This was exactly what I was looking for when I started the game, but no one would explain it properly or it would contain only pre-awakening input. Thank you for sharing! If any of my friends decide to play the game, I'll be sure to direct them towards this video. The parallel with MOBAs is actually quite helpful especially for people coming from that genre of gaming. It's obviously not exactly the same since pure support classes in BDO don't really exist -- every class can do a lot of damage. However wizard/witch are definitely more support friendly than other classes. I also like the comparison to a carry role. A good sorc/ranger is someone you remember and usually the one that's doing the majority of the kills in small-medium scale pvp, while others classes help set up the crowd control and keep the carry alive.

@Nifter222 Yeah, before I took a break from the game: My guild was having a friendly GvG outside of Heidel with one of our allys. And since about 10 of us showed up for each side the other guild thought we had 3 sorcs because the one we had (which was myself) was all over the place picking up kills from all the friendly CC. And @BDO Hero, I'm still on break from the game and I'm considering rerolling classes when/if I do start playing again. I appreciate the video because it helped my mull over my choices, however, since Dark Knight has been out for a bit.. What do you think of her now?

The MOBA class grouping was unexpected but surprisingly accurate. While I don't main a Tamer, I was pretty impressed that you didn't immediately dismiss and shit all over them. I've played most of the classes to 56 and I haven't found a single one I outright disliked even though I definitely lack the skill to excel with most of them. As today is the first day of NA Dark Knight release, I know nothing about them beyond the mass exodus and the obvious "triple threat of coolness" being elf girl, giant sword, dark magic. You seem pretty capable of clearly labeling your own opinions vs what you list as "fact" so I'll definitely be looking forward to your take on this new class.

Nice video man. I'm a Tamer main and its nice to hear someone say that. Everyone hates on us and calls us a trash class simply because they play with some that don't know how to use her. She is very technical and hard to play. You have to try 3x as hard to do the other classes to do damage but it's there. If played well she does very well.

I started with striker and I found out that he is good at comboing large groups at small distances but lack at long distance, they a pretty useful to go in for combos and quickly escape. They also have nice pre-attack head ups, you can push towards an enemy and do a lot of damage

This is such a great BDO class guide, in my opinion, its by far the best! You explained every class very well and gave some insight as to what they do well and what they do not. Im a recent addition to the world of BDO and iv fallen in love with this game. This guide helped me decide which class to play and it was very hard to find a good video about them. Anyone who is new to BDO should keep an eye out for this video! I would send my friends this video.... but... unfortunately none of them play BDO... Still! Will send if they ever ask!

Ninjas aka assassins are a solo character by nature and don't need others because it would only cause a problem for the ninja. They are clandestine and stealthy. They live by the code of silence, patients and then strike mortal and violent blows with everyone else clueless wonder what happen to the enemy. That means a Ninjas has already done the kill period. Not like the other class out in the open notice for doing attacks. That is why they are tough to play and not everyone can pull off the Ninja kills because they are a Special - Elite warriors. Awesome class.

Thanks for putting this together. Now that BDO is coming to consoles I am trying to learn as much as possible about it. This is a very good starting guide to choosing a class. All the classes seem awesome, so I'll have more than one character. Just to mix it up. I've heard that this game takes alot of time, but I don't mind. I love video games, and I believe that time spent doing what you like is never time wasted.

this makes it hard to understand when you have like a 5 rating system then give 5 damage to half the classes on here, and never give lower than a three. You give a 5 a 5 and a 5 then proceed to say rangers have the highest damage in the game. How can they have the highest if everyone else is a 4 or 5? Use the full range of your own scale, because right now I'm leaving thinking most of the classes are pretty equal except for cc. You also state that sorcress ultimate is basically their only cc but gave her a pretty high cc rating. I don't know how much this really helped me.

As im waiting for my BDO to finish dling, you got me thinking. Guilds may need to rethink assassin builds, because a pack of them intricately working together can probably do some crazy cc. Accurate to what we know about ninja lore and stuff, one could "do bad by himself" as you said. They also worked in organized clans though, and just like in the movies and cartoons - 3-4 (or more) working and coordinating attacks together could probably do some serious street-sweeping considering their [in-game] skillset. SN: tbh I think i may roll as an assassin just to find others to murk harder mobs with for fun, like rping a ninja clan or something

I just enjoy running around doing what I want lore and getting to know NPCs, I have yet to awaken anything or do a profession to a max amount, but damn I enjoy it, I bred a T7 horse and lvling him and maxing his moves now. It's just a lot of fan. Rolling a Wizard btw with my alts as feeders and NPC stackers.

