BMPCC is the clear winner here. You can make a 50 million dollar budget movie with a BMPCC6K and you automatically spend a few million bucks less cause most Red Cameras are being rented at such crazy prizes, when you buy the gear for the BMPCC6K you can spend the rest of the money on more shooting days or as a security cussion for something else. Of course dynamic range does a lot. And there is a huge difference but this is why most high budget production use Arri instead of even the Red cause it s not even on par with the Arri. I do not like the red dragon it is bulky, it is user unfriendly and actually you cannot shoot with it at 50K cause only the body. With BMPCC you spend a max of 4K for the body and a few lenses and you are good to go as a camera operator. for low and even some higher budget productions. Fuck the Red Camera.

Just a little personal notation (for the record i love watching parker). RED doesnt have a monitor so RED wins the monitor point. BMPCC can survive being dropped but RED cant so RED gets the durability point. BRAW cant be used in premiere out of the box (but it can). Post and Grading were equal but personal habits made RED workflow easier so RED gets a point. BRAW file sizes are smaller but call it a draw. Can buy 20 bpmcc 6ks for the price of 1 red. The same can be said with the Reds battery. That is an addon and correct me if I am wrong but the side control mount for the red has a small battery that only last about 20-30 minutes if that. You most always have to use a v-mount battery (brick) or REd XL

All I see is bias towards the $50k camera. For its price the BMPCC 6K punches WAY ABOVE ITS WEIGHT. All the BMPCC 6K's 'loses' are easily remedied bar the dynamic range and frame rates. Battery - everyone in their right mind is going to hook it up to a vmount or external source, the LP-E6 is a bonus imo Crop factor - LucAdapter turning it near full frame soon. (optional i know) Post workflow - Davinci resolve is a recognised color grading software used by professionals comes free with Black Magic. BRAW now supported in Adobe Premiere Pro natively, runs smooth af. looks more like a 8-8 draw to me at least. I just think it doesn't sit well with people's egos that a camera so small and affordable is so close to the RED, hence why the unfair bias. Dynamic range and frame rates isn't enough to call it a 'clear winner' or the $47k plus price difference. But hey, maybe i'm wrong, just my two cents

Jude Okun Do you think the Blackmagic will be fair for Wedding Videography?
@lunapictures79895 жыл бұрын
Q For weddings there is a need for a fast and reliable autofocus which blackmagic unfortunately does not have. I was using for the most part Sony a6300 but now it's a bit outdated so you should maybe consider Sony a6400 (or Sony a7iii). It has one of the best autofocus and if you go with a7iii you have also one of the best low light capabilities. I would also say that Canon could be good but in this price point I can't really recommend any of their cameras. But if you were using manual focus for weddings before and it worked blackmagic should be amazing due to image quality but honestly I would go with something with worse IQ but great af cuz IQ and sharpness doesn't matter if the subject is out of focus. Hope it helped a little bit ;) have a nice day

Only thing I am not sure it will perform great and no one is talking about is how well it performs in differetn weather and harsh temperature conditions. I say this cause even the Camcorders aren't really a thing anymore, they are built to last longer on shoots and on high as well as low temperatures which no one talks about. Whereas mirorrless cameras don't perform very well, they overheat fast and stop. and at very low temperatures they stop reacting. Which obviously what high end pro cameras are for in the end. Means your client, and average viewer won't tell neither, and as a producer you will save loooots of money you could invest in lightning, computer, sliders, sound. That will change all the shape of your work. If you are on a big set you'll still rent a RED but if you are a small company/an independent filmaker BMPC just allowed you to do professional work on your own.

RED 16 stops of DR 😂 Oh these kids if they only knew what 13.5 stops means.. the pocket btw holds on more into the highlights than your RED if you knew how to use it. What I found funny was that they concluded the camera wasn’t something they’re going to use because they prefer the DSLR looking footage, ease of use etc etc but that same logic didn’t apply to their RED. What a useless video. The features hat matter significantly are: 1. RED DR 13.5 vs P6K DR 13.2 at ISO 800 with half of a stop more above the middle gray than RED. So a fn tie on this one. 2. Colour depth, both 12 bit. A fn tie again. 3. Resolution, both 6K. You guessed it. Another fn tie. 4. Frame rates, RED does more. RED wins one. 5. Battery life, both need v mounts or smart power solutions. Tie. 6. Portability. P6K wins 7. Gimbal work. P6K wins 8. Pro sound. P6K has xlr in with phantom power out. P6K wins 9. Screen and monitoring. It’s a tie. They’re both good and if you need to spend as much as you spend for a RED monitor, you’d get a better monitor for the P6K. 10. Reliability. P6K wins. No issues with any of them so far and plenty of issues with RED. Don’t even get me started on that one. 11. Price. Well, P6K wins that one by a long mile. 12. Ethics and prestige. BMD wins that one supporting Indy filmmakers by offering some of the most affordable tools for both production and post production. RED on the other hand is lately proven to be deceitful, lying through their teeth, intimidating all to satisfy what seems to be a spectacular greed. So, count the points and see who the winner is.

