Worth to add since you are a veteran to the game Peon, but they made a huge change to PVE survivability by making the basic dash/evasion on any class permanently I-frame (invincible). They made this change a few months ago and it's really overlooked often, but changes a lot in terms of challenging PVE / boss content.

After watching the video and reading the comments it feels like a dream to actually hear people recommend BDO to other players. Back in the days everybody would just warn you about the game and advise against trying it. I find it actually mind-blowing to hear so many people recommend the game for once. Seems like the devs actually made some good improvements to the game over the last years 👍

Pro tip for SOLO Rift echoes. Don't use the summoning device even at LEVEL ONE. The bosses have 10x more HP, it's meant only for groups. You use the echo 'scroll' on the spot instead, like before the device existed, and the same bosses spawn and are much easier. The loot's the same as far as I can tell.

You forgot this game has also options for people who love to explore EVERY INCH of the areas. Because there are hidden spots and caves, some have interesting materials and loots. So it's not just only profession, combat and PVP.... it has also something who love to relax and explore every space in the world. Not every space is SAME, it's fully unique like some MMOs who just copy some spots and so not much unique areas. And its seamless open world too! Now you can even explore more UNDER WATER! A lot hidden spots in oceans, you need special swim gear and oxygen potions. BDO is best game ever for explorers. Hands down. I don't see much complex terrains compared to other MMOs (GuildWars has also water exploration but less detailed). And many surprises are waiting for you if you explore carefully around. PRO: Best MMO for explorers CON: Kinda overwhelming complex exploring, so much details above and below water for new players. BDO is more hardcore compared to other MMOs, it's not some something like Tera Online or Tower of Fantasy with fast teleporting around. BDO has pretty no teleport system so ride on horse from left to right can take HOURS. Thankfully you can use autoroute/walk system so you can relax and drink coffee while your character goes to other side automatically. Now let's see other KZbinrs reviews about BDO... how do they like the game?

Couple notes from what I saw. The capped Siege still takes into account your crystals and adventure logs, so a lot of guys probably have significant stats over you (accuracy, hp maybe) even though the gear is capped, and I know buffs matter too - so a full elixir rotation is much stronger than just eating a simple cron meal and calling it a day. The Boss Rush can also give you good rewards based on RNG, but you only get them awarded to you once a week so it can give people an opportunity if they want to try and climb the leaderboards for a better chance at higher tier stuff (like the 4b crystals etc.) As for Arena of Solare, when I played it a few months back, there were daily/weekly quests you got from Shakatu in Altinova that gave some rewards. I think you just had to play a certain amount of matches or get a certain amount of wins or something. I would check there, and also maybe check the black spirit and your quest UI.
@Mekose
@Mekose Жыл бұрын
That was my guess with the siege. He's probably missing A LOT of adventure logs and competitive crystals, I'd even bet there are min/max crystal set ups that work around the caps. He's missing probably 2k or more HP from adventure logs, crystals, and house buffs. Also people who are incredibly geared use old accessories like Chimera earrings, which only give 3AP but give 10% down attack each; which is a massive damage increase. You'd have a hard time hitting the caps dropping so much AP, but if you're 730GS that doesn't matter to you because you make it up in your other gear. He's also missing artifacts which give even more damage modifiers like more back attack or down attack or crit damage. I don't participate in capped sieges, despite being 705GS because I don't like the min/maxy cheese builds and the zerg making the game a slideshow. I do think the system needs to be changed more so it truly is equalized gear because none of these cheese builds are explained in the game. EDIT: He has 5.4k HP in the video while I have 7k unbuffed (~8-9k buffed) on my striker from full fallen god, adventure logs, crystals, elvia cups etc. He's missing a lot; which isn't fair to new players trying to experience "equalized" siege content.

