The original 2CV was designed like this: It must be able to carry 4 farmers with hats, carrying boxes of eggs, and no egg should break driving across the farmlands (not kidding). This Mehari was more of a beach buggy / fun car based on the 2CV. Really funny stuff.

This car only have 2 springs, one on each side of the car, you can see the spring cylinder in the video. It's kind of a running joke that the door touches the ground while cornering. But it sticks well to the road. This car is a variant of the 2CV, and it was designed to be able to drive across a ploughed field while it’s loaded up with eggs without the eggs breaking. Very off-road capable car. Search 2cv off-road....

I had so much fun just riding with you. I had a Citroen 2CV6 . I got it in Cape Town South Africa in 1991 with 22km on the clock. Flat 2 cylinder 602cc Boxer motor, Also known as: 1. "du Chau Vaux" (two horses) 2. "the Umbrella on 4 wheels" and 3. Duckling 4. "Tin Snail". The EDen is based on the stripped down original frame of the 2CV. Andes The original platform was developed before WWII 1930's. Produced 1936 to 1991

Shiiiiiieeeeeeet. Welcome to the convertible world :D This place looks like Nordkapp but it's warmer :p Cassis = kæsi or kæsis Méhari = Meæri (h is silent in french and no rolled r, use bergensk r) 2CV = dø sjø vå (Die sea wet ? Draugen !?) Fossil version had 29 HP 602cc twin cylinders engine from 2CV. This car was made to go off road like a Jeep. They even built a 4x4 version. Stupid laws are preventing people to do it on bigger cars, we need another revolution.

No teslas, no leafs, no Hyundais... This is the coolest electric car I've ever seen, even though it doesn't have any sort of modern commodity. Just an old school gearbox, an electric motor and range to spare, how freaking cool is that!!! You can even downshift to use engine brake... Or make wheelspins. I love that. Long live manual geaboxes!!!! 😍❤️❤️

Loved it Bjorn. I have a 1967 Jeepster that one day I may convert to electric, love driving it without the top in the summer. If I make the conversion, I will need to figure out if I keep the gear box, maybe, it is noisy on second gear... but I somewhat like that noise. Anyway, when coming back from that cliff, if you had put it in second gear you would had used less brakes. Not sure if it would regenerate more or not, though.

I remember renting a fossil Citroen Mahari in the '80's in Corfu. Even with 6 people and luggage it was possible to go all over the island, albeit slowly, especially up hills. The suspension seemed far too soft but in reality was amazingly compliant for the low speeds. The EV version would be a perfect holiday rental in a warm climate, especially in an island setting with small, winding roads. With low cost running and low maintenance as well as zero-emissions, charged from solar, it could be a winner.

The fosil car had only 29 horse horse power, its a lot like the2VC and the dyane. its was tre difrent cars, bild on the same frame. its perfekt on the beach. and as a winter car for. taking the ski up hill. ( you must dress accordingly for that and ski glases well why not ;-) ) you can take out the seats, its was posibil on them all. 2CV and dyane. to they all hade the same seats. i remember a trip with my mom and dad, pulling a small boat with the dyane. having my optimist dinniy on the roof it had "some" problems. going up hill. but it was the best holiday ever. I LOVE it the electric mehari

They can't call it an e-Méhari because that already exists and is "sold" by Citroën: www.citroen.com/en/Highlight/4/e-Mehari It also costs €25,000 plus battery lease. But it goes 125 miles on a 30 kWh pack, with a 110 kph speed limiter.

An old FFV which is better as an EV. When they get it properly sorted and refined this could be a nice vehicle. I have a VW Transporter Type 2.5/3 van, and it would make a fantastic EV conversion. Huge, high ground clearance for underslung skateboard batteries and an enormous engine/gearbox bay. Crying out to be converted. Would make the ultimate old style camper/surfer wagon.

I's not called "e-mehari" because there is a official E-Mehari made by Citroen nowadays: www.citroen.de/modelle/citroen/neuer-citroen-e-mehari.html It's the one with that weird battery, which has to kept warm all the time. Even if you park the batteryheater is running. So it has to be plugged in all the time. I guess it would not suffer rapidgate from a hot battery...

Hi Bjorn, Really love most of your videos, but this one....IT WAS FAN-TAS-TIC!! But did you know there is another electric Méhari made in France (No, I don't mean the Citroën (Bolloré) one, I mean classic style but more modern)? I'm very, very curieus about your opinion about the Méhari Loisirs E-Story (as it's called) (www.mehari-loisirs.fr). Maybe one little hint: that onehas no gearbox...that may disappoint you, maybe. Any chance you'll review this one day?

I wish more EV makers would produce this rugged format of car. It would not have to be modified too much more to make it useful in the real world. There are many such conversions done worldwide on the EV Album website. A good improvement would be to install a fixed ratio differential instead of keeping the bell housing and original clutch. This is a lot of extra weight that is not needed.

There's a region in the south of France where you now get 5,000€ on top of the 6,000€ national incentive for EVs. So you get 11,000€ off the price of your new EV. But as you mentioned this may not qualified as a car so you probably won't access any grant
