As a longer than decade player of wows and several of blitz I have never commented but just wanted to thank you for all three items your consistent on...history, stats/setup, gameplay. Your efforts are appreciated

Hi Terry, sorry you are feeling under the weather. I think you missed the mark with black GK a skosh. You characterized the BLACK GK as, "It's a GK with a main battery reload booster." I think a better characterization of the BLACK GK would be: "It's a GK with an additional REPAIR KIT that focuses more on Main Guns and can shoot down a few more planes." In short, BLACK GK is the tankiest ship in the game. Some would argue that most players will not be able to take advantage of the extra REPAIR KIT because they will either play the ship in such a way that they will die before they will be able to use it or the will not sustain enough enemy fire to need it. This may be true, but for skilled players, BLACK GK with Reinhard Sheer and a survivability set-up will give them the ability to soak up enemy DPM like a sponge (simultaneously keeping that DPM from teammates), stay alive to the late game, and better trade damage at mid to long range. I have played plenty of Tier X battles in most all of the BBs and I have always thought people overplay the sentiment that GK is horrible at range. In my experience, I have found it very capable of doing what a BB needs to do at mid to long ranges, even against skilled opponents, and feel this sentiment is misplaced. To further substantiate this claim, I have provided the stats from the ELITE SHIP DATABASE as well as from DEATH FROM ABOVE's in-game derived stats below. Using the DFA and EDS databases comparing GK to YAM and MONTY demonstrates that GK guns are reasonable at range with average dispersion and reasonable real damage output: EDS: GK YAM MONTY Minimum Horizontal Dispersion: 132 m 150 m 132 m Max Horizontal Dispersion: 408 m 396 m 397.4 m Max Vertical Dispersion: 64.8 m 64.8 m 72 m Sigma: 1 1 1 Initial Shell Velocity: 262.6 m/s 271.5 m/s 271 m/s Deceleration: 1.56 m/s^2 2.67 m/s^2 3.63 m/s^2 Theoretical AP DPM: 56, 000 53, 977 64, 931 DFA: Accuracy (Alabama 13 Km): 63.2% 62.6% 55.1% Real DPM (Alabama 13 Km): 18, 653 18, 813 21, 838 *Real DPM is measured in game on Alabama at 13 km broadside Thanks for the video, now rest up and get to feeling better, Ignatius from RAGE

They did basically the same thing with Black Freddie. It has defensive AA instead of sonar, so basically you trade defense against DDs for more defense against CVs. It does also have the rapid reload.

Black Freddy is pretty cool. It's similar in that it gets rapid reload and DFAA but no sonar. I was able to pick mine up for like 100 copper a while back because I needed a high tier German battleship to train my captains on

My 5 years of blitz got erased somehow 3 weeks ago. In fact for 2 weeks I had no access to blitz at all. Closed and restarted game, removed and reinstalled game all to no effect. Angry and wonder what happened, but not eager to start from scratch. If not fully restored will probably find something else to do.

To be honest, the Black GK combo of rapid reload and precise aim looks a lot better than the Black Yamato’s rapid reload and spotter plane - of course having the Marco Polo’s combo of all three would be even better, but if you can have only two I don’t think precise aim is the right one to drop. So while Black Yamato is a slightly worse version of the original, the Black GK is a different flavour of the same ship that makes it better at range at the cost of damage output at shorter range. To get the most of them, however, the commander setup needs to be a bit different though.

Oh man, that brings back memories. I've been to Vegas once, when we were touring California to decide if we wanted to live there (in general, not Vegas specifically). Fascinating place. Some of the friendliest, but also most insane people I've met. Our last stop was LA, so I had to drop the rental off at LAX around midnight, and then thought, hey, I just catch a cab back to the hotel. The one cab I got was driven by a pot-smoking Rasta, who was blasting some Christian radio station, and was driving like a madman. First impression of LA, followed by the old bloke in a yellow chicken costume rollerblading past in the morning. We ended up moving to Australia.

Hey Terry, first best wishes and get well soon. To be honest, i was just waiting for this, I'm also a GK fan and I'm still not done with the video, but want to write down these words before I see your conclusion. I don't know if the black GK is superior. The sonar is a pretty awesome thing on the line and gives advantages that I don't wanna miss, I think. So even I find it possible, to play the GK less on the secondaries (it's still a similar build I think), because the main guns are one of the hardest hitting guns in the game and by far the most powerful if we only think about tech tree ships, it's still a ship that relies on getting close and therefore the sonar is pretty much a must to have. So I guess, the GK is actually still a better choice overall. But the HP bonus, you get out of the 4. Heal is a thing. So I guess in an 1v1 the black GK will win with the rapid reload. In conclusion, I think it's a good GK, but is it worth the money? I saw the lowest winning bid was 19k gold, so that's quite expensive. I would still prefer the normal GK I think.

Yeah, there are a couple of US premium cruisers that I missed, I think Tulsa as well, and I may have to revisit Buffalo. I'll probably wait until 7.0 though, I want to see if they buff the AA