Completely new player here, and you are spot on with the New player experience. I came to BDO from Guild wars 2, which in my opinion is a extremely well designed intuitive game where you can pretty much figure everything out as you play. I chose BDO mainly because of the combat and the way it looks, tried it out about a month ago and had to quit because pretty much every time I wanted to do even the most basic of things, I would have to find a tutorial on how to do it. I returned now and have to say that I have been ignoring about 80% of the UI and content because I simply have no idea what it does and what it is used for which in my oppinion is just very bad design. The game also has a habit of making very basic things more complicated for no reason, one example I can think of off the top of my head is inventory management, why do you have to click drag and then click again to move an item? What is this design its such a basic thing, same goes for you cant double click to use an item, just small things like that that make the game needlesly less intuitive. Not to mention the thousands of item that the games showers you with that you have no idea what they are used for, no idea if they are super rare and if you should keep them or use them later (also really hard for me to read the item descriptions since the item text is so small that it is barely readable, and I havent been able to find a way to change this, if anyone knows please let me know). Ive been playing here and there in the past week, pretty much just grinding a bit since it feels like a chore to have to ressearch anything else in the game I could do, but it really is a shame as Id love to start doing more of the content.

@@iHelderScrolls Really? I never experienced that. I pretty much you only have to look at the color of the gear, all gear with the same tier color has the exact same stats, just different attributes. But to be honest gearing is the least of my problems in BDO :D But I really dont look forwars to the enhancing process which i might just skipp and buy it for a kidney or something. I just dont have the patience for that process lol. My main beef with GW2 was all the different currencies, but once you kind of understand how those work and that they are usually map specific, it becomes less intimidating.

Really loving BDO since coming back a few weeks ago. You've listed all the pros, imo what they need to improve on: reduce item bloat, make more group-friendly content (can't even use magnus without leaving your party), streamline main quests so players know what they should do next always, more equalized gear pvp like arena of solare and don't take them away, rbf could use equalized pvp too, boost pvp rewards there's no reason to make pvp players poor.

Gear equalized RBF makes no sense. It's not skill based, just a grind feast to flex your gear and fire in the hall to get random kills. PvP rewards have been significantly increased in NW and Siege. It's still very little though, but it somewhat covers the cost of consumables.

