I was so proud of my brother when he won the Short Film festival for this movie and I am still sooo proud of him and all that he has accomplished since!

Very well done. The narrative really sounds like strong poetry. I'm a For Colored Girls (the real one, the book, not that movie) devotee, and it is somewhat reminiscent of that to me.

I generally don't care for many of the black or ethnic short films i've come across on youtube, simply because they tend to glorify, exploit and encourage a certain way of thinking and the way some of us live our lives (batterd women, abused children, abondoned families, poverty stricken, etc etc), instead exposing and expressing it or giving it a voice, without giving it the power to define who we are. This short film, however, is by far one of the best I've seen when it comes work by "Us".

People may be tired of this conversation but there are still people out there, men & women raising self hating children who will grow up to do the same. My 7 year old nephew will grow up to love himself. He is not mesmerized by white. He colors all super heroes dark skinned like him. I had to teach him that the word 'nappy' (obviously taught to him by his mother, since [his grandmother] has locs and I have been natural for decades) is a word used to brain wash us. This conversation is not over.

It all stems from jealousy. I could relate to the 1st guy - in that, some people are color struck. It is true that (even today) lighter skin tones (leading up to white) are treated with more respect than darker. On the opposite end of this, there are good people of all races that treats everyone as equals. It all depends on your outlook on life.

with attitudes like this , there will never be a resolution and in 2099 the leading discussion will still be holding the topic of race ...

The race issue is simple some White Americans own up to the atrocities created by their ancestors and the fears they have pertaining to Black Americans and why some animosities and oppressive acts are still committed today and Black Americans will own up to their part and once we stop with all the illusions we can truly heal. The true power comes from being able to see what happened and hating the actions and not the people understanding the pain and the hurt and then saying no more it ends.

what a waste, being black in America is not that one dimensional. this is why we are losing black audience, we have seen and heard the same story over and over, people were move on even when the story was fresh. now most have just move past it.
