You said 235/60 in the video and that would be 18 ;) Biggest differences would be from temperature, deep charge and driving speed. They are both made on the same factory (Aichi, Japan). So better would translate to styling and interior. Drivetrain and battery on AWD are similar acc. specs. The Lexus has a larger motor in the front but is also heavier. "Haters gonna hate, but their is no denying Lexus/Toyota quality and reliability." Is that why so many customers returned their subpar BZ4X cars due to poor winter range? Or why Toyota issued a recall on the model because of the risk of losing the wheels while driving? It's kind of interesting how one of the largest automakers in the world is at the bottom when it comes to EV transition. Probably because they bought some shitty cells and built that into the car so when you fast charge a lot, the cells individual SoC% will drift away from each other (because of different coulombic and Wh based efficiencies) and the BMS can't balance them fast enough so the BMS need time to rebalance the pack to avoid sharp SoC drops at low charge levels. A 1000 km challenge is probably not that far off from that, as the test should asimptotically approach the number that your idea for testing would net. And you could actually derive that data from within the test, by removing the time and distance traveled from the first leg up to a point where the soc is the same as it will be reached on the last charge of the test.
@kosiranze6 ай бұрын
@@Moody_Blues_ it would be comparable, but just as in the 1000km challenge, the soc to which the car gets charged would differ. This test would essentially present the cars average travel speed with charging on an infinetely long trip. The 1000km challenge otoh is arguably more relevant irl, as you generally start a road trip with a full battery and end with it somewhat empty. The presented test would essentially eliminate the advantage of a big battery for road trips in terms of range purely, and present the travel speeds after the first leg more accurately. If you are not sure on why that could be usefull, check out out of spec roadtrip comparison between lucid air and taycan, which clearly demonstrates that while lucid initially is faster due to its longer range, the taycan starts to gain on it after a few charges.

Most automakers currently lose money for each BEV they sell (except for Tesla and BYD). Whether GM, Ford, Hyundai, or most Chinese and European companies, everyone is losing money in their EV business, which is why many are pulling back from EVs and shifting towards hybrids. Toyota would also become less profitable if this model became popular. Toyota's main EV product will be introduced around 2027/2028 with their Solid-State Batteries. Toyota is thriving. Their EV strategy might be.. lacking, but it seems like they were right after all.

Toyota making record sales/profits while sleeping. Imagine what they do when they're awake.

It's almost as if they're deliberately bad at it, or they do no benchmarking and actually believe it's a good product. I'm 120% sure that the RZ,the Bz4x and the UX ev will be very reliable and durable cars,but they are not good in the key area..being good ev . I should know,I have a polestar and a bz4x ..the polestar is lightyears ahead. Now if the Toyota's had 800v like the Koreans,but with Toyota reliability,and a proper route planning software with pre conditioning,and Tesla efficiency.. youd have the non plus ultra

As a German I wouldn’t buy a car in that price region that only goes 160km/h.