Suggestion for a new mod: I hope we can get a new (bigger) mod like “Defense of Cyrangar” (in Diablo Immortal) in the future. A higher level of cooperation of 16 players (4x4) to defend a hill or a pyramid from being attacked from all four sides. So that the progress of the demons is of different intensity, which would require some players to leave their positions and go to help the weaker ones. Ordinary soldiers (bots) would hold back the onslaught of demons instead of barricades. All over the map, flags would be placed instead of towers. Defenders (bots in cordons with space between them for heroes to pass through) emerge from inside a structure (corridors in a pyramid or tunnels in a hill) to defend the positions (hold the advance) until the flag falls. Where the demons push hard, the heroes have to retreat to a higher position (there would be 4 + 1 levels). When help arrives, the position can be reversed and the flag re-established (bots come out again). Players would have to monitor the situation on the map (and to use portals to move to remote freed/safe platforms). The demons would announce their advance with a trumpet. At the end, all 16 players are on the highest flat platform with the last double flag in the middle (no more bots there). Weak heroes should last at least 30 minutes, while strong ones should last more than an hour… Also, it would be nice if we could get legendary gear for wizard, mount animals (skill instead of teleport or some other). Unicorn (white with a little purple) as the base variant. That animal would be different depending on the environment in which the hero is (zone). Camel for desert, polar bear for snow, deer for forest, tiger in the jungle… Replaces primary attack. This skill, when activated again, can start a mini stampede with a small elephant at the head, for a few seconds (call of the wild zoo). He can randomly ride a small elephant, a huge panther, a zebra, a lion, an ostrich, a huge wolf, a brown bear, and so on. I tried out the Free Trial because Asmon was playing, and it looked kind of cool and fun, so I'll share my experience as a new player. Impressions. 1. The first impression certainly is a rather overwhelming, with the sheer amount of bloat that has been put into the game over the years. 2. The New user experience is tailored towards morons; the first thing I did after launching the game was configure the graphics and some other things; first thing the game did when I joined a server was undo all of it and ask me to pick from a simplified set of presets. 3. The combat system seems neat and flashy, I still need to get more acclimated to it, but it's positive so far. 4. I have yet to run into a good tutorial around life skills and the map nodes. Not sure if I missed it or not. So far I've only managed to figure out basic gathering (energy permitting) and how to distill basic potions into stronger potions. 5. I've gotten to do 2 minigames so far; moving a wheelbarrow and some timing thing where I have to click at the right moment. They're not very fun. 6. Finding specific UIs in that menagerie of a menu is quite a task, and even if I have found it, finding it again sometimes takes minutes. 7. I could buy a residence before I even reached the first town, lol! 8. During the open sequence, I found it hilarious that it was a gameplay section, and that everything I did made the game spam "This part of the story cannot be skipped." Things I like. 1. There's a UI that covers your achievements, titles, and major accomplishments, and shows the exact order you got them and when. I think it's nice to have it in game, vs FFXIV for example that only has this record on their "Lodestone" service. 2. The world building. It's a very simple system, but I'm pretty impressed that I can talk to NPCs to learn things, then use that to chat up another NPC. It's very organic, particularly compared to how some other MMORPGs I've played do it. 3. NPCs actually have schedules. 4. There's a quest filter, that lets me pick the ones I want to do, and even completely ignore certain types as though they don't exist. 5. the writing and storytelling isn't long-winded. Granted I did (well, I'm still doing) the traditional opening, since it's my first time. 6. I don't have to get off my mount to talk to people. Looking at you FFXIV. Nitpicks 1. This game includes some very poor texture work, it's particularly egregious on LOD models, and some things have very visible seams. 2. Settings from the launcher do not persist into the game. For example I set the resolution to 2560x1440 before my first launch. It launched in 1280x720. 3. They messed up the TAA implementation so there's this constant hall of mirrors like effect. It's particularly bad when there's a framerate dip. To do TAA (well TQAA rather) correctly, you're supposed to mask the moving things out of the previous frame before reprojecting it, they forgot to do that. 4. Did I mention the framerate dips from time to time? 5. Reflections effects (e.g. on the water) are dithered. 6. The energy system seems extremely over utilised, and it also does not recover while you're offline. Makes it rather annoying to gather knowledge. 7. Animations in cutscenes are pretty bad. Ones that show my character show him a) jittering horribly (e.g. while "eating" at one of the feasts) b) walking on air. 8. There's way too much crap making it into my inventory. I'm at least thankful for all the Inventory Boosts 9. They'll tell you there is a non-cash-shop method, but won't explain it. For example I've got 3/3 horses in a stable, and I click to expand it, they'll mention I can either use Contribution Points or pearls, and then only show me the option involving pearls. Possible Deal breakers. 1. I had heard that once you reach level 50 or so, the world goes full Open PVP on you outside the Season servers. I don't particularly like the idea of getting ganked by some PKer while doing quests or grinding mobs, so I think I'll be pretty angry if it actually happens. If this is true, and PA wants to appeal to people like me, PA should consider making servers where the only forms of open world PVP are guild vs guild, or node sieges. I'm sure they can add incentives as well, like node to node trade being several times more profitable on PVP servers.

