I remember my family gatherings on Sunday included a beautiful meal by my Mom ( thank you Mom!!) and then EVERYBODY would get up and go to the living room to watch Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom. Then, after waiting all day, Tinkerbell would fly across the screen and with that beautiful music playing. Then the famous written words, “ The Wonderful World of Disney”. It was such fun waiting to see what was playing each Sunday. We ALL watched with excitement…even Dad! Of course the kids hoped for a classic cartoon, but we were just as thrilled to get Ole Yeller, or The Apple Dumpling Gang. Sundays were magical. But with the recordings available, we can make Sundays the same. Just be your family’s own Walt Disney. Re-create the magic of anticipation! Bring Walt back to life. Give our kids the same magic. Let’s stop arguing and talking about adult things in front of the kids. Bring back the GOOD things of the past, and let lay the bad.

I’ve been an avid Disney addict since my childhood. I grew up on *ALL* the classics. I grew up watching all the OG shorts. I grew up watching (most) of the shows. I grew up playing all the games. I even grew up watching many of the live action films many would consider obscure. For a time, I was unhealthily (but happily) obsessed with the brand. It used to treat its audiences respectfully to carefully crafted and well told stories that would (and will) stand the test of time. Yes, the company was never perfect, but at least they had a goal: entertain people of all ages and backgrounds with fun, but serious/heartfelt stories about broad morals with childlike wonder. Since roughly 2014 (technically 2012 onward, since the seeds were quietly being planted then), I’ve watched Bob Iger slowly but surely drag Disney down into the soulless hollow corporate shell it is today. It’s been utterly heartbreaking to helplessly watch something that used to mean so much to me get essentially dragged to hell by a devil. It all started to go downhill when Bob Iger decided to re-release already told Disney classics like Alice in Wonderland with the live action reboot in the late 2000s…. He then made it a tradition to continually remake beloved classics every few years with pointless/soulless LA retellings. Things didn’t start to get REALLY bad until he purchased Lucasfilm in 2012. He had already purchased Marvel 3 years prior (just as he did for Pixar, 3 years prior to that), but he didn’t start going mad with power until Lucasfilm’s acquisition in 2012. They immediately moved forward with dozens of plans for video games, sequels, spin-off’s, and the park expansion… and they hadn’t even released anything at that point. Bob Iger just assumed that Star Wars fans would mindlessly consume anything he pushed out (no matter how rushed and corporate it was). We all know how the Star Wars sequel trilogy went down, but since then, Bob Iger has only gotten more and more greedy. Purchasing more competitors like 20th Century Fox, Vice Media, A&E Networks, Bluesky, Hulu, and soon Comcast itself. He’s turned his back on the well thought out/executed entertainment that made the company so special before. He’s carelessly promised overt political support to one party of insane radicals, and because of it… Star Wars, Indiana Jones, Marvel, and 99.9% of their own works have become tasteless purposefully divisive hateful propaganda pieces that have spanned from roughly 2014-2023 (and counting). Bob Iger needs to go. Kathleen Kennedy needs to go… and even Kevin Feige needs to go. They’ve all poisoned the brands they’re running, and this was all allowed to happen because of Bob Iger, and his inability (or refusal) to understand and uphold Walt Disney’s dream. My heart aches for Disney. It’s been like watching a best friend slowly fall to avid drug usage. I’d give anything to see the Disney I grew up with again… the Disney that cared about what they put out, and took their time to do it, so we could have the best experience possible. Maybe one day I’ll see it again… but that’ll never happen if people like Bob Iger, Kathleen Kennedy, Kevin Feige, or any other corporate elitist are pulling the strings.

Even ten years a go we would have said, OK, there's been a few mistakes, trying to pander to less than ten percent of society by attacking white men, the men who go out and work in order to take their kids to the cinema, is probably not a good idea, but Disney had the chance of changing. For some reason it never. Instead it doubled down on the diversity, blaming the audience for not being woke enough. Luckily we can still watch the old classics. So, farewell Disney. When I was a kid we'd visit my grandparents for the weekend which was about an hour or so from our house. Well, the Wonderful World of Disney aired on Sunday nights then. My sister and I would be in the back seat on the way home asking. "What time is it?" "Are we almost there?" haha! My parents told us years later how annoying we were but at the time we didn't realize it of course. However, the big reveal to us was that our parents wanted to get us home in time to see the show too! It was a different time and a different company then. I feel blessed to have been a kid in those days and not in these.

Damn. Well written script, and the music gave me the Feels, like I grew up in Orange County, used to have curfew timed to the fireworks in Anaheim as a kid, so I couldn't lie and say I didn't know what time it was (you could hear those booms anywhere in town), and to see such a cherished institution fall to such appalling Wokism, so contrary to the original intentions of a well-meaning genius Dreamer, well...Well done, my Man.

Eco you’re making me cry here really. See a good man’s dream become a reality into an empire that he built to entertain people with good values and a good job for his employees. If only Walt can see this, he would be so ashamed. That’s what makes me cry inside.

Do one for JRR Tolkien! This is what HE had to say about Disney: He "has always seemed to me hopelessly corrupted. Though in most of the ‘pictures’ proceeding from his studios there are admirable or charming passages, the effect of all of them to me is disgusting. Some have given me nausea."

Still don't exactly understand what his beef with Disney was though. Snow White is practically Luthien when she's introduced. Too commercial maybe?

@@Jim-Mc Tolkien liked the stories that Disney based the films off of, but he thought the films made these stories into a joke. He was especially angry at the dwarves, who he thought should have been serious and somber characters, being turned into essentially "Jar Jar Binks" like characters.

The irony of all this is that the company is getting destroyed in its 100th year of existence, and the first full length animated movie made by Disney has been remade in such a way that it is an insult to the company. For gods sake, the HQ building tells the world that the company was built on the seven pillars of Snow White….the freaking dwarfs.

Walt would've cried to see what Disney has become... I remember being absolutely mesmerized by Disney movies, something that you get lost in. Frozen, Mulan and many nice sitcom shows of the 90s and 00s were made for 'fun' and not spreading 'the message'\
