Black Cat Crossing CSX Train Tracks with EMD's

Hopefully it's not bad luck as a black cat crosses the tracks in front of CSX auto rack train Q216 being pulled by three EMD locomotives led by 8536 with doors open in Martinsburg, West Virginia. Locomotives: CSX 8536(EMD SD50-3, Ex- SBD, built 1984), CSX 4815(EMD SD70MAC, built 2004), CSX 8719(EMD SD60, Ex- CR, built 1989). Happy to see that the little Shadow Cat made it safely across the tracks before he would be turned into kitty-burger by the train. Nice to be able to watch a train go by again. Was a tad disappointed that the end car wasn't a little red caboose. I see from your description box that this spot is Martinsburg, WV. What, please, are the brick buildings we see? I adore trains. I miss riding them, and watching them. My granddad retired from C&O. His last job was 'Check Counter Upstairs' --- I don't know his official job title, but that's how he answered his phone whenever I called him --- at Union Station in DC. I was a little kid then, and I never thought to ask him. I'm 74 now. I remember one day when Mama, Daddy, and I were at his and Grandma's house for dinner and a visit, I walked --- actually, I skipped; little kids will do that, ya know --- up the sidewalk to meet him when he was walking home from the streetcar stop. He was so excited because he had met a real Hollywood star in his office that afternoon, and he couldnt wait to tell me about it, because it was 'someone' we both liked. A lot. I tried to guess, and gave up, so he told me. It was Rin Tin Tin! He got to shake Rinty's paw, and pet him, and Rinty even gave him a kiss. Granddaddy met Rinty's handler, and they had a nice chat. The handler (sorry! I don't recall the gentleman's name) gave him a 'signed' --- by pawprint --- photo of Rinty and Rusty, also autographed by Rusty, the boy on the show; plus, he got one for me. This was exciting, because we both loved Rinty, and we always watched the show together. Granddaddy hoisted me up on his shoulders, and walked home. We chatted about the 'big event' all the way there. That was a big day for both of us, and I still treasure the memory. Later that year, Granddaddy and Mama arranged a surprise birthday party for me on the C&O that ran between Union Station and Silver Spring. That was a really big day! My friends and family and I 'took over' a special dining car, and the attendants rolled out an absolutely gorgeous train birthday cake for me. Wow! The chef had made a lovely, delicious cake with Chessie in her usual 'sleepy' pose on top in icing, and a tiny plastic replica C&O train, complete with little red caboose, circling it. The trip, though short, was just . . . Magical. 😊 👍 💕 (edit for typo) (edit for typo)
