What makes this CJ7 unique is the modifications that were made using AMC components from the 1980s. It has a built AMC 401 with Magnum COMP Cam with Hydraulic flat tappet lifters and Wiseco pistons. The engine is mated to a T-177 4-speed transmission, a Dana 300 transfer case, and the one-year-only Dana 44 Wide Track one-piece axel. Sitting on new 35 inch tires, custom interior and a sound system to match.

That is the way they should still be today. Personally I like leaf spring in comparison to coil. Just me.

Ya I miss the attitude of old cj leaf setups. I think it's because you can feel what's going on better.

Me too. I like leafs better but the angry eyed, rubber duckie lovers claim if it's not long arms with King or Fox shocks with hydro assist steering it ain't good off road. On any given day it's not uncommon to see a bunch of 70 year old Flat Fender Willys Jeeps crawling all over the Rubicon, Moab and other places around the Country. And, they have more class doing it. These new Jeep owners have no idea what a stock Jeep is capable of, because they are so gullible and believe everything the KZbin influencers tell them. It is 70-30 in my book. 70% driver and 30% vehicle.

I wish I'd known about this before I bought the Jeep I have. I like my TJ, but I originally wanted a CJ7. I've had a Commando, a CJ2A, a CJ 5 , a YJ, a CJ7, and now this TJ. I loved the 2A, and the CJ5, but the CJ7 was the perfect all around Jeep. I Know I'll catch hell with the owners who follow the KZbin influencers and claim only the new Jeep are worthy, but I like leaf springs. They claim they can go on the Rubicon and Moab, but when I bring up videos showing old Flat Fenders crawling all over both they finally shut up. All I can say is that thing is beautiful and it sounds amazing.

I too had a CJ2A - one of my all-time favorite off road vehicles. Dang, I miss that ride. I do like the TJ, however. I feel it was a really good balance of on- /off- road performance. Not as good off road as the CJ, and not as good on-road as the newer, wider Jeeps, but still a great balance of size and capabilities. I drove a TJ Unlimited (LJ) for 10 years.

The CJ5, yeah, that was a great vehicle. Super fun off road!

tach was available as an option on any model, not only Laredos. Trans is a t176, not 177.

What makes you think its a T176, and not the longer shaft T177 which had slightly different gearing?

@@chickencreekcustoms8974 It's your jeep, you know it better than me. My bad. I was thinking factory cj7 options. 401 to t177 was common in full size jeeps.

I can't recall. I think seatcoversunlimited, but do a google search and you'll find a couple. But, as I noted, they need to be cut apart and sewn properly to get the bottom and corner fit you want.

What lift does it have?
@chickencreekcustoms8974
@chickencreekcustoms8974 3 ай бұрын
Natural arc, 2-inch leaf springs and 2-inch body lift. This gives you the best of both worlds. You don't have to retool steering and hoses if the body doesn't exceed 2 inches, and you get the natural lift with a set of springs arched for an additional 2 inches.
