The realism is what makes this game so great. It is made to make you feel uncomfortable, angry, happy, many things at once. It makes you feel how it really was back then, while putting it in a format, that teaches you these stories in captivating ways. World at war, is the most dark COD game out of the bunch. But also the best, i love modern warfare more than i love black ops, but before black ops came this, and this is the real gold. The more you feel all it's emotions, good and bad, the more the story shows itself to be engaging.

I have played and replayed this game countless times, all difficulties, almost all trophies on PS3, and I never get bored. Seeing you play it for the first time not only reminds me of the good ol days but also makes it interesting what a first timer thinks of the game, the gameplay, the shock factor and how you choose to do things over what I usually do. Real life footage was pretty average for old school war games which were almost all ww2 themed, medal of honor started the trend. This game has been one of the last (probably the very last) to do it. After it the devs got tired of ww2 and started doing modern warfare games (no pun intended)

Fun fact: At 2:26, the dialogue between the German soldiers actually foreshadows what happens at the end of the level. Here is the full translated conversation. "The Russian soldiers keep pushing forward, we are almost completely surrounded." "Our situation is hopeless." "Is that what I need to explain to the general?" Still loving the playthru! The favorite gun of yours at the beginning is the Russian PPSH. I has such a fast rate of fire that it was nicknamed the burp gun because the sound it made firing sounded like a burp. The funny thing is during the last playthru when you were talking about not liking the “slow guns” I was thinking to myself “wait til she finds a PPSH. She’ll love that! I guess I was right!

At min 0:40 is the only time where Volkssturm is mentioned and seen, they were supposed to appear in this campaign but it was discarded, it was more of a Militia created in 1944 until its end in 1945 and was made up of citizens of 16 and 60 years old, they had no military training and others where Veterans and they only received orders from their leader to protect their country 🇩🇪

If you didn’t see, “Eviction” took place on April 24th 1945, and “Black Cats” took place on April 3rd 1945. Roughly three weeks apart. And the mission on Okinawa is in May. 😊❤️

The music in 'Black Cats' doesn't sound like music. It sounds like gunfire hitting the steel hull on your right and left while the war machine grinds flesh and blood. It's one of my favorite tracks in any video game OST.

More grenade dancing than friendly fire in this one I think. Maybe we need to make you a t-shirt with a grenade indicator on the back 🤭 As usual, a tremendous performance. I know you got w bit frustrated towards the end there but it is difficult, dont forget! I do think there are too many different weapons in this one given how limited it feels like it should be...but what do i know, i wasnt there. PPSH-41 is a selective-fire, open-bolt, blowback submachine gun that fires the 7.62×25mm Tokarev round. It was designed by Georgy Shpagin of the Soviet Union to be a cheaper and simplified alternative to the PPD-40. Story goes that the PPSH-41 wasnt a Reliable weapon for sure during Cold Weather, so a man one day goes by the name Mikhail Kalashnikov wanted to make a Reliable weapon for the Soviet Military to use that was going to run pretty good. Kalashnikov ended up making the AK47 rifle. Rumor goes the AK rifle is a Stolen design from the Germans but some do believe and some dont. Jonesy, if you wanna know the story of the AK rifle search the movie or write it down: "Kalashnikov" or "AK-47" its in Russian but find the Dub English version. it came out 2020 it should give you an Idea of who made it and why as in the AK rifle. I can understand your discomfort with the real WWII footage, but I think it's a valuable reminder of the horrors of WWII and the real people who had to endure it. With historic settings, any video game (as well as other pieces of media) that's meant to be taken seriously, has to balance entertainment with honouring history. It's hard to know exactly where to draw the line between what's a respectful (and largely accurate) depiction of history and what's not. For me, good media representations of wars show the horrors of that war and comes off as either overtly or covertly anti-war, even if there's entertainment to be had. I think the idea should be for the concumer to think this was interesting to read/watch/play but you wouldn't ever want to be a part of it in real life.

I'm having so much fun watching these it's very nostalgic :) I just found your channel recently and I can't wait until you get to bo1 and 2, they're masterpieces imo and they destroy the modern warfare series! it all starts with world at war but bo1 and 2 bring the characters and storytelling to the next level, and a lot of the later call of duty's are less hyper-realistic, especially the futuristic ones like bo2 and advanced warfare, have fun!