Great video man, it just got announced for xbox one, not certain if it's Scorpio exclusive or it can be played on the regular console as well. This class video was and is very useful for myself and my friends. Excellent video, I really agreed with a lot of the points you mentioned, although there is one thing I think you should have touched on: Farm potential. Classes have very different farming ability , and that can be very important when picking a class. Especially because many of the strengths of some characters (Mainly assassins) don't really shine through untill you reach like level 59 or have a certain amount of gear. In addition, a huge part of this game is grinding, and many people might not want to play a class that they thought they would enjoy when they hear that grinding is very, very painful on said character (for example, grinding on Maehwa is laughable compared to a wizard). But overall, great video. I just feel like you should have touched on some of the other aspects of the characters.

Grinding capabilities is to be considered for sure, but I am only talking from a PvP stand point in this guide as I have fought against every single one enough to know their strengths and weaknesses in that regard. I haven't grinded on all of them, so I can't speak on it with as much knowledge. Thank you for the comment!

1. BDO classes DO NOT fall into MOBA Categories as all classes can do anything depending on gear and build. (THIS DOES NOT INCLUDE UR INNATE ABILITY TO BUFF OTHERS OR DE BUFF OTHERS) For instance I could play full dp zerk/ kuno, run in stagger everyone 2. Witch DOES have a slightly faster casting animation( animation != speed ).

I'm playing as a ninja, and I feel like it's ability to kill crowds is very, very good, because of your evasion. You can slay and slay without getting a scratch. And roles in this game when it comes to guilds and stuff can be looked at, as cs:go for eksample. If you have a skilled ninja on your team, he can then be the "backstabber" and that annoying character who's just everywhere. And from that, I must say that the ninja is very underrated. I love being a ninja ;D

I think I'll roll a Witch or Wizard (probably Witch for the effects and defensive play style), in the many action-combat MMO's I've played and general team games I do well supporting and managing my buffs/heals while also managing my CC/damage--yet, to explain my choice, I have a pretty garbage time trying to use my mobility/repositions. Team player + garbage positioning I figure I'll prioritize my strengths and accept my weaknesses. Also of course that AOE looks juicy x) glad to be a fresh nub in this game, anyone/guild want to help a new player feel free to leave your info

The MOBA reference added as much confusion as it clarified, as MMORPGs have a long standing Tank/DPS/Heals/Stealth, unless there is no functional hate/aggro system in the game. It would have been nice if you had mentioned how this mechanic works if you decide to use MOBA terms in an MMORPG. Great guide though, and it doesn't overwhelm with too much info for those of us who have never played the game :) I just hope it's not like the FFA mechanics of GW2.

Good Ninjas are always set up in cannon grp or in cannon hunting Grp. So they are also wanted in Guild and Sieges and Nodewars, just not like in numbers u want wizzards and witches ;)

I would put Wizard/Witch in the Carry category; at the very least, a hybrid category that dances between both, Carry and Support.

I know now you said that they can be considered Carry, too, and maybe that's because you think of them as classes that will take more healing upgrades and supporting their teams. I just thought of them as more of a “farming glass canon” class that does lots of AoE damage, so more carry. Perhaps their healing got improved since last time I checked, but I don't remember it being that powerful.

FYI that spammable aoe you refer to in the tamer section (void lighting) is being taken away in a coming patch. Well, not the skill itself, but the cc effect will be removed on cd. GG tiny tamers.

chibi tamashi it still stuns, as long as you use it off cooldown. You can't just spam the skill and stun anymore.

Great video covering the pros and cons of each class, subjective to developer changes. Some things I may disagree with, but that's a matter of opinion really. It would be even better if you had included difficulty and surviveability as categories, and split the damage into single and multi-target categories, or PvE/1v1/node war effectiveness. Anyway in the grand scheme of things, everything with a high enough GS is a carry :)

thank you for making this video, since most of the gamers nowadays are playing mobas and can understand and comprehend easily the moba relating part and the mmo players can also understand your point. also i get bored easily by some classes in tera for example the only class i wouldnt get bored was mystic(healer, summomer) cause i could solo the raids, i could get easily in dungeons... i was looking to start a berserker. does berseker let you have that freedom of soloing pve, good pvp and being useful in dungeons?
