Academy Awards (Oscars) are only given for films, which does not include mini series (like BlackBird). However, Paul did win a Golden Globe for best supporting actor in a limited series/anthology!

Paul Hauser’s role in Black Bird ranks as one of the most captivating villains of all time, up there with: No Country for Old Men, Inglorious Bastards, Silence of the Lambs. The Usual Suspects and other greats!

Love Paul's attitude of how method acting can negatively impact those who have to work with him. Actors never speak about this but clearly it CAN have a negative effect based on articles I have read about what it is like to have to work with Jared Leto and Jeremy Strong. A refreshing lack of narcissism from someone doing a notoriously self-involved profession!
@ferferrairo2 жыл бұрын
yes! Jeremy Strong was precisely the person that came to my mind the minute Paul started talking about that. I mean, the guy's amazing on Succession, but I think working with him must be at best annoying and at worst a nightmare

First off - amazing series and phenomenal acting. Both of these actors captured the true POV of two different types of criminals. One who is psychologically off, kills without remorse and has no business seeing the light of day, since he poses a threat to society. And one who does non-violent crimes as a result of economical and social upbringing and has a high chance of rehabilitation (which tbh, most low-level and medium-security prisons should focus on rehabilitation and therapy more). I have to give major props to both actors for selling the heck out of their roles. And kudos to Paul for managing to immerse himself into that level of acting without leaning into method-acting. Second, Taron's body language, Chicago-Italian accent and overall little nuances blew me away. I for sure thought I was witnessing a 90s crime boss. And his acting was the biggest thing that kept me "locked into the 90s" for the show's setting. It's amazing how well he sells it. And on a whole other, slightly inappropriate note -- I truly appreciate seeing him shirtless in the first episode. The abs, the shoulders, the swag. Whew! Chef's kiss 🤌🏾 But I also love the fact that, although the actor has an amazing physique, they never once focused on selling s*x in this series (which I must admit, I swore him and the woman-DA were going to have a thing, after she said she would disguised as his gf!) Lol. This series really was about the story and I loved how it stuck to the theme without veering off course.

Although he has won a GOLDEN GLOBE ... the only thing that PAUL WALTER HAUSER surely regrets is that "BLACK BIRD" has been a TV series and not a movie, because if it was, he would have already won an OSCAR for the extraordinary performance he developed.

I don't usually comment on acting, I am not an expert but reading so many comments It confirms what I first thought, Paul's performance was so good, I picked those little details to the point I was wondering, is he ok in real life? like while watching him acting the mind was going away from the content of the series and I was admiring him how good he plays. But to be fair I also loved Taron, and I dare to say equally, I felt he was inside the role, less complex role, but awesomely done! Loved Black Bird, based on real story, OMG I am from another country and damn those Americans are so creative in their investigation, and their determination of catching and put those people in jail forever! Sometimes reality is so much better than many crime movies. Huge congrats to like everybody!

Absolutely loved blackbird, from the very start till the end the quality and energy is captivating. Wow, one of the best tv series I’ve seen in a long time. Taron was INCREDIBLE!!!, as was Paul, and everyone else, definitely the best acting I’ve seen Ray do and was sad to see he died. I’d love the cast to do a season 2- follow up - how cool that would be. Gregg and the beautiful woman who played his fb1 partner were awesome- so was our kiwi legend Robyn Malcolm!! Loved everything about this show- superb work from everyone involved.