@WretchedIcon Жыл бұрын
@bamf6603, I'm not sure. I haven't gone heavy into the pvp content yet. There's a few videos that talk about it. Woosa and Zerker seem to be the pick though. @masondav1d, there's quite a bit of PvE content. Ultimately, it's a lot of grinding, coupled with a few dungeons and the boss battle thingies. It requires a goal-oriented mindset to get into PvE outside of the story. I have a handful of goals, like I'm trying to be a horse trainer, because it is good money, but I can actually train 4 horses at once with a specific wagons, but to get this specific wagons, I need a lot of in-game currency , or as I've done, setup a network of workers at different resources nodes/farms to create a supply chain of materials, create workshops to create components, which then can be assembled to create said wagon. Once that's done, I can start selling wagons when they're produced while having one to use for horse trainer. The money made from horse training is being funneled into my rather rough attempts in producing another pegasus to attempt making a mythical horse. A lot of my daily play is revolved around gathering the ingredients to keep attempting the pegasus. Once that's done, it's on to boats and the super wagon. You choose a long-term goal, which, ultimately, is just an amalgamation of short-term goals. And trust me, long-term goals are easy to come by in this game. Like, it can be a grindy experience.

I started BDO like a month ago, made a season Ninja on the newbie storyline... and you're spot on about the UI and systems. I've been playing MMOs since EQ1 (EQ, WoW, Anarchy Online, DAoC, Tera, FF XI, FF XIV, GW1, GW2) and I was straight up lost with all the menus and systems. I ended up using the start menu looking section to search for what I was actually looking for like it was in the Windows control panel. I would do an hour of questing, and of that there would be like 5 minutes of actual combat. Combat is the best part of BDO, I don't wanna sit there bored AF pressing R on NPC's traveling 10 minutes back and forth for more dialog. I'm level 58, might stick with it, I'll at least get to level 60 and finish the season I'm sure.

23:40 In capped siege/node war, the cap is only in AP, DP and accuracy limit. You can get more damage from special attack such as critical damage, down attack damage and back attack. Addon can give some of your attack to have percentile of critical hit damage for a moment. Crystal such as corrupted magic crystal can give you +10% critical hit damage, lighstone combo into artifact can give you 2.5% special attack damage, many use elixir that buff up all these plus bleeding is a thing too. In the end class damage/iframing/skills also matter. Hope you still be able to enjoy BDO siege and NW.

@davrv4557
@davrv4557 Жыл бұрын
 @MyLovelyForm this is overexagated. Yes, is not completly capped, but for example, the only HP advantage a geared player have over new players its 600 hp from caphras and Fallen God set bonus having more HP for a total 600 hp. The other advantage is at the highest caps, you can use x2 Chimera Earrings for 20% down attack damage, while new players need to use AP accesories to hit the AP cap. But getting to this point is not hard, specially with consumables. The biggest difference on HP its consumables, HP artifact + lightstone set, crystals and journals. New players are also not running elixir rotations for more damage and healing. All of this take just a few days to get, maybe they will have to give up on a few hundred hp to use cheaper crystals for a while, but even then if they keep playing they will get everything eventually. I think this is fine. The main objective is not to completly make NWs equalized, but to make it more reachable for new players. A new player that watches youtube guides and do research can be totally equalized in 2 months to people that been playing for 3+ years and have grinded thousand of hours.

I started playing BDO again for the first time since the western launch. Back then it took me about three months of a lot of grinding and I got to about level 53. Since the relaunch, I got to level 53 in about a week and a half.. and not with a lot of grinding. I've taken time during that week to just run around doing side quests or life skilling. Also, since I lost my old character with the Kakao to PA conversion, I started from Ancient Stone Chamber and with the "Crossroads" MSQ options, completing the MSQ was much much quicker with fewer quests to grind through. And that's one of the nice things about BDO so far. Having just spent 1500 hours in Lost Ark (with even worse honing rates), I like that I don't feel pressured to grind if I'm not in the mood to. I can spend a day setting up contribution nodes or gathering/mining or seeing where a side quest line goes (or just enjoying the scenery) without the feel that I'm wasting time which is how I often felt during Lost Ark.

