose Badly !!! BJJ Is the Worst art for the Streets !

The second one I am not a fan of, but the other two are legit gold. The first one I have actually used twice and it worked. Something to add is if you place your feet just in front of and inside his feet you can get great lift for the throw.

Also, when people make a fist, I simply wrap my hand and fingers outside of their fist, grabbing all 4 fingers fisted together and then roll and peel them back and open just as we do otherwise. I find it's even harder when they use their own chin to help shield their locking hand though. Thx again for the video bro!
