Seal U will be my first electric car, the other option was Enyaq. After the test drives, the whole family voted for Byd, the whole is convincing and especially the comfortable ride and good sound insulation were convincing. Not to mention the equipment in this price range, and the interior also has its own atmosphere compared to the Skoda. Driving is really easy, smooth and calm. If you are looking for a sporty driving feel, then this is certainly not the right choice 🙂The warranty is good, and the delivery time is short from the European temporary warehouse. The car will arrive to us within a month... Greetings to Isabel :-)

Didn't testdrive IONIQ 5? BYD's "autopilot" and choppy cruise control is a dealbreaker for me. We love our IONIQ 5. Loads of space, backseat bench can be adjusted forward, lots of equipment for the money (360 camera, V2L, ventilated seats, summon, HUD etc), super fast charging, long warranty, 1600kg towing.

@@Danne89 Yeah sure... it's a great car! At least in Finland, it's quite a lot more expensive than BYD, you should have taken the premium equipment level, so money was one factor for BYD. I also don't really like its appearance, although many think it's one of the most stylish. Warranty is about the same...

Other BYD cars activate the assistant by saying 'Hey BYD' or a button on the steering wheel and saying 'set temperature to 24 degrees' or 'I'm cold' and temp will increase by 1 degree. This means less distraction trying to use the screen to set the temp. Power usage increased in cruise control when you were driving up a slope.

Another downside we discovered, is the Apple Car Play interface. It didn't work with the USB-C interface. I talked to the seller, and she said that the software in the infotainment might be something that they will update shortly. The seats are actually decent for driving longer distances. We loved the overall space in the cabin, you can easily fit an adult behind me after I adjusted the seat the way I want. The trunk is also big enough for our dog to stay there. This is good value for the money, and we might buy one. Just need to test some of the other cars out there first.

Isabel's voice is fine, but I hear a lot of rumbling from the tyres. You say it's quiet, so it must be the mikes that capture very well the low frequencies.

Hi Bjorn! In addition to your EV tests, it's great to follow your family's everyday life. I can relate to most of your daily joys and struggles. Have a 21-month-old son and a 1-month-old daughter + moving into our almost-finished house on a tight budget. Have you considered an extended rear-facing seat for Isabelle? Shame that Cybex does not offer one with proper legroom. There is very little choice with Isofix though. We use Axkid One 2. That one can accommodate kids rear-facing up to 6 years/23kg. It has its ergonomic issues but the rear seating position compensates those. Now that Isabelle is about 2 years old and soon switching seat size, you could do a child seat comparison test with Isabelle's feedback if sponsorship allows it. Thanks for the entertainment!

I was looking forward to this in the UK but BYD are first releasing this as PHEV only and then sending us the Sea Lion (which may be better). I think you did not hear about this as it is an older platform. The original name in China is Song Plus and it was renamed to build on the success of the Seal although it is quite different underneath. See details on the Viking.