If im not mistaken in the Black Cats mission is pretty probable some of the japanese ships you shot down were filled with american POWs, this would happen in reality if you google about the Japanese Hell Ships, but at this time the allies had no idea about this until later on.

You should totally get some friends or subscribers together and play zombeis and see how long you can survive...or be brave and play solo

There is no 'ps2 version' of World at War and there is no British campaign in World at War. The British campaign was scrapped during development and only a few assets remain in the game files.

25:48 - the machine gun miner on the left is very useful in fight. Probably forgot he is not playing minecraft anymore. Btw: in these older CoD games if you get stuck just run towards the objective. Enemies are keep endlessly spawning if you are not hitting checkpoints so if you got stuck at difficulty spike just run towards the marker. The game will save and once you respawn you might be behind the problematic part of the map.

Different guns use different ammo. So if you have a PPSH-41 you can't take the German SMG ammo from the MP-40. The sad thing is the only way you get more bullets is if one of your commrades that has the PPSH-41 dies.😢 Best thing is to have a SMG (PPSH-41 or MP-40) for close range fighting and a bolt action rifle (Kar98 or Mosin-Nagant) for long range fights.

Fun fact, all unrequired soldiers respawn infinitely, usually they're the same position, Sub Machine Gunners will always respawn as Sub Machine Gunners. and you can kill as many non story required friendlies as you want.....I think you can see what I'm trying to say.

15:35 that choice will come back as a line in a later mission with the Soviets. Along with the Vendetta and Their Land, their blood. Because there were choices in those missions as well that you didn’t know Jonesy that deals with mercy and brutality. I’ll tell you more when we get to that point 😊.

Alright, time to get my controller and play along. Never been one to watch people play games on KZbin but doing it while playing the same spots in the game is kinda interesting. At the end you fell back down the hole you came up when you were spraying flames around. Your squad was above you, to see them you just had to go back up the ladder.

Jonesy, idk if you've already realized, but in CoD games if you hold for a bit while throwing grenade, crosshair starts pulsing, so you can time your throw and enemies cannot throw it back to you 😎

I love historical games that take themselves seriously and try to be as authentic as possible while still being fun to play. In my opinion, there hasn't been another WWII game that's topped World at War's dark, gritty, and at times, haunting atmosphere. Although short, Battlefield V does a decent job of showing the hopelessness of the Germans towards the end of the war in 'The Last Tiger' campaign, and Battlefield 1's prologue 'Storm of Steel' does a pretty damn good job of showing the horrors and tragedy of World War I. However, Battlefield has always been a multiplayer focused franchise since it's inception. They didn't even have an actual single player campaign mode until the 5th game (Battlefield: Bad Company). So their campaigns have always been pretty lackluster overall imo. I'm still waiting for a World at War remaster, but I have a feeling It might be too much for current AAA gaming publishers.

You definitely should try out Sleeping Dogs ! It's one of the triplets along with GTA5 and Mfia2, promise you will not regret it! Probably the original version as well because remakes are horrible these days, Cheers !

You don't like shotguns???? Oh dear Lord give me strength. By the way your weapon at the hornets next when you where a wolverine had a built in shotgun great for up close fighting in the buildings, Jonesy your weapon challenged poor thing, P.S. that Sub Mg is short range it uses pistol bullets make sure your secondary weapon is a rifle for longer range. All those bullets didn't touch the Panzerschreck guy time to switch to your rifle. And once outside you could have conserved Mg ammo buy using your rifle popping up and down like you did in the other mission. (Grenade tip) if you hold R2 than move the cross hairs up you can toss it further. I'm not saying you throw like a girl mind you.😃

I suppose you could kill your own man and take his Mg ammo after all you are the friendly fire expert. lol. Or you could have used your secondary rifle when possible to save Mg ammo. Be on the lookout for the Russian or German 10 round semi auto rifle it's a lot better than the 5 round bolt action. I'll teach you to be gun savvy if I have to beat it into you, OMG you passed up the Mg-42 the best Lt Mg in the war unlike a sub Mg it shoots rifle rounds and mows people down . Your allowed two weapons you should always be on the look out to upgrade. If you pass up The Stg-44 the worlds 1st assault rifle I swear I'll cry. You even friendly fired your mates in the other black cat LOL may they rest in peace. Blew up your own men with a satchel charge, your a keeper lol

The US missions with the flamethrowers do get somewhat repetitive. but they are the least fun and still not bad missions imo.
