The Magical Battle Royale of ALL Sorcerers - Elden Ring

In this elden ring video I've created a battle royale between all of the most powerful sorcerers in the game. As with other battle royales I decided to play different rounds with different scalings and I've decided to include only those npcs that don't deal any other kind of damage if not through sorceries or incantations.

The best part about Rennala is that it isn’t even her: it is a trap-illusion created by Ranni should anyone ever try to harm her mother. Sort of an ideal version of her in Ranni’s eyes. As such the real Rennala, in her prime, would most likely be far more intelligent, powerful and dangerous.

The AI seems to go braindead the instant Rennala pulls out a summon. They immediately give almost exclusive priority to attacking the summon even when it hasn't done anything yet.

If there's one boss whose "prime" I would love to see in game, it's Rennala. She never fights us at all, technically, and the closest we get to seeing the Queen of Caria at her height is through Ranni's illusion. It's possible that it's a fair representation of her strength but we definitely don't know that for sure.

We "fight" her on the first phase and she can hit like a truck there. In the second phase was solely a illusion but i kinda loved how stronger she was, but the thing is, she have really low HP and that's what's disappointing about it. Also lore wise I completely agree that she was much stronger than the illusion Ranni created. She hold her ground against Radagon and Marika, her variant knights are op as hell too

Something seems *way off* with the AI here. The Perfumers refused to ever attack Rennala, Gideon seemingly forgot his Comet and Rykard's Rancor abilities, and Corhyn didn't even have his flail. Also, did Rogier have his rapier for that matter? The dragon summon appeared to last for an unnaturally long time in the second fight too.

I think his AI was messed up because he was given a move set that is impossible for him to have normally. He can't have two boss spells and have Comet Azur as the second boss spell removes it from his spell list. If he has all three boss spells then he also loses access to Triple Rings of Light.

This is exactly why Raya Lucaria and Rennala is such a nightmare for mage builds. They’re all much faster and do much more damage which is why melee builds make this area easy since getting up close makes it easier to dodge most spells. Even when I did a magic play through, I struggled with Rennala and then won instantly with a claw weapon.

Really wish there was an endgame mage boss. Rennala's good but she is only rated for about 1/3 of the way through and the fact that the other mages, even in the endgame, struggle to equal her says a lot about mage bosses.

the problem is that, with the game having PvP, the spells need to be balanced for PvP, which means they can't be powerful enough to give end game players too much trouble, since that would make for an extremely unhealthy meta.

@@windhelmguard5295 Well it's not like they haven't been afraid to Wallmart the boss moves. Just look at our SA vs Malenia's. Either way the problem is stats and movepool for endgame. Rennala and Gideon have near even stats despite being at opposite ends of the game.

It is not that other mage bosses are necessarily weaker then her but that fighting Rennala with magic is the worst way to do it due to here 80% magic resistance so everyone was doing reduced damage to her. Other bosses like Gideon can probably beat a lot of enemies she can't, it is just the fact that Rannala is essentially an Anti-Mage Mage that she looks so strong it this video. Also the fact that her range seems to be way bigger then everyone else allowing her to be on the other side of the map and still hit snipe people with Azur while they can't hit her, as seen in the first battle when her Azur could hit Gideon while his could not from the same distance.
