The i7 shares many components including the body with its ICE counterpart. Hence the hump at the back and overall non optimal usage of space.

Its not an obsession… most ICE Bmws are equipped with straight 6 cylinder engines… which are longer then 4 cyl, V6s or V8s, thus require more space under the hood. so its a necessity not an obsession. This EV is built on a shared platform with the classic ICE 7 series. Oh and yes… bmw customers dont care for the short hood - hyunday/ prius aestethic. Sports cars generally have long hoods.

Two reasons why I (as long time BMW driver) would always decide for the EQS over the i7 and the EQE over the upcoming i5: Firstly, I think it is important that I can approach my car from the front without thinking how ugly it is. Secondly, this is a compromised design where a ICE platform was electrified and, hence, you do not get the full benefits of an BEV, but all the disadvantages. It reminds me of early ICE car designs like the Daimler Motorkutsche of the 19th century which were horse carriages with an attached combustion engine - equally compromised designs which quickly disappeared.

The EQS 580 which matches the the i7 xDrive60 best in power (385kW vs. 400kW) and torque (855Nm vs. 745Nm) accelerates faster in standardized acceleration tests (4.3s vs. 4.7s for 0-100kph) delivers a higher EPA range (340miles vs. 318 miles) and better energy consumption (36 kWh/100miles vs. 38 kWh/100miles) and has a lower weight which translates into less "built in CO2-equivalent". DC charging time according to the manufacturers from 10% to 80% is 31min for the EQS (meaning 238 add. miles) and 34 min for the i7 (where it translates to 223 add. miles). Finally it offers equal interior space despite being significantly shorter. So again, based on which quantifyable measure other than kidney-size is it better?

@@Alexander-ig6jm for a car on an built on an ev dedicated platform, with is quite a bit smaller. Not that much lighter and designed with aero in mind. In don't find it to be impressive. And the car is a lot smaller in the back. I’ve sat in both cars and they don’t compare

@bjornnyland do you always take the seat pack off the frame for your pram? We usually fold it all down still attached. Would be useful to see if that made a difference to how it fits in the boot as that is way more convenient than reassembling the Priam every time 7:28

I think that an I7 is much bigger than an EQS, that the dimensions are not in the same class... As for the free space under the hood and the central transmission tunnel, the reason is that this platform also comes with internal combustion engines

The i7 is significantly longer without providing more cabin space or trunk space. The reason is that it wastes length in a non necessary extra long hood - same applies to the i4 and will apply to the i5.

As an EQS owner I can say i7 has nothing to do with EV world from outside , it is a classical ICE car. But also inside. If we enter în a new trend the cars must show clearly this. Technically I am happy EQS has not heat pump because thus I have less parts prone to break. Better reliability is good while there are enough charging stations for autonomy , it is not necessary to add a heat pump în the car.

Not really the i7 was always planned to be an EV - a modular platform, not backward converted. The i7 is a luxury Sedan with the needed presence, that's why it's looking like that. Would I buy it? No thank you.

@@ciybersal9833 in the case of CLAR platform it is. This is an excellent EV, very efficient and luxurious, even Björn loves it more then the EQS. There sonly one dedicated EV platform with BMW which is the iX, quite good too. And yes no frunk and a tunnel in between.

Perfect car for CEOs between 0-4 years old who like to sit in the back, shame that you can't reach the control screen from your child fortuitous should be adjustable! The car knows you're in Thailand and can't compete with the real deal so it doesn't offer Thai massage! BMW always fills on the right side in Thailand the driver is on the wrong side!😁