Wizard review is solid. Game has severe issues that have not been resolved. Lack of endgame progression and challenges is probably the most noticeable. Start up is pretty friendly. With lots of opportunities to swap your class. Lack of class outfits is pretty pain. I’d expect dozens of outfits for every class 10 years later. Yet, I still just see everyone in kibelois or w/e the translucent mini dress is. The new boss rush is super fun but you can only kill 5 per week. So you kill w/e calamity you are practicing on and then you come back in 7 days. That’s literal pain. Magnus is nice but feels over complicated and clunky. Magnus is the new fast travel system. If you didn’t like old style of bdo, you will like new bdo for 5 boss kills then it’s just same old same old. Also in order to unlock bosses you have 8 hours of pointless r spam and tedious crafting to get through. Graphics are the best they have ever been and you can just literally rp walk around land of morning light listening to the music in your gorgeous high heels. Full immersed in the environment. If they wanted to make the game better. Create an alternate progression path that sets up boss kills to progress your character. Beat a boss gain xp. Beat all bosses at rank 0 your max lvl with full Tuvalu pen. Gain sexy outfits themed with bosses and progression. Charge me 60 dollars for the game mode. Bro I’d be in there all damn day

as a bd player, loved ur constructive criticisms of the game, it really could do a lot more in the explanation/clean up departments. feels like in the current state youd really need a veteran to explain/answer all the questions that come up for new players. and yea you were 100% correct on your assessment of node wars/conquest (siege) pvp, they are technically capped in the simple stats like ap/dp, there are certain stats not capped like special atk buff modifiers (crit dmg, down/air atk%, back atk% buffs), and hp buffs its not exactly "capped" nor equalized because you can min max your equipment, artifacts/lightstones, and item/class buffs to give guilds nearly 50% more dmg and 5000 more health for their entire group compared to a group utilizing none of it.

My husband and I played BDO back in 2016, I lost my account with the publisher change but I got back to it and found there was this season character thing I could make, right now I’m almost lvl 59 in less than a week, I remember it was a lot tougher before! So it was nice to get back with the lvling, I seriously appreciate all the free stuff they’ve been giving me like pets, outfits, exp scrolls, gems, silver, you name it. I still spent $250 in this time because the game really know how to get you into spending 😂 though I don’t expect to have more than one character so it’s an investment I’m willing to do. It still feels P2W for upgrades though, however as a PVE player myself and with heavy focus on the sandbox part of it, I just want to do fishing, trading, gathering and all the life skills, so combat even though it’s required I’m not expecting to get all my gear maxed unless I get billions and billions and pay for it lol. Coming from XIV it’s a very refreshing experience, even as a returning player. XIV stopped being fun to me after the endwalker story, now it feels like we’re in one of those shows where they always have one badder guy and expect you to be surprised, 7.0’s new trailer just didn’t spark the emotion the other trailers gave me, the hype for the new expansion is gone and that makes me sad because I used to love XIV so much but the PVE content is just too repetitive, I still log in to manage my casino (yes I own a venue), and it’s fun to chat with everyone but haven’t done any content after 6.2… lost interest on it. It’s been a while since I played BDO so I had to relearn a lot, I do not like what you said, the UI is hell, the systems are not explained, I was super confused by everything, ended up looking for information on Google and KZbin because there’s just so much shit going on at all times, starting with the alerts, it’s not nice to come into the game and be spammed by alerts that you don’t even know what the fuck they mean. The random pop up’s is just distracting and could lead to people quitting the game fast as it’s just “too extra”. I saw they try to explain the things but when you need to invest 10 hours to learn one system, hell something needs fixing, BDO has a steep learning curve, and the players need a lot of patience to go through it. BDO trying to mimic XIV is not a good thing to do, each has its own wins. BDO’s is sandbox, XIV focuses on story. Let BDO be BDO and let XIV be XIV. Loved the video btw 🥰

@@gamingon9956 the best weapon in the game is PEN blackstar, you can either buy it from the market for ~150bil which is about 200hrs of grinding or attempt to upgrade it for ~5-7 bil by buying costumes of the market and melting it for cron stones or buy crons from the vendor for a little higher price(7bil) and try your luck at 3% succes rate. In terms of accesories they are about 70-80bil each, so about 100hrs of grind or spend about 10bil on tet accesory and try to get it on pen at about 10%, if you fail you lose your tet accesory you've bought. You can spend real money on costumes to melt them for crons, but the cost is so highly inefficient, like 30$ per 800crons, you need 3670 to attempt a pen blackstar, which is 150$ and you still have 3% to succed, you can grind that amount of "money" in max 10hours in game up to 5 hours if you have end game gear.