I normally not comment on this kind of video but here I am just for clear one thing, you people are extremely crazy not just compare but also giving points for each category. 2500 Dollars VS Red Weapon 6K Daily rent approximately 2000 Dollars more or less. You can compare but no logic to give points to each camera who is the winner. Honestly, I was laughing throw all the time you just gave points. I do love your videos but this time you people have done an extremely funny video to watch. Let just make it simple 2500 dollars with included DaVinci Resolve License. ready to shoot RAW at just 170 dollars of External SSD is not just amazing? and forget about the dynamic range or Stops. for Low budget shooters, this is way higher then they will ever wish or dream. Now the value exists only the creative ideas and creative minds how to shot the content. this tool is far superior to the one Hollywood Shoot the First Digital Film on Sony HDW F900 making of Star Wars: Attack of the Clones and the digital revolution that infiltrated Hollywood.

For the editing and grading part, you could test files from both cameras in Davinci Resolve as well. And then probably dont open up Premiere anymore😁

As an amateur it is great to know that high quality is affordable. I would not use the red unless I was a busy pro.

Not gonna lie, I liked the bottom clip more and therefore thought it was the Red. I was then astonished to find out it was actually the Black Magic.

1:45 BEWARE! you might have to spend a whopping $1000-2000 extra to rig up the 6k which brings you too a grand total of under $5000, so consider that when deciding between $5000 or $50,000 shitty Red overrated camera bahahaha. You guys actually have no idea...

I am with you... if your so possessed to own a RED I would like to know the reasoning when you can rent it? I have a Sony FS7 and 90% of the time I am using a FS5 because it does it just a good and when on the move it works twice as good cause I don't need to break it down or worry about someone mishandling it.

more like $500-1000 extra on the BMPCC6k (which is by now only 2 grand instead of 2.5)

BIG difference in dynamic range means it handles Sunlight much better! For that reason alone worth the money.

Excellent video for those of us just learning about the Magic 6K. I'm curious on anyone's thoughts if 6K would be overkill for KZbin? 4K is probably enough but after watching this video, 6K seems like a better deal long term. I'm also eyeing the new Fuji as a comparison...

The shoulder mount Camera needs Steadygum. If you care about your back and shoulder pains and need Balance and Stability. It takes the weight of the camera off up to 80% You can use SteadyGum in every situation, very quick to set up and take off.

I have the BMPCC 4k and I love it so much! It’s easy, fun and small. I think it would be really cool if RED came out with a more “budget” type of camera that works out kind of like the BMPCC. One day I hope to own a RED but that’s a ways down the road.

The URSA Mini Pro will give you the best bang for your buck and a better comparison. Super 35, EF mount, 15 stops dynamic range and all the features on the body for quick work. You won't need more than 4.6K realistically, but you will appreciate the bit depth and higher frame rates.

Stupid question, but hope you can help. I have heard a lot of negative about the autofocus (lack there of) of the Black Magic 6k, is this mostly a concern if you are using the camera outdoors while shooting moving objections? Or, if in my case, if I place it on a tri-pod would this work as a studio camera without needing a camera-man to operate focus? Would the camera focus properly when I sit down in front of the camera? Thanks :)

I was in absolute awe when it was revealed Red was A when B looked so much better. Red should be shaking in their boots rn.

I enjoyed the video. The Conclusion I've drawn is that the RED is better, but not 20 times better. As a novice looking to get into something more cinematic. I feel that the BMPCC 6K is a damned good tool to learn on.

If you're running a cage, then use a power junkie with a canon coupler and you can use sony npf batteries which will drastically increase the battery life of the camera.

I’ve been using Blackmagic since they dropped their first cinema camera. The first generation, 1,000 pound URSA. (Exaggeration) All the affordable aspect of the brand is amazing. What their cameras can do is also mind blowing. The one thing that you’ll eventually grow out of though, is the limited range these files have in post. They just begin to fall apart with heavy grades in post. Even if you shoot in BRAW, because their codec isn’t a true RAW format. So it just falls apart in post if you stylize it too much. Their codec has gotten better with their 5th generation color science. But it still can’t be pushed as far as Reds and Alexa. For that reason alone, I’m honestly looking to add either a RED or an Arri to my arsenal. I’ll probably always keep my Blackmagic lineup, but after shooting with the codec for so long, I’m definitely tired of the limitations in post. Interestingly enough, I honestly think that their 444 prores codec from the old 4K URSA, looks better graded, than their BRAW from the BMPCC6k. But using prores 444 you still run into problems with the limitations with the 444 codec in heavy grades. Hence why I think it’s time for me to move on to a RED or Alexa codec. Blackmagic is amazing, and no other camera at that price point can do what it can. But they do have major limitations as it relates to grading when compared to their competitors.

Very difficult to see any difference on a mobile device that compresses the resolution
@intensitydigital4 жыл бұрын
11:21 did they give red the point just because it has a better reputation? It sounded like they said "we can't tell them apart but red has a better reputation for image quality so they get the point". I couldn't really say because of youtubes compression, but if the editors can't tell a difference in quality wouldn't that mean its a draw?

On color, if you use Black Magic's DaVinci (free and $300 version), for post, it does WAY superior color correction than Premiere. Most all feature films get color corrected in DaVinci. Need to mention that.
