I don't think I've seen you roll with such an aggressive (+ capable) opponent before. I think it's good to have those high energy aggressive rolls sometimes to get accustomed to firing under pressure. Hope you're uninjured and thanks for the great content!

Heavy roll with a heavy bloke using all his weight as much as he could. Looked tiring. Good the coach checking all ok. Impressed with your positive attitude. Nice video.

This guy is putting in on you for no reason. This looked like it sucked for you. Why hold on to that arm triangle for a minute when he didn’t have it? I don’t get people like this at all. He’s a black belt rolling against a guy older and smaller than him. Chill tf out.

It sucked but I learned. I learned I could even get in there with a guy like Frank and survive for a while

Man I am a pretty big guy, 6' 3", 205 lbs. I dont think I could go this hard on someone this much smaller than me. IDK maybe I should? I can apply a LOT of pressure when I want to but I rarely do.
@Jitsover50

I always try to go as easy as possible because I find the outcome is usually the same. If I tried getting into a pissing match I would have been dominate anyway. Plus the huge increase in the risk of injury. I think you should develop the skill first then use size when competing

I enjoy watching your channel! Just some observations....When he had you in side control in the beginning of the video, you did a good job of tucking the right arm preventing any Kimora attempt, but you kept your left arm too high allowing him to trap the arm for an Americana attempt. If you were to keep your right shoulder elevated (off the mat slightly), it kills the Americana because the angle for him is wrong. As soon as he would have attempted it, you could have turned away and turtled. However, because you were flat, you lost that option. Look into watching some of Priit Mihkelson's videos (baby bridging, running man, turtle and Hawkins) and you'll find it easier to escape turning away from your opponent. For me, it was a game changer and never looked back!! As a 57 year old brown belt, I constantly turn away from my opponents and not into them to regain guard. Generally I wind up in turtle facing them and sitting back into seated guard, or wind up trapping a leg and regaining half guard. If you watch Eduardo Telles, he's a master at that. At our age, its more about surviving and weathering the storm, frustrating the hell out of them, and attacking when they exhaust themselves out 😅

14 weeks into Jiu Jitsu, I try to take your advice of “going slow”(and by doing that I am able to LEARN the techniques and just not SMASH them out). But I see this at the academy - not a fan of rolling with these people. “What happened to you eye!?!” -my wife “Why are you so bruised?!?” -my wife “What happened to your ring finger, can you even wear your wedding ring?” -my wife (Tap early, Tap Often).

First of all great to hear and thank you for watching. I try to roll with everyone! Though I have certain people I trust more than others. This may surprise you but I trust Frank. I totally understand what you are saying though.

Not to take anything away from his technique, but the fact that he felt he needed to use that much strength makes you better but does nothing really for him. The thing about winning with strength against a physically weaker opponent is that you're throwing away your chance to hone your craft. If you want to use power, why not just lift weights instead of roll? To me, whoever uses more energy is losing. He probably could have beat you with pressure alone but for some reason chose to waste energy.