That lasts only for a little bit, honestly the game starts at level 50+ and you can get there in like 40 minutes, the "story" is a separate thing and once you do it your first time you get an option to essentially just skip it. Most people that have played before just get to Velia and skip the story then go grind, give it another shot and just explore the game a little more. Don't only stick to the story, when you get tired of it just go explore, the map shows you what areas of monsters you can fight by showing how much AP is recommended for each region

I played in the head start and was doing node wars back in the good 'ol days. I will die on the hill that this game was never a "PvP" game, as it never officially advertised itself as such. The only reason to PvP was so you can PvE faster or more efficiently, it was always a korean style grinder more similar to maple story than lineage. You kill mobs, to get gear, to kill stronger mobs, that was it, that was always it, and that's still it, everything else is just there for when you're bored of PvE and need a break.

There's a lot to take in, but don't think that you have to learn everything all at once. Just set a goal for what you want to obtain/want to do and work towards it. You pick things up very quickly as you go. If there's a small question that comes up you can just ask server chat or do a quick google search if you're unable to figure it out yourself. I would recommend watching EvilDoUsHarm as he has pretty much ALL the guides for new players to understand the game. Very good BDO content creator for new players. This is the most important piece of advice I have: It's a marathon, not a sprint. Honorable mentions: * It helps if you join a decent (or at least active) medium sized guild as they might be the main people you ask for whatever questions you have, and they can help guide you with gear progression. * Change it up from time to time, even if it'll slow down your progression towards your main goal. Even if you set small goals as steps to your main goal, you'll get burnt out over time. So switch things up and learn lifeskilling for a while (as someone who primarily grinded, it's actually fun) and add it to your daily process (or whatever your schedule is) as it'll pay off and lead to more silver -> more progression -> more enjoyment. Even right now I've kind of slowed down after getting my Fallen God's Armor to DUO and started getting into lifeskilling to make more use of afk time. * Try not to set goals that are too vague or super endgame. Like if you just started don't have "Getting Fallen God's Armor" be your goal. (I mean, it CAN be a goal, but make baby goals to work up to it so you feel satisfied with progression) Remember, don't try to do everything at once, take everything one step at a time in BDO or you'll burn yourself out quite literally _instantly_ . My goal ever since it came out was the La Orzeca outfit which you can only obtain by killing near-endgame to endgame mobs. However I was quite new to the game when it came out and my gear was horribly lacking as you need mostly endgame gear to comfortably grind for that outfit, it's still my goal and I get closer to achieving it every week. But I set a lot of small goals to progress towards that goal of obtaining the outfit (by working on upgrading each piece of gear I have, one at a time) and the progression is so satisfying. This might not make much sense to you yet, but I got Fallen God's Armor by saving, buying and grinding out all ~7000 caphras stones to be able to convert my PEN chest armor to Fallen God armor. It took a while, but the sense of satisfaction and fulfillment is AMAZING. I'm not quite at my current gear goal yet (281 attack and 350+ defense) but I'm 98% there and I can't wait :D Big wall of text, but hopefully that helps ^^ Also the current season (which is like a fast lane through early game to mid game ends in a month so it'd be a good time to start to take advantage of it). First goal for your gear should be PEN Tuvala by the end of season :)

I like that they are bringing in more stuff from the mobile version of the game, which imo is actually a lot better content wise due to them at least not even pretending its not pay 2 win and just go full out but also are willing to give you pay 2 win shit for free really often. And the game systems themselves are also not as half-assed mobile game as BDO on PC, at least there they go all the way instead of this weird in between.
