A game where you play as one of several tribes that allied with the Conquistadors to overthrow the Aztecs but had to deal with the Spanish after might be very interesting. Maybe a group of tribesmen have to work with some of the Spanish to stop the Aztecs from unleashing an evil magical demon: That could be awesome. The two groups have a common goal but have to navigate barriers of language, culture and so on during the journey, and end it as friends saving the world. But the tragedy of it is all the bad things that happened afterward with the Spanish conquest. That could be very gripping and amazing! But instead, all Hispanics are reduced to illegal immigrants and victims in these games.

It is, of course, impossible to please literally everyone. But to suggest that this means you should try and please no one is the fallacy of the excluded middle. The fact of the matter is that some criticism is valid and changes are perfectly okay so long as those changes don't compromise the vision or functionality of the product. Most of us are willing to accommodate other people to an extent. The problem we are having with some of these activist groups is that they not only want to change the products, but change them to please ONLY themselves. Often specifically in ways intended to DISPLEASE other people. Their comments and tweets are often revealing of their outright hatred of the mainstream audience. Taking advice from such people SHOULD be seen as a bad idea. They are not really interested in compromise. They are interested in domination.

I am a 50 year old black, male gamer. It's nice having characters (across all of entertainment) that have a bit of diversity: the original Blade (Wesley Snipes), Benjamin Sisko (Avery Brooks), etc. I think in video games there aren't as many epic black characters as there could be. It's a bit off putting that the only characters a lot of people can name are from the GTA series. However, I'm not willing to sacrifice quality to have a few more shoe-horned in. It's nice to be able to have an avatar that looks more like me when playing a non-descript character that's supposed to more or less represent myself. But again... I will not sacrifice quality to get a modicum of representation. I believe it's safe to say for EVERYONE that the entertainment industry has supplanted this spectre of DEI as the driving force rather than artistic quality, value, and entertainment for the audience as a whole. I'd rather have something that is excellent and monolithic than something that piss-poor and looks like the United Colors of Benetton with diverse characters HACKED into a story to appease a panel of alphabet people.

DEIsts targeted us nerds and geeks because we were low hanging fruit in a way. Look: the big corporations don't care about US. They only cared about milking the things we loved. They mainstreamed our worlds to attract... normies because that's where the big bucks are. The media also don't like us. Most of us don't look like Henry Cavil, after all, and even he was kind of laughed at in that Graham Norton interview when he started talking about his nerd passions. And because this was the narrative of the era during Gamergate 1, when all this DEIst nonsense really started moving because they realized IT WORKED, a combination of people trying to protect their be-hinds, someone who wanted to make big money out of this narrative, and people with genuine traumas led all to... now. And this "Gamergate 2." Probably also the rise of ESG money. It's only recently I'm realizing why big corporations are going against basic marketing principles by alienating core target audiences, even when it's clear that the DEIst lie of "new audiences" isn't working out (and it shouldn't, easily, if you know your marketing 101), because they were targeting a different revenue stream. Nerds and Geeks were already easy targets because then as now, we're still viewed as fringe people. They never accepted our "weirdness". The normies just wanted the momentary wow our worlds provided. The corporations just wanted the money from that. The DEIsts? Some also wanted to make money out of social justice, some couldn't make it in ANY industry without a DEI boost, and sadly a lot of people with actual traumas find it easier to lash out at others than either seek therapy or fix the institutional issues that led to those traumas. No one cares about nerds and geeks. Half the time we don't even like our own. And how many of us look threatening, right? How many of you owned guns before the ideological pipeline DEIism ironically is the top of the funnel for brought you to people who do and now you probably do, too? We're just marks to all of these people: the corpos, the media, the so-called activists, the fascist recruiters, the streamers. I'm old so I can just shrug my shoulders and barricade myself behind my sourcebooks and games. I feel bad for the young nerds and geeks at the kind of desolation you all have to live through.

I had to think on this for some time Paul, it seems the difference from today and the past is the word NO. Everytime I hear something stupid it comes from the arts community, where the word NO seems to be evil. No helps people to see that yes there are boundries in this world, and that we can push up against them but going through or not caring about them gets things destroyed. Think about how the arts have gone in the last 50 years or so. From something that brought joy and new insights to life to the point where everything is an "art" like political arts, science arts, mathamatical arts, etc. This is causing the stupidity that 2 + 2 = 5 and that science is only science when one agrees with me, instead of actually doing the hard work of finding out if it actually does agree. My favorite part is always when they say they want to increase equity in gaming. Which would mean that everyone who plays a game, would come to the same result. I.e. everyone who starts the game, has to reach the ending, regardless of how skilled they are at the game. This means games have to have a win button, or they are not equity equipped. And if they don't have win buttons, then the government need to give the Equity organizations more money. An infinite money glitch in the system, for any corrupt group to use.

When have games ever been "non-inclusive"?? Get over yourselves. You don't have to see yourself in every single protagonist. Guess what? I'm not an Italian Plumber, a buff bald-headed space marine, a female spelunker who wields two pistols, or a soft spoken southern black man who gets bitten by a zombie, but I could relate to all of these characters because they were great characters in games that were fun to play. These folks act like they're doing the lords work and in reality...they're just losers.
