If I owned one I'd expect to do the odd 300 mile (500km) trip in the UK. The range would be good for 50 weeks of the year though.

Enough chargers in England's motorway service stations so there's nothing to worry about except for the M5 on the summer tourist season weekends. Mid/north wales and the Scottish highlands would be the troublespots

I bought the Mini and will pick it up tomorrow. I couldn’t care less about charging speed as this is our second car for city only. It will never see a HPC charger again after the pickup tomorrow. We bought the car because it’s a lot of fun to drive. And we like the exterior and interior. Btw we got almost 25% discount. Mini SE JCW Trim. Bought it before Mini switched their sales model in Germany.

Why is everybody bitching about the price? In Germany it is 31650€ that is cheaper than the 52kwh Renault 5!

Had the F56 S E for 3 years and that was fine then for my needs - so glad now that I went for the Countryman S E rather than wait for the J01. The other advantage of the Countryman for me was that I became taxi driver to 2 x 95year old parents and there was no way that they could both travel with me on the same journey in the F56 or J01 and from the reviews of the Aceman the rear seat legroom is no better than the J01 hatch which is a real let down.

1. Assuming it's like the rest of the BMW/Mini cars needs to show you the battery temperature without sticking an OBD in and running a separate app. ABRP will show it. 2. V. Surprised by how rapidly the battery charge rate drops compared to other BMW models. I had expected the "too many fast charges in a day" feature to arrive -the one first seen with the iX4, but instead it throttled almost out the door. 3. And I finally realised what that display reminds me of it's the Apple Watch "everything in a retro watch look" display. The one that nobody seems to use after playing with it for half an hour. The key benefit here is actually the Matthew is better than the normal BMW view as it is a bigger display and good for showing the entire range of the vehicle. The BMW could address it everywhere by sticking a bigger display and it doesn't have to be a circle.

Hi Bjørn, thanks for doing the 1000km challenge. I am eyeballing the new Mini SE since it got launched (SE JCW in XL fully spec’d😍, white with red roof and red bonnet stripes) , but still debating if k€52 (including 21%VAT, but I can claim the VAT when using it as a company car) is worth the money for a small car I want to use 100-180 km daily. As we have a home charger unit (and solar panels) there is no urgent need for using fast charges on a regular basis, only when it is needed to get me home. Wifey already bought a MY SR which we took for our holiday trip to south of France. Now I want to replace my “old” 2017 MX for something more compact, because who needs 2 big ass cars when driving most of the time alone. So the MX will make room for a compact car, that we can use for citytrips and me going to work. I saw the consumption of the Mini is around 215 Wh/ km at an average of 120km/hr in Norwegian fall/winter, which is comparable with Dutch winters. That sounds not bad, especially when our speedlimit at day time is mostly 100km/hr, that will bring the consumption under 200wh/km during the winter I guess. Thanks for sharing the in depth review of the Mini. Let’s see if the BMW/Mini dealer can make me a friendly offer to switch over to Mini😉.

@teslabjorn - Since the last software update on my BMW IX40 I have the exact same battery preconditioning messages. 100% the same. It’s interesting to see that so many elements / buttons/ etc from bmw ix are on this mini. Made me so annoyed / OCD :-) that I switched off the option. The Manual “alert/advice” didn’t come on a 400 km trip
@SteveLoughranКүн бұрын
Yeah, it's the same font and more. I wonder if the mini app is better and lets you generate a route plan with stops, save it for reuse and then download it in its entirety for the car - rather than have the car make its own decisions as it goes along

How is this a model 3 competitor? Tiny city car vs big ish sedan. Competitors would be honda e, e-208, fiat 500e. That size.

Yeah, not a long distance cruiser, like BMW i5. This is really a city car that you just charge on the AC most of the time and drive less in a day than its full battery range.
